All About The New Tactics Ogre's Music

When Masaharu Iwata and Hitoshi Sakimoto were called back to compose the soundtrack for the Tactics Ogre remake, they were originally expecting a pretty quick-and-easy port project. "In the beginning, I thought they were just porting the Super NES version over," Iwata said in an interview with Famitsu magazine published this week. "I figured they wanted the original music ported along with it, but once I heard more about the project, I realized that they had quite a lot of changes in mind. Still, the PSP TO retains the basic feel of the original version's graphics, so I tried to retain the basic melodies of the original game while fleshing out the rest of the sound. That's how I began my work, but when I gave my samples to [director Hiroshi] Minagawa, he told me to make it a bit fresher than that. So I tried my best to compose music that'd please both series fans and people who haven't played the game before." (PSP, Tactics Ogre Remake)
