Was Kinect ever really sold out?

Today Microsoft's new motion sensor for the Xbox 360, Kinect, officially went on sale in North America. Kinect has been difficult to obtain the last couple of weeks as early reports had pre-orders selling out at most major online retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Trying to obtain it in stores was equally as impossible. Was it actually ever sold out, though, or was this just an attempt to make it seem in high demand?

Of course its sold out. Only PS3 fanboys would think otherwise and are delusinal. Can't persuade me and millions of gamers and casuals to not buy this product. Damn PS3 fanboys are LOSERS and pathetic

Well then why can you so easily purchase it from just about every major online retailer? Amazon was previously sold out and now they mysteriously aren't. Kind of strange wouldn't yous ay?

GamingGamer2759d ago

they barely got any shipment from MS.

the sold out was caused by lack of stocks apparently

"One thing that is for sure is that the people who purchased it at the marked up prices yesterday must feel like suckers."

F 'ed up.

In stock online right now all Kinect bundles and stand alone device:
Best Buy
Samsclub (btw Sams has a good bundle deal for those interested in Kinect)

And I'm sure there are dozens of other places it can be found. I would bet giving a 100 to 1 odds I can walk into any retail store around me, the only exception being gamestop because they are too lame to get in more than preorders, and find Kinect on the shelf.

Like I said before the articles claiming that preorders were sold out every where were just hype / rubbish. No doubt Kinect will pull in big numbers. How could it not with that advertising budget of 500 million dollars, but the articles were just more unfounded rumors / BS.

so unless your talking about buying a bundle set you not going to find the stand alone device.

Lekumkee2759d ago

F*ck no was Kinect ever sold out. You really think they spent 500 mill dollars in advertisement and with kiosk in every single mall in America, it's being sold in Macy's for christ sake. The sold out crap was a PR move and nothing more.

LMAO Kinect shipments will be low my ass, walk into Macys and I guarantee you, you will find a Kinect bundle.

TheFreak2759d ago

If ps3 fanboys are pathetic and losers what are you then?

voodoopickle2759d ago

Wrong post

Well, besides it being clear that today many US (online) stores have the standalone Kinect listed as in-stock, the 360/Kinect bundles were never sold out (as pre-orders...).

So, existing 360 owners have bought some of the standalone Kinect stock (but apparently not enough for it to be really sold out today), and there aren't enough new casual gamers buying 360/Kinect bundles to cause those to be sold out....

Can the internet be right and MS is really trying to pump sales with disinformation? Nah, that can't be right....

Xander7562759d ago (Edited 2759d ago )

That is incorrect, it was sold out at Amazon just yesterday and going for $340 from Amazon-affiliated stores. Now Amazon has it fully stocked and at $149. Doesn't make sense, does it? You would think if they were ALREADY sold out, they would CONTINUE to be sold out through launch, when demand is at its highest.

360/Kinect bundles were never sold out - MS official site even had them in stock yesterday.

Xander7562759d ago

Yeah but I'm talking about the Kinect / Kinect Adventures bundle...

Why would you invest in all the marketing and then with purpose keep your stock low?

Sure you might create a sense of shortages but a lost sale is a lost sale and the risk on that gamble is too high.

Yes, I believe it was sold out and I've yet to read one piece of information that proves the opposite. All I see is anecdotal evidence at best and I've had first hand experience going out a bit today and not being able to find a Kinect sensor.
