Pachter: Wii sales to surpass PS3 and Xbox 360 during Christmas season

Xbox, I don't know. Will be interesting to see how well Kinect will do. If it's ads and marketing will succeed.

If I didn't already own a Wii, I'd have definitely purchased the red one.

The numbers this holiday season should be pretty interesting, with Kinect and Move in the mix, and the possibility of a pre-Christmas GT5 release.

I still think it's likely Wii will dominate.

He said Red Dead Redemption will sell a few hundred thousand units yet it sold 5 million.
He said PlayStation Move will sell a few ten thousands yet it sold 2.5 million.

The only correct stuff he said were not a prediction but fact: that Microsoft is all about sucking money from Xboxers.

Or he may be playing safe with predictions knowing that the Wii still appeals to a lot of different people. Then again with the PS3 and 360 hitting affordable prices the Wii might not be as appealing.

I'd say captain obvious has arrived, but there are still people that claim that the PS3 will overtake the Wii.

I don't get the logic of that. 1 console outsells other every single week, and the one that sells less will eventually overtake it...I must have missed that reverse-compounding formula in maths.

Seeing as how the Wii will be gone in another year, and the PS3 will be around for 5, 6, maybe 7,(look at PS2) Lower weekly sales could still lead up to higher sales, just depends on how long both are avalible on the market.
Once nintendo comes out with another console they will stop making and selling Wii's.
I'm not really sure why Nintendo, or Xbox for that matter wouldn't still be selling there last gen consoles PS2 still sells quite well and moves lot's of games. Plus is very cheap to make so they sell it for 99 bucks and still make a good profit.

The Wii may be more of a Christmas gift than a XBOX360 or a Playstation 3 which may cause a surge in sales during this time. It is after all the least expensive of the three. I have the opinion that Move and Kinect will hurt the Wii from now on, we shall see.
