USA Today Review: Microsoft Kinect marks big leap for motion gaming

USA Today: "It's difficult to imagine video games without the feel of analog sticks on your thumbs or buttons waiting to be pressed.

But Microsoft has allowed players -- particularly those of the casual persuasion -- to put those controllers down with Kinect, the sensor for Xbox 360 that represents a daring virtual step for motion control in video games."

Good review and daring indeed. Probably just as daring as Nintendo with Wii.

LOL 8-bit/gaminggamer disagreed with me.

A peripheral cant be considered as daring as basing your whole concept upon something.

gigaware2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

Yes it can when a company invests greatly in it. Microsoft is gambling the 360's future in motion with Kinect and standing in this generation.

Fishy Fingers2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

If Kinect isnt as successful as hoped, MS still have the 360 and it's current audience to fall back on, if the Wii hadnt been successful, Nintendo would of had to scrap the entire console.

Nintendo took the big risk, tried, and succeeded with something new, and like they've said recently, their gamble and their success pushed the others to follow suit.

Do you think Sony/MS would be releasing these peripherals if Nintendo hadnt established the medium of motion control in the first place?

gigaware2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

Stop trolling man sheesh. It was a huge gamble to invest so much money with so much riding on its success taking a different road in motion tech instead of simply copying the leader's tech down to the T.

No one will be talking about how the hardcore industry thinks Kinect should have this and kinect should perform like tha,t with nothing on the market to even compare its performance to. LOL

What we will be talking about are the sales for the next few months then the 2nd wave of Kinect games. Anybody talking about Move and it's lineup score etc? Nope.

ConanOBrien2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

don't feel too good about Move so they have much concern about Kinect. Otherwise, they shouldn't care to worry about Kinect reviews/sales.

How is it daring when it's using PS Eye's concept?

No Way2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

Say, just curious, would you consider Move to be 'daring?'

Motion2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

Which Kinect games so far are beyond the Eyetoys abilities?

Denethor_II2599d ago

Just as daring as the Wii. Well considering Nintendo passed on this exact tech, they must be twice as daring.

aviator1892599d ago

Seriously, why do you keep posting that review in every Kinect review article?

Omega42599d ago

Isn't it obvious? Kinect hardware and software is outscoring Move left and right it's basic damage control.

And I suppose the fact that you're trotting around this internet warzone with no more than a single bubble is because you've done nothing more than make decent well written and thought out, un-biased comments like the righteous little angel that you are?

strickers2599d ago

Actually most review score were higher for Move.IGN,Engadget,CVG.

Denethor_II2599d ago

You notice how you have to hold your hand icon and wait for the little circle to complete? Do you know what I think would be easier? Using a physical controller to press a button, not to mention quicker and more intuitive. Gimmick.

Shazz2599d ago

are core gamers trusting the reviews of newspapers now over gadget and gaming sites .

SkylineR2599d ago

Kinect isn't targeted at the audience in this warzone called N4G...

T9X692599d ago

Who actually "trusts" reviews anyway? All reviews are simply opinions, the people reviewing them are no different than you and I, they can just write better than us. If someone at IGN says a game is bad, but your friend says the game is good, are you going to trust IGN because they have a popular website?

No Way2599d ago (Edited 2599d ago )

Agreed. I don't 'trust' reviewers about games..
Although, what they say and write does give me insights.
However, a friend who enjoys most the same games I do,
If he tells me a game is good, chances are.. it's good. (To me.)
And, chances are, I would most likely be willing to pick it up.

But, in the end, they are only opinions, and only mine counts for me.

DiRtY2599d ago

That is a good review score.

watch out guys. I lost a bubble for accidently typing dfa. Totally doesn't even mean anything. Troll on player. Troll on.
