PlayStation Move vs WiiMote [Site NSFW]

The “waggle test” – the motion sensing of the Wii is sufficiently crude that in some games little more than the illusion of control is offered, as exemplified by the finding that waggling the Wii’s controller randomly from side to side assures victory thanks to some rather generous assistance from the console itself… the Move controller is however a different story

These videos show WHY people like me dissed the wii as a gimmick and a waggle on waggle off joke of a device.

I did not say that motion control was a gimmick....WII and even WII+ is a gimmick....Move is the real deal....watch the videos and if you still cannot see what the difference is....then you are immune to reality.

When someone who has a wii or played one comes over...the 1st thing I tell them is that this is not the wii....you must remove yourself from years of wiitardation and play Move as you would if you were doing the real thing.

After a game or two....EVERYONE tells me that wow....they cannot believe the difference and how much BETTER Move is.

Move will sell more and more by word of mouth and when people try it. My friends and I are addicted to Bocce ball....we are so good now that the winner needs to put the Bocce under a foot of the pallino to win on a regular basis. That mini game itself shows how precise Move is...backspin, topspin, sidespin, bowl it, sky it, flip it....with practice you can put the Bocce anywhere you want.

The Move is a great product but its biggest problem is that it's just like the Wii. Comparissons like this mean little to the average consumer, most of whom don't even know the Move exists.

Kinect, like it or hate it, will sell because people will think its different. (And because MS is putting millions into advertising.)

When the dust settles the Move will be an also-ran. Merely because it was trying to be just like something else, instead of being its own thing.

SpinalRemains1382588d ago

you mean like the original Playstation? Sometimes the better version of a product does extremely well. Sometimes it fails. Playstation did very well and Beta Max failed.

I think the PS Move will resemble the PS3. It will start slowly (not as slow as PS3), but it will eventually pick up steam and do very well. With SONY products, eventually the quality is its selling point. That takes time though. May not be the best economical route to take, but it sure does benefit the consumer. The consumer gets a high quality product. I'd rather have high quality than a bullshit, shoody piece of junk with 20 commercials a day.

then slow is looking good for sony atm

"Kinect, like it or hate it, will sell because people will think its different"

Sure... like the [EYETOY] a 7 years old camera for the PlayStation 2...

Please... if kinect sells, it'll be thnaks to its fanbase, they already bought stuff that gather dust or is dumped like the HD-DVD drive and thanks to the LOADS of money in advertising...

HowarthsNJ2587d ago

It became a pro format (see your local TV NEWs in the 80's & 90's).

The Move will do okay as long as it's well supported.

While you may be right about casual gamers only, Move will also appeal to core gamers.

Kinect will be limited to casual games, and possibly core games that don't involve large environments (Boxing/Fighting, maybe Golf, etc.). Kinect requires CPU and memory resources from the console itself to do the full-body tracking that it does. You will NOT see a Kinect enabled Gears of War, etc...

While with Move, you still have to use CPU and memory on the console to do the movement tracking and sensor processing, but you have cores to spare on the PS3 (remember how everyone on here back in '06 and '07 was saying that the Cell is not needed for gaming... ;)). Capcom and Quantic Dream have already proven that you CAN do graphics intensive core games with Move controller compatibility.

Kinect will see mostly casual games, while Move will get a nice mixture of core and casual games.

It will all boil down to consumer choice when it comes down to it. I sincerely hope that Sony properly advertises the Move. I have been playing with it for a couple weeks now, and I'm thoroughly impressed. Also, every one of my buddies that I have shown Move to have been impressed at how intuitive it is and how accurate the motion tracking is.

Now I can't wait for Dead Space 2 and Killzone 3!! :-) Both will be packing Move support out of the box!

This is the only aspect to MOVE not selling to the Wii crowd that I can think of. It's the one area Sony must address and quick.
The casual gamers might very well see it as nothing more than a Wii remote and $400 to buy it bundled with the PS3. Quite more expensive than what they paid for the Wii.
The reality is MOVE is better than the Wii remote but casual gamers won't know this or care and say they won't spend $400 on a product that looks the same.
The target market Sony is mostly hoping for with MOVE is the Wii market as that's the only market-share left to take. MS is also going after it.
Casual and non gamers know very little about this market and to them, MOVE will look the same as the Wii Remote but cost more.
Sony needs to advertise it more to focus on this aspect that it is not.
If they don't, the better product is going to die.

Edit: As for the EYETOY...Sony never advertised it and that's why it died an early death.
Great products can die, if not advertised. Poor or average products can sell well if advertised better.
Marketing 101.

I only clicked on the site because the title said [Site NSFW] but there is nothing on the damn site! just a bunch of cartoon semi porn crap! dont know how that turns anyone on. weirdos.

anywho, Move FTW!, they really need to make some dlc or something so you can play some of these games online against other people. table tennis would be awesome, same as vollyball.

matey2588d ago

Move isnt 1on1 in TW11 i played it so no excuses people keep comparing move 1on1 games with wii games that were meant 4 waggle ect wiisports1 was meant to allow uses a flick of the wrist u cant compare these wii games with ones that require 2 move controllers for 1on1 fighting ect its not a comparison TW11 wii is 1on1 also the disc golf u cant flick ur wrist and get away with it in TW11 wii because it was meant for 1on1 same as Goldeneye/Black-ops/Conduit2 all have 1on1 IR controls name 3 ground up FPS games using move so not Killzone or Socom Move is tacked on to them already available games im talking ground up let me know none all sony will do is code basic controls in already available software not very unique is it.

Pennywise2588d ago

Liar. Move is 1:1. If you owned Move or even a PS3 you would know this. You don't even have the basic skills to compose a legible sentence. We are supposed to believe you have a clue about anything else?

L2Punctuate.

Mr_Bun2588d ago

I have no idea what are saying short of knocking Move. I can only assume that your entire post is being sarcastic as it only enforces that you must be ignorant to believe half of what you are saying

Wh15ky2588d ago

You're just embarrassing yourself now, matey!

A few points need to be set before we enter into this type of discussion.
-
1: The Wii is a console. The Wiimote integration was/is a prerequisite.
2: Kineck is being sold as a “Shared” launch system. The premise, as communicated through the executive leadership team and Marketing Campaign is that the user is the controller the distinction is that there is no control involved outside of 'you'.
3: Move is a supplementary device that may or may not be used for integrated games. However the integration associated with Mag, Heavy Rain, Tiger Woods golf in nothing short of amazing (as you have stated: SOCOM and KZ to follow next year).
-
The point is,… we need to be consistent across the board: And judge each Console/Launch system/Device On the merits outlined by Nintendo, MS and Sony respectfully.
Are the games enjoyable to me as a gamer?
Do they deliver as promised by said company (Nin/MS/Sony)?
***These are the questions that we need to ask and judge by.

But for kicks.. “The Shoot” works great as well :)
