I'm happy for the kid! This was probably a really cool thing for him. I'm sure he felt proud of himself and he should be.
i almost teared up when the crowd cheered for him.
Good story and good for the kid.
Revenge of the nerds!
Nerds for the win!!!
Ya haaa. Cute video. :)
so is this the one who stinks?
Stinks? I think that all nerds at conventions stink..myself probably included lol. By the way sick GT5 story!
@GodzillaOwns Shall we call you stinky from now on?
Heck not even on conventions just at my computer science class non of the real nerds have ever heard of deodorant.
Hahaha. This is funny!!
Oh gawd I don't know if I'm a bad person for laughing or not but I couldn't help it. =) To be immortalized like this must be great though on the other hand.
This is just the type of feel-good story I was looking for right before going to work.
Lol. Win! Btw...the Starcraft II launch smelled TERRIBLE! PC gamers smell the worst!
I guess they spend all their money make their systems "superior" instead of buying personal hygiene items. Consoles FTW again!
LOL... I own all consoles and a reasonable powerful PC... and i never smell bad at all...
@YourFlyness Pshh, whatever. Your girlfriend thinks I smell great. =D
do most WoW players sound like that? If he has something wrong with him I'm sorry, but if he is "normal" wtf is wrong with him?
This is probably the first time he's left his house in years, he just has to polish his social skills.
it definitely seemed like more than just a social disorder. maybe mild autism. either way, that was great. i'm a bit envious. i can't even remember events in my own life (from yesterday) with that level of detail.
Everyone can remember a lot, some have just harder finding a working system to remember with :) Anyway, the kid seems kinda off and it is sad in a way. But as long as you are managing life so who cares really?
and i was right...he has a mild case of autism...specifically asperger's syndrome. regardless, took guts for him to do what he did. much respect.
Some people are afraid of the spotlight.
I remember being interviewed by local news about a benefit concert my band was playing...the bright light and microphone just shut me up I couldn't believe how stupid I was acting
apparently nothing is wrong with him....for him to point out something that even Blizzard themselves couldn't answer..lol. I guess in that case your question should b.."is something wrong with Blizzard?" Anyway, that must've been pretty embarrassing for Blizzard... Game on!
Are we really using this guy as an example of victory for gamers? Not to be completely rude but this kid needs to stop playing WoW and reading all its book and learn how to have some social skills. This guy should be the perfect example of what not to be like and is the stereotype of all nerds and he gives everybody who plays games a bad name. Im not saying you should be passionate about video games, I know I sure am. I am just saying that people absolutely need to get out and learn how to interact with people on a regular basis and learn how to function in society. You don't have to be the coolest guy (I am far from it) but you should at least be able to verbalize a few sentences without sounding like this guy.
i didn't even occur to you that it might NOT be an issue of playing too much wow? you ever consider that maybe there's just a bit more to it? i hate feeling like i'm being politically correct, but you should really stop and think before you pass judgement on someone. whatever problems you think this kid has, i bet we won't see him in here pointing out the problems you have.
Then why didn't YOU go up there and ask them that very question? I'm sure it wouldn't have been that hard for you to do, since you seem to think ANYONE can be that smart.
I didn't go up their because I neither play WoW nor did I attend BlizzCon. I also don't think it has anything to do with intelligence, he happened to have read a single detail in a book that didn't match with Cataclysm.
I'm pretty sure he talks that way because of a mental illness, not because he lacks social skills.
find pleasure in reading those books and playing those games. If he is a sufferer of mental illness then we should be praising him even more. This guys love for WoW is inspiring to me, it makes him feel that little bit more 'normal', which is a stupid use of the word but thats what it is. I salute you my friend, you do what makes you happy!
Actually based on the video I would guess that he has a form of autism. ususally people who have autism latch on to one thing that makes them feel comfortable. For him it may very well be WOW. I have some experience with autism because my cousin has it and my son is borderline autistic and has adhd. I am not sure about my cousin because i don't see him much but my son can sit for days and play legos because it is one of the few things that makes him feel calm and relaxed. Maybe next time you should just take a minute to actually think before you speak because from my point of view you are the one who gives gamers a bad name not him.
"uhh... We'll fix that."
I am scared shitless,.. what is worse ,.. bro has a point,..

I Didnt Understand A Word He Said, Then Again It Is Nerds Language
cant believe some people hate on red shirt kid. "what a nerd reading wow books , and umm pointing out plot holes, and umm stuff..." whats the last book you read eh champ? if this kid lacked social skill what makes you think he would have the balls to attend a heavily packed(and apparently smelly) convention? what gives him the strength to stand in line for a long time only to ask his fav developer his question? people that lack social skills stay at home, they do not attend blizzcon. just because he does not fit you socially acceptable norm does not mean he is not accepted by some group somewhere. hell his you tube vid has 1.25 million views. that seems to be pretty socially accepted to me
Some people are just mean, cynical bastards.
with HeartDisease So what Girls, normal people, and small animals don't accept his kind....He wears the heck out of a red shirt, can you? and they had a great movie back in the 80's
I`m proud for the kid but just by seeing that 59 seconds it proves he plays way to much and people like him well need something in life to encourage them to live it in a more free way.
