Game Interface Review: Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011/Top Shot Elite (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii)

In the past, hunting games like Cabela’s were a bit of niche title. It had its following but the more hardcore gamers did not take the games very serious. When I first laid eyes on Dangerous Hunts 2011 and the gun Top Shot Elite, something different happened. I actually got excited for a Cabela’s game. The graphics looked like they had been vastly improved from the last title I had played (during an achievement scoring contest, no less). It had a credible story written for it. What triggered the most excitement was the fact that it could come with a gun called the Top Shot Elite which looked like it would be fun to play with. I had seen some previous titles on the Wii that were packaged with guns but they looked a bit bland and boring. The Top Shot Elite was a far cry from those. (Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) 9/10

As strange as it may seem, this one turned the series around.

Yeah... I was surprised...
I grabbed this game to use with the Move because my kids enjoyed the Shoot and Time Crisis so much...I figured it would be similar to those titles but with animals.... I threw the game in to try it out in Story mode and was pleasantly surprised....have never played a hunting game before and this game's story mode sucked me in and I have really enjoyed it... the Move controls work very well with this title...would recommend it to anyone that likes shooters with a good story. Surprised me big time.

Suprised here as well
I bought the gun-less $39.99 version and bought the $20 Move gun adapter (already had the Move controller) and I am very happy with the game.

Gallery mode is great, can be done up to 4 players without Move and 2 players with Move. Takes actual strategy to get the right power ups in order to unlock the other levels.

I am playing story mode with Move + Nav controller, and it's really good. I love the old mans' swagger..and the challenge. I only have a few minor complaints: not being able to map buttons (reloading on Nav controller would be nice) and reaching for triangle in Gallery mode, but in all it's def worth at least a rental if you have Move, and I've been hearing good things about the Top Shot Elite as well if you have the $79.99 for the bundle.

I'd give it a 9/10 for finally bringing that "arcade shootemup" experience home, and with it a challenging and satisfying experience.

I bought it last week. Just I have bought every other Cabela game this generation in hopes there would be an improvement.

To my shock, it is a good game. PRobably not a 9/10. More like 7.5-8/10...

Much improved graphics, solid framerates, and pretty good story mode are the main things. I have played through the first chapter in story mode and half the second. But from what I can see, the worst part about the game is that it may get repetitive after a while.

This has put hope in Cabela games for me. And the gun is cool.
