Times Square Kinect Buyers To Get $150 Gift

Kinect launches tonight at Midnight on the East Coast, and to celebrate, Microsoft is giving early adopters a $150 gift. The first 3,000 people to line up and purchase Kinect at the official launch party at Toys “R” Us Times Square will receive a free copy of Kinect Sports and Kinect Joy Ride, along with a one-year Xbox LIVE Gold subscription.

"People are already lined up, New York gamers. Check out this picture tweeted by Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg (...)
That picture was taken last night, too, so you know there are many more people now. So get out there and get in line, people... if you want a Kinect."

If Greenberg tweeted that pic I don't trust them to be Kinect buyers - maybe he just asked to take a pic? Doesn't look like a line to me. Can't even see the store!
150$ Is very very generous... desperate to sell?

And how do we REALLY know there are many more people now? Maybe there are less by now? Maybe a few of those guys had to run home to get a sandwich or use the bathroom?

Hmmm...

... it will make for a nice photo-op when you have thousands of people lining up to get their free Kinect, which will make it to CNN and the newspapers.

I guess if you can't make people stand in line for your product because there isn't that much demand for it yet, you're just going to have to bribe them into doing so, and thus faking it...(!)

I love my Xbox and PS3, but I couldn't care less about Kinect and Move...

You guys are looking dam desperate at this point. Posting a duplicate story so PS3 fanboys can troll the article is pathetic.

I mean, the average apartment is about the size of a closet, where do these people find the space to play?

How will people without hands use PS Move?

I guess Kinect is meant for a certain demographic.

lol I was just thinking the same thin Yi. They cant even give it away. Im not saying I wouldn't take one for free, but they obviously spent half a billion dollars not just in marketing, but buying their own product to make sure that it doesn't flop.
