X1 Prototype Full Reveal

Polyphony Digtial has today fully revealed the "X1 Prototype", a project in conjunction with Red Bull Racing.

All races that exist in today's world are restricted by regulations. However the X1 is a machine born from a fantastic "what if" dream of Polyphony; "What would the fastest racing car on Earth, free of any and all regulations look like?"

0-120mph: 2.8sec
0-200mph: 6.1sec

The Veryon(fastest production car) can do 0-60mph in 2.5 sec

The Bugatti Veyron is real though.

Would be cool if they included the Chaparral 2J and BT46B01. They look crazy.

alphakennybody2583d ago (Edited 2583d ago )

at the moment its(bugatti) the peak of motor-engineering. now imaging x1 replacing f1's *drools* wipeout on wheels -weapons.

poindat2583d ago

The Chaparral 2J was in GT4, so it'll most likely return to GT5 as a standard car.

No human could withstand the constant lateral G forces for very long, certainly after a 2 hour F1 race with 3-5 lateral G the drivers wouldnt be doing much longer, doubling that sort of force would tire the fittest driver in a half hour or so.

It would be much like the best aircraft, its no surprise the next generation fighter aircraft in 15-20 years may not have pilots in them at all, the machine technology and performance is capable of exceeding the reasonable tolerances of the squidgy organic lifeform behind the controls. Indeed a fit pilot might be capable of limited 10G manoeuvering but even present full composite aircraft are able to exceed this without excess strain on the airframe.

As for this car in GT5 i hope that its use is quite limited and restricted because clearly it will be the fastest car in the game and i hope it cannot be used and abused to unbalance the career mode races for example.

zireno2582d ago

well, the chaparral 2j is included in gran turismo psp so given the fact that you can import the cars you have unlocked in that game over to gt5 it's a given.

Blaine2581d ago (Edited 2581d ago )

So little faith in Polyphony... Of course the car will be very restricted in the events it can participate! If it's anything like the past titles, most events will be limited to certain car classes anyway. And some extreme cars aren't even allowed in any events... like the Model-T!

This car, although really cool, isn't real, so I doubt Polyphony will allow you to use it outside time trials.

What amazes me is the 0-120mph in 2.8 sec. Usually for a car to accelerate double the speed, it would take more than double the time (i.e. 0-60mph time < [0-120mph time/2]). But the X1 did it in exactly double the time. And at 0-120mph in 2.8 sec, by the time the Veyron Super Sport hits 0-60 mph, the X1 would be at 107mph...

That is just amazingly fast.

hennessey862582d ago

could a f1 driver handle one of those, I dont think anyone could

Organization XII2581d ago

well sebastian vettel was able to handle it quite good, so it must be not that hard for an f1 driver..

The Lazy One2583d ago

It's acceleration and top speed aren't that amazing for an F1 car. It's the cornering speed that makes it so fast. The generated downforce is ridiculous, so it can corner almost twice as fast as an F1 car.

marinelife92582d ago

I am totally playing Gran Turismo with my racing firesuit on!

Noble Spartan2582d ago

damn i think forza just died. oh well.

specialguest2581d ago

It looked like real footage for a moment there.

Organization XII2581d ago

Holy shit dude first time i viewed it totally thought there's some real model of the car and they're showcasing a real footage of the car, about time we mistake reality from a video game, even CGI cant touch GT5's real time reality..

"8.25G greatly exceeds the G's felt during the launch of the Space Shuttle, and is roughly the same as that of a jet fighter plane at full afterburner. It is a figure at the very limits of what a human body can withstand."
I wonder what I would have to do to get this car in GT5

Ilikegames762583d ago (Edited 2583d ago )

fast car. I too, would be smiling like Sebastian Vettel, if I was driving this amazing car in the game.

MK24ever2583d ago (Edited 2583d ago )

... just showed very simply why this game is what it is...
