M2G Writes: Popular gaming site Eurogamer has let its Fable III score slip, and although there is no text to match it yet we still thought it may interest some.
an 8 in eurogamer?? AAA confirmed
is AAA to you folks. Whatever happend to Uncharted is a 8.9 so its a flop?.
flip flopping. 'they' had to lower the twipple aey bar to compensate. Its a return to reality for some of them as 8.x was always a great score until dumb/honest terms were used in dumb/manipulative ways by dumb fanboys and the media. its funny watching the same people flip flopping. Anyway i downloaded part 2 for free some im gunna finish that then ill look towards this [email protected] disagrees...flip floppers. If you've been here long enough you'd know that games under 9 were considered flops a couple years.. It was asinine then its asinine now
Well Eurogamer is pro 360 right? So doesn;t that make Fable 3's score a bit high? Not trolling just asking.
Actually the logic is "If it's Eurogamer, add +2" Which is why he said "AAA confirmed". People have always treated Eurogamer to a different scale because there is some code here that people agree to with adding "+2" to any Eurogamer score. It was said with God of War's review earlier today. Of course that rule is total bullocks, let's face it, people whine about the review sites only when they don't end up being what they want it to be. In that sense reviews are like drunken sailors and the gamers are like women who keep going back despite always having their expectations crushed. I like Eurogamer, they review differently, don't always agrees with them, but who really agrees with everything a site says?
I rarely agree with any reviews, but IGN tends to be the one I go by. Sometimes they're higher than I'd want them to be, and sometimes they're lower--in the end, it balances out. If it's PS3 exclusive, I consider their score of 8.5 or higher a must-try (in some cases...). If it's multiplat, I consider a 9.0 or higher a must-try. I don't have a 360, so I don't know if they're biased or not. Eurogamer, on the other hand, is ALWAYS waaaaay off.
I like the hypocrisy of the Sony fanboys who were calling Halo Reach a flop because it scored a 8 in a few reviews. Just stfu already. Whenver a PS3 exclusive score a 8 it's ''AAA'' when its the other way around its not? get it together already.
the idiots and their scores. like a score means anything. how can you go by a score without finding out if the good and bad points are also what you consider good and bad or what annoys the reviewer will annoy you??? why am i even on this site, i am smarter than this
Lol, both sides play this nonsense.. flop this, flop that. Aaaa, AAA! But, if you really wanna pay attention to someone with one bubble, then.. An 8 is a great score, no matter how you look at it. On both sides.. That said, I'm happy to see that score, as I'm eagerly waiting to get Fable 3.
By this logic, if we were to add +2 to every Eurogamer score and neglect that AAA refers to budget not quality, look what happens to some of the back catalog: AAA Confirmed??? MotorStorm, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Heavenly Sword, Siren: Blood Curse, inFamous, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time AAAA Confirmed??? Killzone 2, God of War III, Resistance 2, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Heavy Rain As compared to for 360: AAA Confirmed??? Crackdown, Perfect Dark Zero (yeah, I know), Lost Odyssey, Gears of War, Halo: ODST, and Mass Effect AAAA Confirmed??? Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Fable 2, Mass Effect 2, and Forza Motorsport 3 Will this finally get you all to play some of the older games that were, in fact, pretty good? An 8/10 is a great score. Hell, I'd even consider picking up a game that received a 7/10 if I'm really interested in it (Enslaved). The point is, there are many games out there that could just be your cup of tea. Don't let a score throw you off. It's just a number! Besides, there are many sister sites to Eurogamer: Spain, Portugal, etc. Which one are we referring to? Also, I have a hard time take anybody else's opinion who equates Resistance 2 to be >>>>> than Resistance: FoM.
I'm so confused. One day AAA refers to the game's production budget. The next day AAA refers to the game's review scores. I wish people would make up their minds.
Your retarded if you can't see Uncharted is AAA. You don't have to read reviews for games like those. For Fable 3, the game is on the fence.
@alpha-male22 actually.. not trolling here it's actually: PS3 exclusive: add +2 (2.5 if it's a shooter) 360 exclusive: add +1 (which still makes fable 3 a heluvagame) Multiplat.. usually add a +1 as well.. i'm really not trying to sound biased here but they were the ones that gave halo3 a 10/10 so i don't think that they're totally reliable
You missed the point of that comment, and so did the 50 tards who agreed with you.
I don't know if a facepalm will do the trick this time, I think I'll attempt to crush this energy drink can on my eye-socket instead.... / AAA mean development budget, now to the mods, can we put 'AAA' in the bad language filter so I never have to see some idiot use that as part of their playground food-fight again.
Thank you, Im really sick of that being used as a term to mean quality.
i am glad you got your bubble back
Kind of disappointing score considering they gave Fable 2 a 10.
They gave Fable 2 10/10? :/
AAA really means A+, which is 90 and above. Fable is not AAA but an A(8) is still a good score and fans of the games or genre wouldn't be disappointed.
AAA has nothing to do with the score of a game. Stop spreading ignorance. It has to do with budget. That's it.
Triple is a PR term you noob. Review scores have nothing to do with a game being AAA or not. AAA is decided by hype, marketing strength/budget and the amount of money poured into the development of the title.
Eurogamer is pro 360 and always have been they always add points for it being a 360 game.
what if its a 9 or 10 do you +2?
lol. It's like the gamespot rule. Add 1 to the score out of 10 and you get how good it really is.
God of War Psp 7 those guys sucks... Really ? Anyway 8 is good
Actually, 2 different reviewers gave 2 different scores.
7 out of 10 is still a good score. Remember 5 means an average game, so anything above that could be worth a play through if you think you'd like it. Game reviews aren't harsh enough nowadays, if its not a 9 or above people automatically think that it has failed so the scores have had to be pushed up for all games. Scoring systems really mean nothing nowadays...its just some guys opinion, hardly ever based on aspects of the game. So if a reviewer is having a shit day, the score could be reflected in their mood. Games should be rated on a benchmark set of criteria to have any meaning.
8? Not bad. Eurogamer is usually pretty tough on reviews, so I see this as a good sign for upcoming Fable 3 reviews. When does the embargo lift anyway?
2010..….…........the year of disappointments. No surprise here though.
an 8 from eurogamer is a dissapointment?
2010 was a great year for exclusives. Xbox got Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell, Halo Reach, Fable 3. PS3 got MAG, God Of War 3, Modnation Racers, Gran Tursimo 5. Not to mention a great selection of multiplatforms, I think you just suck as a gamer and are to picky.
ME2 and Conviction exclusives? HA!
Add RDR, Heavy Rain, Black Ops, SM Galaxy 2, Starcraft, Ghost of Sparta, MGS Peacewalker.....
Meh on Starcraft, Heavy Rain. Black Ops isn't even actually out yet, but almost every single time a CoD game is out people go "GOTY Material right here!" mode.
Um yea. Are those games on PS3? No, they are exclusive to Xbox and PC, just like FFXIV is exclusive to PS3 and PC. I guess Starcraft 2 isn't exclusive to PC since it's also on Mac which is a different OS then right? @siyrobbo - If my Mac is a PC, then why are the specs for Starcraft 2 labeled, PC Minimum Requirements and Mac Minimum Requirements. If they was the same, wouldn't it just say PC Minimum Requirements and put a / under OS? There are tons of games for PC which I can't play on my Mac, explain that. Oh if Mac is a PC then why are there separate downloads for Steam, and why can't I play Alien Swarm on my Mac? Steam clearly says Alien Swarm is on PC, yet I can't play it on my Mac.
a pc is a personal computer, a mac is a pc
Different platforms... If a game is developed for PC and a console then it can be played in MULTIple platforms. Pretty simple if you put about 1 second of thought... Maybe 2
@T9X69 You do know that ME2 is coming out on PS3 soon. :p
starcraft 2 is meh for you? wow what the hell do you play, pokemon??
@MrChow666 My thoughts exactly. Only problem ive got with it is that its only 1/3 of the game it should have been in the sp department. That said i liked the ending.
An 8 from anyone isn't a disappointment. Why do you spoiled brats need to be told something's a 10/10 before you'll like it? @radphil Too bad Mass Effect 1 isn't. Get it on the PC, I don't see any reason to get the Ps3 version, especially because you're still waiting for it.
wasnt it shown somewhere that eurogamer has serious tendancies towards microsoft games. So an 8 from eurogamer really means a 6 or 7. Should be a good game regardless.
Silly you. Eurogamer is not one person. You can't make such generalizations so hastily.
IDK much about EG but I have certainly seen arguments using scores from them and Metacritic to support what Smokey is saying. Whether they're right or otherwise is a moot point because I haven't looked into it myself but having actually DONE that after a few complaints about Edge I do think sites aren't above either a back of the mind bias(like a local paper has towards a local sports team meaning MS would get better treatment in western sites because a higher percentage of their readers own a 360 and it doesn't pay a publication to savage what their readers have/like/support and they can be a lot less charitable to other competitors and suchlike. I don't doubt that Ninty and Sony get a similar effect in Japanese sites etc)towards a certain company or nationality of developer(Edge mark UK made games really softly)or even a sly editorial bias against a company. This can manifest easily by giving exclusives from one side of the divide to the wrong people to review(give a reviewer a game in a genre they either dislike or don't understand and unfavourable reviews are likely)or just don't give them enough time to do a decent job with expansive games-there's tons of tricks an editor with a grudge could use. Again, I'm not saying there aren't sites that are biased towards Sony and biased against MS or any other mix you like to think of but the fact is bias DOES seem to exist in some areas of the gaming press and it's not always the semi understandable readership bias I hit on first(that's just basic survival technique for most publications to write what their readers want to hear-by and large)and CAN appear to be policy in some cases. IDK what the case is at EG but having played a good bit of Ghost of Sparta at a friends(he's lcuky enough to be reviewing games currently)I DO think 7/10 is a bit dodgy for what appears, to me, the best game I've ever played on a handheld-even better than PW or any of the classics on DS for my money. That said, if they're just tough on their scores it makes Fable3's 8/10 look like it's an amazing game! Seriously, if it's a better experience than GoS then it's REALLY is some game as I'd put GoS level with GOW3 in pretty much every area where it CAN compete. But, to fanboy, whether it's one person or many people bias, or the appearance of it, doesn't necessarily become harder to achieve just because the people involved are more than one. No, it would just need a sly editor or a few sly editorial staff to make it so-and that's not including the "local team" effect which just happened at every local paper I ever worked for. If you want totally objective you won't find it while people write what you read, trust me, as it's too easy to be swayed by your readership, your editors and, importantly, your advertisers to the point where you might not even get onto yourself looking, and being, biased in what you write. Again, I'm in NO WAY saying I think EG are dodgy over this-they might be but I haven't looked into it to have a solid opinion. I'm just not closed to the possibility of sites BEING biased or even bent as they really, really can be.
I could be wrong, it also might have been edge.. I swear there was a study across all reviews done by a particular company.... doh.
I think this is a fallacy of composition. Because one person slips up, the whole site slips up.
Fanb0y my hombré, that made my afternoon lol.
Smokey... I think you mean the article showing PS3 exclusives generally being underscored. I don't remember if it's EDGE or Eurogamer also, but somebody will probably link it soon.
Didn't even get halfway through Fable 2 so I think I'll have to give this one a miss.. There was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't have the time to finish it & so traded it in 'cause there was another game I wanted to buy & I wanted to save some cash.. =/ Maybe I'll buy Fable 2 back sometime & once I've completed it, I'll look into Fable 3.. Yeah
Ah, same score they gave Red Dead Redemption which is my GOTY choice. Anyway, it's Eurolamer.. garbage.
just remember is one guys opinion
LOL who cares. My copy arrives tomorrow! XD
Good for you, I hope you enjoy the game.
Eurogamer gave Gears and Red Dead an 8 and Alan Wake a 7. So i suppose 8 is a very positive score for Fable3.
Hey guys Mastodon here :) How are ya? Hey you know what I think? I think you should stop living your fanboy lives by the words of some journalist who doesn't even have the proper degrees and start PLAYING video games... If you enjoyed Fable I & II than perhaps III is for you - or you can try GameFly or your idiot friends who buy everything (everyone has an idiot gamer friend). In no way am I saying that an 8 isn't a good score nor am I saying that the writing of Eurogamer isn't valid - I'm saying that an opinion should not change your wanting to experience something first hand. If money is an issue than wait and play something else. PS - because Fanboys don't actually play games they don't know what the term AAA means. If doesn't mean a game gets a HUGE score... It means that the amount of money and marketing put behind the game by its parent company was over a certain amount. If a normal game is like 5 to 15 million than a triple A title is 20 to 50 million - this is me just explaining its not 100% accurate. Fable is a AAA title because it has a massive marketing campaign behind it and it cost more than 10 million to develop. You can also take into account the length of development - not in this case but in many cases. A game developed for more than 3 years tends to be AAA in reference. I just wanted to send a message to everyone on N4G who isn't a fanboy, I'll let the "console gwar" get back into full effect now - since it seems that in 2010 not everyone owns every console (ridiculous as that is).
N4G needs to change it's name to T4F "TROLLING FOR FANBOYS" MAAAaaaaaaan!!! People, just let it go. Fable 3 average score so far is around 8.5 and that is well above average. The fact that some reviewers scored it a 96 or 9 is even better. I have played the game and it was an amazing experience for me. Why? Because I play for fun not for allegiance. Is it perfect? No, but no game is perfect. They all have flaws, glitches, etc. But why does 360 games have to be a 10 in order for it not to suck? I mean this board is about Fable 3 an RPG and I keep reading about Uncharted which isn't an RPG. Or Killzone or all these other PS3 games. If you want to try and make a game scored at an 8 a bad game then you are in the wrong board. Another site reviewed it at a 6. Go there have all the fun you like. And I get tired of people saying if it comes out on PC it's not an exclusive. It is a console exclusive. Yes it's on pc but not yet...and a pc is not a console. So if you want to get technical it's a timed exclusive. How about that? Better now? We have 3 consoles this generation and a pc is not one of them. So if it comes out on a console and the pc but no other console has it...its a console exclusive. Well unless the sony boys will go to war with pc gamers as well...I mean c'mon...Fable 3 is a great game, the reviews shows that and no matter how you spin it those that want to play it will buy it and play it and enjoy it on their 360 consoles. If you are loosing sleep at that thought then you need medication and professional counseling.
Its the internet, what did you expect would happen when people can say whatever they want without repercussions? If it annoys you simply ignore it, the attention youre now giving them is exactly what they are after. Suppose we all know who they are.
