Media Create has released an expanded listing of the best-selling games from Japan. Exact data for titles in the top 10 including Square Enix's Lord of Arcana and Kirby's Epic Yarn have been revealed.
Seems consumer faith in SE has fallen. Monster Hunter has sold amazingly well on the PSP. Namco's God Eater, a MH clone, sold very well with a 270k opening week. Yet SE's MH clone falls shy of 70k opening?
"Seems consumer faith in SE has fallen. Monster Hunter has sold amazingly well on the PSP. Namco's God Eater, a MH clone, sold very well with a 270k opening week. Yet SE's MH clone falls shy of 70k opening?" Well, there's a number of things to consider here. 1) There are only so many consumers with only so much money. Therefore, with the already existing Monster Hunter...(Monster Hunter 3 comes out in early December!), and wildly popular God Eater (God Eater Burst right around the corner!), the market finds itself pretty saturated with those types of games. Series loyalty is a big deal wherever you go, and so I'd be surprised if a lot of people are simply holding onto there cash for one or both of the new God Eater and/or new Monster Hunter. Square is the new kid on the block in this group. Perhaps if Square Enix had beaten Namco Bandai to the punch and gotten LoA out 2 years ago, it'd be the reverse? Of course no one can say for sure. Perhaps there's not as much overlapping audience with Pokemans, but it is also important to note that Black and White are also a recent release. 2) I don't think faith in Square has dropped very much. I *wish* it would, because I think it kind of deserves to, but people still freaking lined up to buy the Kingdom Hearts cellphone port. And when versus XIII comes out? Expect it to sell boatloads. Tactics Ogre? Will sell well. Birth by Sleep Final Rehash? A huge paycheck waiting to happen. The FF14 fiasco and general underwhelming aftertaste a lot of people have about FF13 have caused a lot more internet whining than actual financial impact, at this point. It'll take more blunders than those to actually change the behavior of the masses.
Click "disagree" if you like, anonymous internet user. That is, if you really can't put anything into words. I presented facts and a logical conclusion. What do you have to add? Nothing?
Way to go, Japan. Way to go.

I hope if it sells like that in US and EU we will get a full fledged console sequel. Here's to hope!
