The latest LEVEL reviews include one of the first Fable III scores, Fallout: New Vegas, Vanquish, and more.
I'd say 8/10 is an OK score, not sure if i'll get it. But i would rate MOH 8.5/10 minimum.
I disagree. EA should stick to massive "Battlefields" (Hint) and stop trying to copy Activision.
Call of Duty a Medal of Honor rip off by the same studio that did Frontlines? Kind of ironic lol.
Well Battlefield doesn't sell nearly as well as COD. I would expect someone to try to chip away at COD and EA is in a place to do that.
8/10. ok score. but not great.. MS really needed high score on this one since they only have this and Gears coming out for entire 12 months.
What? No. Much of the team that worked on MoH:AA broke off from EA afterwards, formed IW, and went on to create CoD. And you can't "rip off" your own work...
These guys are tough scorers... or maybe just realistic scorers! It's gotten to the point where 80% isn't good anymore! That's an A in British system education!
@ImpartialMan can you tell me what sony have for next 12 month ? 2009 & 2010 titles that delayed to 2011 ? MS sell 360 very well and selling good means more games, dont worry. by the way the game looks great but 8/10 from unknown magazine ? i'm waiting for more reviews
Maybe you've not been around long, DavidMacDougall, but Medal of honor was doing it before Call of Duty.
HAHAHA "stop trying to copy Activision" .. Medal of Honor was released in 1999 and COD was released in 2003. You and the other 19 people that agreed with you are just 10 years old boys with no knowledge and/or pubic hair.
Your name is awesomejizz and you mention 10 year old boys and pubic hair?? Kids stay away from this guy! Intresting you got some agrees must be a bunch of creeps on this site.
Pretty meh in your opinion. When did 8 become just OK? All I know is how I absolutely loved Castlevania and if they gave it a 7 and Fable 3 an 8 then I'll definately give it another buy. PS, 6/10 MoH seems rather low, then again 7 for Castlevania isn't exactly on par either. Castlevania 9 imo MoH 8 Fable 3 10. . .lol just kidding on that one, I'll play it first
But for me, it's a solid 9. I'm loving every aspect of it. It almost reminds me of Demon's Souls in a weird way which is my favorite game this gen...period.
no games got above an 8. 8 is a great game still, But I would give castlevania a higher score. Ive never played a fable game but I might get fable 3 someday after I try out my free copy of fable 2 that I got from microsoft's error.
Couldn't agree with you more. I love Castlevania and would give it a 9.4 at least. I don't understand some of the reviews for that game. It is one of the best games I have played all generation, yet there were some reviewers giving it 7s. Simply mindboggling.
first review and people is already whining
u should get it later and have a buddy to play with you that makes the game more enjoyable.
I bought the first two Fable games but I haven't decided if I'm getting this one.
seems like 8 is the new 9
And 10 is the new 7
Well said! I try getting that point across and it always ends up long. So many 10s nowadays that now anything less than that is looked at like a failure. 7 is a good score. +bubbles
9 became the old 8 so WAY too many games were 9/10 when they were actually 8/10 same as 10/10 is actually 9/10...etc so 8/10 is great.
the first fable i thought was ok/good. the second one i was disappointed with so i'm not going to bother spending my money on part 3. i'm glad for you joy, but i'm not going to spend money on a series that hasn't really amazed me, and people can disagree all they want. just because it's on your system of choice doesn't mean i have to buy.
i couldn't pass up $40 bucks on amazon when i pre-ordered it
Not that i want to come of as a hater, but i couldnt see the point of the second fable. i dont know if i did something wrong but my character would never die and all you had to do was pretty much spam the repell spell. And the ending, Well at least in gears 2 you had to press RT to win. And the fucking dog basically stole all my glory, i wanted to kill that motherfucker!
dude the dog was pointless i hated the damn thing myself lol. yes there was no dying in the game i basically spammed a couple of moves myself. and the boss battle at the end had to be the worst boss fight i've ever played. hope your right joy, but Peter M has a way a bigging up his games and then not delivering on his words.
while i agree with the above points, i'm hoping that Fable 3 is better than the disappointing Fable 2. if not, surely i can re-sell it used soon after release and make $20 of that back. Fable 2 was worth that so as long as it's not worse i think i'm good.
Well I never played Fable 2, but are you guys saying that its worse than Fable 1? Because the first Fable was the biggest let down ever for me when it comes to games. And just like you said about Fable 2, the first one is super easy and the ending was just a so anticlimactic. EDIT: I would consider Fable to be the most overrated and overhyped franchise in the gaming world.
will wait for pc version of fable 3.
. . .a while
oh fable 3 8
is that website run by nintedo fanboys????
they're good people.
does anyone know if they planned anything for pc and are fable 1-2 on pc? thanks for help
It's supposed to come out for PC later, I know someone stated a day in which it's supposed to land, but quite frankly I have forgotten.
Fable 3 is coming to PC next year. Fable 1 is on PC, but strangely enough 2 isn't.
Mm not a bad score, still can't wait to try it for myself.
It's a good score an all, I'm not denying that. But I can't see Peter being too chuffed.
Since when is 8 a bad score? Fable 1 and 2 both got tons of 8's and 9's and I love the Fable series, so even if everyone gave this game an 8 I could care less. I personally can't wait for this game, regardless of the score. Plus look at Castlevania they gave it a 7 which is lower than Fable 3 score, and Castlevania scored tons of 9's. Also Fallout New Vegas, Medal of Honor, etc scored 1-2 average higher than what they actually gave it.
"Since when is 8 a bad score?" We'll remember that the next time a PS3 exclusive gets an 8...
What does PS3 exclusives have to do with anything? The only reason people give shit to people for PS3 exclusives when they don't score 9's and 10's is because fanboys hype every PS3 exclusive like it's a masterpiece and deserves nothing less than a 9. You see some people on this site, like me for example, say they are excited for this game, and can't wait for it. Not, this game is going to be perfect, GOTY 2010, AAA exclusive, etc. If fanboys kept their mouth shut, people wouldn't give them shit when a certain game doesn't get nothing but 9's and 10's.
because I'm not seeing it. What I am seeing is actually the complete opposite: "It's a good score." Three sentences in my comment box; that's not a lot to read now is it. Anyway, let's put things into context, because apparently some people aren't getting it. Fable III is a triple A, console exclusive made by a highly respected and prolific development company, and with that comes some lofty expectations/standards. 8 is a good score, but I'm sure that for an initial review (and the initial reviews are usually the highest scoring ones), Lionhead Studios were hoping for a bit better. That's all I'm getting at. The other games you listed are either not triple A titles or console exclusives, so listing them as examples is somewhat irrelevant.
Ever since Peter Moleneux said in a press conference that they would simplify Fable III because 60% of the content in Fable II, I had lost all hope. Fable II was simplified enough as it was, and now with 1-Button combat and one weapon that changes automatically, it seems really dumbed down to me. Not that I've played it or anything, just saying that I probably won't play it to begin with.
Civilization V got a 7? Isn't that game neary perfect?
I love Civ 5. I found that hard to believe
Lol I was shocked at that score more than fable.
I like the people talking smack about Vanquish being like Gears, to many young gamers with no idea of older games. Kind of shock Vanquish got a good score and you can even list to your own music on the PS3 one.
Yeah every new game release seems average to critics these days. It's always around 7 to 8. There's no mind blowing games, getting 9.5 or 10s.
8 is a good score, still some people will bitch that it didnt get a 10.
Maybe, but I'd think the most avid fans of the series, such as myself, wouldn't think of the first two as 10s (especially the second one). We shouldn't expect the 3rd one to be much different in terms of quality.
true, thats your opinion though. tbh i have never played a game thats been 10 imo. killzone 2 was a 9, uncharted 1 was an 8 (never played 2, but have seen friends play and woah, graphics are crazy, gow3 amazing id give 9.5, mass effect 2 9.7. anyway who gives a shit right? my opinion im a sony fanboy but i give credit when its due so (smiley face giving a rasberry)
They gave Fable III the same rating as Amnesia?!? I'm done listening to LEVEL.
Why, which of the two should get better or worse score? I plan to buy Amnesia. I'm more shocked by the Civ. 5 score. It's my personal GOTY - I've had no life since I bought it on steam a week ago. :-}
To aid those who can't figure out scoring: Out of 10... 1 - terrible 2 - less terrible 3 - not that terrible 4 - flawed and playable 5 - this is technically a medium. This would say a game is AVERAGE but most reviewers have no clue what from 1 to 10 means. 6 - slightly better than average 7 - solid game 8 - great game! 9 - excellent title 10 - as close to perfection as can be had At least that's what it should break down to. Problem is it never does because our industry is useless when it comes to consistent ratings.
Maybe that's how you would like games to be scored, but that's not what most reviewers actually do. Most of them hand out scores like 10 = A. Excellent 9 = A-/B+. Very good. 8 = B-/C+. A little above average. 7 = C-/D+. A little below average. 6 = D-/F+. Not good. Below 6 = total failure. There a few outliers there who don't score this way and who use more of the 10-point scale (like Edge, for example), and so you have to interpret scores from those sources a little differently. But most seem to assign scores more like an ABCDF scale than a true 1-10 scale.
You are absolutely correct! I just never understood why Reviewers and so called journalist go through the motions about "1 to 10" if they only use 6 to 10 and anything lower is complete trash - why not simply elminate that. I always preferred 1Up.com's method of Grades as you said - it does make more sense because its only A+ to F
I think the entire franchise as a whole is an 8.
Good score for Fable 3
I don't understand why Microsoft is even bothering with a crappy, delayed port for the PC version next year. The Witcher 2 comes out on PC by then, and it's gonna be much better than this.
Damn right.Fable 3 is a must for the 360 but for the PC with competition from Dragon Age 2 and The Withcer 2 it doesn't stand a chance.Anyway great score.I loved all the Siren series back in the ps2 era and they got 7s and 6s.
I played fable 2 for like 5 minutes, I couldn't stand the movement, it looked like your character was on ice
8 not that bad. I Don't trust all reviews out there cause how do they know what I Like. I suggest try out the game yourself.
of course they don't know what you like, the review is written from their perspective. The only thing you can really do is try to find out information about the game through the reviews and previews.
Fallout New Vegas: 8/10 Civilization V: 7/10 Fable III: 8/10 Vanquish: 8/10 Prof. Layton and the Lost Future: 8/10 NBA Jam: 5/10 Sonic 4: Ep 1: 7/10 Medal of Honor: 6/10 Quantum Theory: 3/10 Pro Evolution Soccer 2011: 7/10 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: 7/10 Amnesia: The Dark Descent: 8/10 F1 2010: 8/10 Final Fantasy XIV: 4/10 Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes: 6/10 EA Sports MMA: 7/10
well, Actually i think he's just a good overall reviewer, it seems his marks are right on the money in terms of not being overly high. An 8 is a great game, but now and days most games which deserve 8's are getting 9's, probably because of pressure from studios and publishers to get good reviews in hopes to sell more copies of games. I really hope reviewers start handing out more 7/8's as opposed to the 8/9's that many games have been receiving.
Idiots on n4g are so busy with their little fanboy war nobody noticed that CIV V got a 7, which has to be the lowest score I've seen so far.
Wow you're correct, a game that is hailed as the best Strategy game ever made and it walks away from these guys with a 7 - which by their terms means its terrible or weak... I'm not sure whether the site is reviewing games low to make a point or because they're far too jaded to play video games anymore - perhaps they should stop and breathe.
Sooo... why is this in the PS3 section...?
^because alot of those games are also on PS3. I can see what you mean with the title though.
Then I dusted off my 360 and popped in Fable II. An hour later, I logged on to Amazon and canceled my pre-order. What was I thinking? I'm sure it'll be an entertaining game, but no way in hell is it worth $60. Not even half that. Also: nothing to do with PS3.
I got a good 30-40 hours from fable 2, and with the revamped co-op for Fable 3 I'll probably end up getting a lot more.
