Rumor: Sonic Colors May Get HD Port, Mario & Sonic 3 Not Sports Related

SEGAbits "So the long and the short of it is this, last year some random guy turned up on a site full of random people known as ‘4chan’. Calling himself ‘Wentos the Traveling Salesman’ he claimed to be an insider from Sega with a lot of beans to spill.

Like some online Mystic Meg he then dispenses some rather vague predictions and info on upcoming Sonic games. For reasons unknown to me people took stock in what this anonymous tipster had to say. Apparently many of his predictions did come true, albeit pretty vague ones I think anyone could have taken a stab in the dark at."

Please release sonic Colors on other consoles.

Though thought the rules where only the ones it is about.

Sonic games most of the time get ignored on the PS3 or 360 for the most part as it is and suffer from ridiculous frame rate issues. This could be completely different but I think it would just be safer for colors to be focusing on 1 console and then the DS version being all Sonic rush style.

Framerate issues. But they had framerate issues in the past games (see wii port of Unleashed) and now they got it right. Looks great.

Unleashed had too good graphics and they tried to run it too fast. They should have slowed him down, took the werehog off and it would have been great.

It's too bad too. Games that aren't in a more realistic style, just don't perform as well with the non Nintendo crowd.

"The technology and design plan is all set up to do the port on Sonic Team’s end,” he said. “Of course, they need strong sales to justify releasing it on the other two platforms (with enhancements, more money spent, etc) in the first place, so it’s all up to you guys.”

YES! Sonic Colors actually looks really good for a sonic title, looks like Sonic Unleashed, but without the stupid werehog parts. PORT IT OVER TO MOVE! Hopefully the reviews will be good, and the target demographic on Wii will boost sales enough for a port!

Redempteur4924d ago

not a sports game ? Well finally ..will they have the ballzs to do a platforming game ?

Zackstorm4924d ago

I honestly hope not...

The Mario and Sonic games are developed, if I'm not mistaken, by Sega. No offense to Sega, but they appear to only just be getting the hang of how to put their own mascot into a game.

If it's not a sports game, I'd expect something like Mario and Sonic Party or something.

Miyamoto will not let mario have a bad platformer. PERIOD!

Sonic Game Writers Had ‘Very Little Say’ On Story Scripts

The writing duo behind Sonic games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost World reveal they have little creative control over their game scripts.

-Foxtrot94d ago

They need to start letting people take inspiration from the comics, there's a ton of great stuff to take inspiration from.

phoenixwing92d ago

My beef is why even hire writers if you're just going to control the whole process. I'd be very upset as a writer if someone did that. A job is a job though.

DarXyde92d ago

Performative for optics, I would think.

It's like the US Congress holding a vote to "denounce the evils of socialism." It literally did absolutely nothing about anything and was a complete waste of everyone's time (and tax dollars—which is its own irony, by the way)

Dumbest thing in the world, but if you hire writers, it looks like you made a serious effort to make something great.

Do you remember when the original Suicide Squad movie was coming out? How much did we hear about Killer Croc's actor watching cannibal videos to get into character? Or even the "incredible lengths" Jared Leto went through to personify Joker on and off set?

It looks better when people think you're taking it seriously.

XiNatsuDragnel93d ago

Pretty much confirmed that SEGA controls everything about sonic no derivations fr

Profchaos92d ago

Nothing new sonic forces was meant to be far darker then sega got cold feet and they did the same old power of friendship ending

Sonic Colors on Nintendo DS - The Sister Release Also Worthy of a Remaster

The Wii release of 2010's Sonic Colors received a remake for modern consoles, but what about the Nintendo DS sister title?

ZeekQuattro257d ago

Back in the day you would get cases every now and then where the handheld version of a game was better. Chrono Trigger DS comes to mind. Not only did it have the cut-scenes from the PS1 release it also had new content that tied into Chrono Cross.
