Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō announced for PS3/PSP

Enterbrain's Weekly Famitsu magazine is revealing on Thursday that Bandai Namco Games will ship the Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō (The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya) "wandering adventure" game on the Sony PSP and PlayStation 3 consoles next year. The anime production committee behind The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film is supervising the original story for this game.

The game's story begins immediately after the ending of the film. The player assumes the role of the original light novels' Kyon as he finds himself at the Kita High School Festival again in a world where the SOS Brigade does not exist.

Scans here

Knowing Scamco-Bandai theres no way we will get a localization of this so all we can do is hope that the PSP gets fansubbed or ask NIS to do a text only localization on there forums...

Wishful thinking =(

ShadowJetX2680d ago

Scamco doesn't even acknowledge their existence.

I wonder, would you REALLY want a HARUHI game? Besides, it's pretty much a Visual Novel, wich is the first Strike (and probably the Out as well), since it's pretty much a "No localization."

I mean, I have nothing against Anime-based games (Note: I'm saying games based on different animes, not games with anime art style), but most of the time they're pretty much shovelware.

Yeah, I know I don't. I'd rather see JRPGs or some other interesting stuff than a Visual Novel (First off, while I like them, there's alot of text on them for a little fanbase in America...), an Otome game, or some other stuff among the lines of Vocaloid or K-On! games.

Also, I hate moeblob Anime, and while Haruhi doesn't really records as "moeblob", it's still...meh.

there is ALREADY a haruhi game on psp.
so try this one and then judge afterwards.
Besides there is little to do with the haruhi universe except visual novel style according to my knowledge up to book 10

zatrox2680d ago

Well, I don't know Japanese so I can't really try them out, as they are pretty much Visual Noverls (I think.)

But yes, Haruhi games can't be hack 'n' slash or something else like that, but my point was than I'd rather to see non-liscensed games than games based on Haruhi, K-On! or something like that.

MachinaMaw2680d ago

Sigh...another game not reaching the shores of NA. I would get this if it were a visual novel or not.

I hope this comes to the US

Reibooi2680d ago

It annoys me that these games don't ever make it to the US.

Most visual novels never get here. A few get here on PC but the best ones never do. Fate/Stay Night for example should have been released in the US LONG ago.

The sad thing is there is a audience for these games and it's more then likely big enough to earn profit(small one but profit still) with a company like Atlus or NIS in which they have really limited runs. But it seems that you can't even get a visual novel approved for release on console in the US.(No idea why)

zatrox2680d ago

There are a few rumours than both Sony and Microsoft do NOT allow Visual Novels on their consoles.

Sure, there is Disgaea Infinite as an example, but I believe that's an exception because it has some kind of "gameplay". In fact, I think the DS is the only console that somewhat has Visual Novels in it with regularity (Although most of them have puzzles or some clever gameplay mechanic in them.)

Eh, still, there's always fan translations for PC (Sure, they take some time, but something is something, right?)

"2D is not cool, it will make our console look outdated "

Stupid logic i know

"There are a few rumours than both Sony and Microsoft do NOT allow Visual Novels on their consoles."

Well that is not true, at least not in Japan. There are a lot of Visual novels on the Xbox 360 and there are some on the PS3. Here are some pure visual novels you can import from Japan for the Xbox 360, I think one of them is for the PS3.
11 Eyes: Cross Over
Andriasang: Fortune Arteial
Chaos;Head - Love Chu*Chu
Memories Off 6 Double Pack
Memories Off: Yubikiri no Kioku
No Fate! Only the Power of Will
Ore no Yome: Anata Dake no Hanayome
Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shōjo
Tayutama: Kiss on my Deity
Time Leap
Tomoyo After: It's Wonderful Life
White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide
World Love Organization

zatrox2680d ago

I meant Sony and Microsoft of America (And probably Europe).

Redempteur2680d ago

they were obviously talking about us/europe.
VNs are on every console in japan ( except wii )

Reibooi2679d ago

Fan translations are all well and good(hell it's the only way you can play Fate/Stay Night in English)

But they can't really do much for PS3 or 360 visual novels. Sure there are ways you could probably rig up a way to play it on PC or on the consoles with a translation but it's a pain and not exactly easy to do.

Would much rather have real releases. I don't see why they don't approve visual novels in the US and Europe. We are the consumer. Let US decide if you want to buy it or not.

TheCagyDies2679d ago

Oh, well that explains everything.

I'd pop it in my ps3 and try it out. Why the hell not. It might be enjoyable.
