Acer To Acquire Gateway For $710 Million

The press release announces that Taiwan based PC maker Acer will be acquiring the US based PC company Gateway. The all cash deal is expected to be worth $710 million and will closed by December. Gateway is the fourth biggest PC maker in the US; the purchase by Acer will create a company that will ship a total of 20 million PCs a year.

I'm mean thats why I got a HP instead of acer even though there prices were pretty low

it broke...constantly froze, was STAGGERINGLY slow, I couldn't believe something like it was permitted for sale to consumers. Hopefully they will improve with this deal.
