Another video demonstrates the damage model and physics effects in Gran Turismo 5.
Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watc... One things for sure: the sparks looks awesome :) Hopefully the delay is not too long!
Great but STOP CHANGING THE VIEW. Its bloody annoying.
Looks awesome. looks like the particle effects are in a high resolution too!
Old video, re-used again by another site, lol.
its an old build too.
Yes, it's old footage! I hate videogamezone.de
Im a huge GT fan........ but enough with the gameplay footage. We all know this game will be the cream of the crop when it comes to the racing genre......but... WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE!!!! My bday is NOv 5th i was looking forward to having GT5 on nov 2.... now who knows when to expect it. AS #1 said i hoe the wait isnt long, i want the game now.
I wish the damage was as destructive as burnout, but those car companies would never want for their cars to get smashed into pieces.
I'd say only in GT6 will the Granturismo Franchise go from PURE simulator (no crashing or crap like that) to a natural blend between simulator and realistic crashes (from crash physics to parts flying off, wheels coming off, etc) I assure you when GT6 comes out (PS4 maybe!? maybe not?! ) we'll see cars wil the same physics engine, but with the ability to flip over, parts fly off, wheels fly off, bumpers move when hit, etc... but that sh!t takes time, too much time, especially with such detailed cars. + your point...car companies probably wouldn't allow it, but It'll come! one day =D
Head on about five times and the merc badge was hanging off, very realistic
Looks AMAZING! Thanks for that.
Those above two images looked dire. Since when did metal deform like melted plastic?
there was nothing amazing about this video. The damage was just like in Forza 3. In this video you have to admit it. Im going to use the same argument that was used against Forza. You're telling me that, thats all the damage that car would sustain being hit TWICE by cars at that speed??? Im still getting GT 5 day one but this video did nothing for me. Im sure there are better vids out there.
Also the car suffered no apparent handling/mechanical damage. This tells me it was not the Sim/Pro damage model being applied, just the arcade level. r.
I agree just looks the same as gt 4 physics in this video just a bit of cosmetic damage. Still, will be an awesome game and if you don't buy this game because you can't total your car then you need to perhaps look at your driving attitude again or this is not the game for you. I am not expecting burnout level of damage but it is a step forward.
There are many factors to consider, such as: A) Was the car Premium? B) Would the full effect of the damage be apparent by a Premium car if it was hit by a NON-Premium car. -End statement
at 200 mph and no scar on the right side of the car? WTF
Car companies don't want their cars smashed up for some reason.
and it's ridiculous
what about GRID, why did they allow their cars to be crashed up in that? :S
becuase car companies dont give a fuck about grid, as for GT5, they see it as a way to advertise their car's beauty and performance. thats why car companies dont want full damage on their cars in GT5
ah, it makes some sense but it's just stupid that car companies don't allow full damage on cars :/
...sh*ts all over this. Sorry, but if you're a real racing fan, AND you like realistic damage, you already know it's true. The graphics are great, obviously...but the tacked-on physics/damage modeling PD has attempted to implement is just embarrassing. The sad thing is, that's likely the sole reason for the long dev time, and delay.
...from 3 non-(real)racing fans, who likely never played ANY of the TOCA games. I suspect there will be more disagrees, because there's a TON of clueless Sony/GT fanboys here. :o
i played all toca games and still think it's not that good
Yeah that's going to win over a ton of agrees. /s I don't race to crash. I race to cross the finish line without making contact with any cars. Any sim fan knows that. Damage only matters if you play on expert and I doubt most people that complain about damage play with damage set to simulation any way. Do you play that way Spidey? If not, why are you even bothering giving an opinion about damage? Visual damage means nothing to me because I race in the cockpit view. The only damage I care about is simulation, how it effects performance and handling. If you want to crash cars go play Paradise or GRID. Edit: Oh and BTW. The only way to really play a game like GT5 is on a wheel. Last I checked the PS3 supports nearly any wheel that has USB or bluetooth capabilities. The 360, up until Fanatec 911 S (only 10,000 made), only supported the MS and Logitech FX wheel both of which are 270 degrees of rotation and no shifter or clutch. I would know since I dropped nearly $500 on a Fanatec just to play Forza 3. Oh and Forza 3 is built for the MS 270 degree rotation where GT5 is built for 900 degrees. <- This is what matters most to sim fans.
This title is so full of bullshit. 1. The rubbing of the car being pushed against the wall should NOT have lead to a bumper hanging off. 2. The bumper hanging off is messing with the Polys on the front of the car. So the bumper is actually looking odd and not on the outside of the car. 3. The white Benz gets T-BONED at full speed and not a single Glass window is blown out, nor any kind of impact on the door or scratch from the impact. Not even a dent. If this is the kind of "amazing" damage to expect in GT5. Then this game has lost a sale from me. I sure as hell hope this is an old build.
lmao go play burnout you tool
Good god I hope the reviewers aren't as nit-picky against this amazing game as people on N4G are.
indeed it is amazing, amazing that we were told this would put Forza 3 damage to shame, yet in forza 3 when you Tbone a car at 200 mph it can flip, the windows break, the mirrors fly of, it sounds like two cars just crashed, and not like you just opened a bottle of champagne, there is a nice dent, and the car becomes difficult to drive afterwards. This is not even at FM3's level let alone superior? WTF?
