Brent Adams from EpicBattleAxe.com drives to a Redbox that rents video games and gives some insight on the pros and cons.
Nice review. I was curious about how this would work. I have a red box just a block from my home but I never use it. Maybe I'll give it a look.
Meh...$2 a day, I much prefer blockbuster but since they're bust it seems I don't have much of a choice. I don't rent a lot of games so Gamefly is out of the question...guess it's Redbox then...at least until Blockbuster is truly gone.
$2 a day isn't bad. 7 days max to beat a game and only spent at max $16 - hell yeah.
It won't work well for me since it's tough for me to play the same game for so many hours (given I only have 1 day).
Nah thats a rip two bucks a day. I can go to my local video store and rent what ever game for $2.80 and thats for 2 days or 5 bucks for a week. Oh and even better i can keep that game for 30 days and owe 25 bucks and not even pay that late fee and still be able to rent games.
Still doesn't appeal to me. Wish they would lower it to the dollar a day like they do for the movies.
Movies only cost around $20 to buy and games are around $60 to buy, big difference. I do agree with you about wishing it was $1/day. Something for less is always better but I can see it from their point of view too. Maybe if it doesn't take off they might lower it in hopes it will succeed.
2 dollars is definitely a good deal to see if it's worth a buy. I'm sold, now to get it near where I live.
Redbox is still testing games in select cities, but they are branching out. You can check if there's one near you with games here: http://www.redbox.com/ads/g...
I never liked Redbox... Their selection is usually crap, I'd rather just go to Blockbuster especially since I have none very close to me anyway.
Dammit it's not available near me would tried it out....
Blockbuster Chapter 11ed so it's your only choice really. Unless you want to wait for gamefly discs.
Yeah, chapter 11 means they're still in business...I just rented a game like two hours ago.
Wow. That's pretty simple. Great for those not on gamefly. Or those that don't play many games a month. Though, it's different than movies. It'd only be good for 8 hour games. If you took a week to beat a game, it'd be 14 bucks it'd seem, which is about the same as gamefly.
My bottom line: I will NOT insert ANY disc w/ a "sticker" on it into my PS3.
nothing happens to your ps3 if u put a disk with a sticker on it. ive done it before from netflix (blu ray) and blockbuster online.
there is no problem. If it is only on one side especially towards the outer edge, then you could get some problems, other than that, no big deal.
thats pretty steep IMO. 2$ a day, who plays a game for a day anyways , 1$ a day would be perfect for me. lol
I love EBA. EBC is the only podcast worth following.
Yo, TalkRadar called...they want their props.
i like RedBox for movies, but they're something i can watch and return.. a game might take several days or even weeks to complete and that $2 a day charge adds up. i think a much better deal would have been $2 or $3 for the first day and then $1 for each additional day. but video games in RedBox works in other ways, too.. for $2 i can TRY OUT a game i'm interested in spending $60 on. that eliminates the "need" to depend on review sites to help me decide rather to invest in a game or not. now, for cheap, i can form my own opinion before buying.
Renting Fallout NV for $2 a day? Well, that's $1,000.00 down the drain.
