PC World: Fable III review

PC World's Matt Peckham writes: "While "released to soon" would be going too far--all the quests and basic play mechanics work well enough--Fable III feels like a less even and at times slightly cruder revision of Fable II. It's still attempting stuff more interesting than anything else in its slightly-hard-to-pin-down genre (call it action-roleplaying if you must), and for that alone it's an easy recommend. But if you come to it expecting the sort of profound-at-the-time ideas Fable II executed with panache, you're probably going to come away a trifle disappointed."

The story is too old to be commented.

I hate these out of 5 reviews, if 4/5 is the grade below 5 and 5/5 is as good as 100% how do we know whats what, so Uncharted 2 would be 5, alan wake would be 4, Crackdown 2 is a 4, Moden Warfare 2 is a ???, it's too vague, we need an out of 10 or percentage. 4/5 you could either say, oooh it's near perfect, only one score away! Or you could say, meh only 80%. Anything scoring below 4 I wouldn't touch, what would Medal of Honor have been to PC world a 3?

And here I was thinking the written part of the review was the most important part, not the number stuck on the end. Times seem to have changed, I wouldn't be surprised if people don't even bother reading reviews these days, and just look at the score.

Its good to read the review and make a decision from there not look at score and make a decision.

Your second to last word is the answer...

Agreed, there really should be some sort of standard preferably based on 10 or 100 points. Been saying it for a while but no one listens lol.

Why? A 10 based, or 100 based scale just allows for minute things like .1 to be seen as difference. Since really what are the differences between a 9.6 and a 9.7? Are they not good games on their own right.

A system like this works best since what it does is group the good games with the good and vice versa.

lol its good to see people talking about the score and not the review /s

numbered scoring gives an instant review summary. of course the body of a review should be read as well if you're at all interested in the game/movie/whatever. but review scores still have their place.

@Jimmy Riddle: despair not! there are those of us who know better than to read numerical score ONLY.
