The Playstation Sixaxis controller can be used on a Windows-based PC (mainly on XP and Vista). You can play your PC games using the Sixaxis controller as a PC game pad controller to optimize your gaming experience.
yea done that...its one of the best pc controller lol
EDIT: lol ok :D damn maybe one of the best then hehe
The 360 controller "PWNS" the Sixaxis on the PC, lol
(Let the agrees and disagrees decide the winner)
Edit - Uh Oh,lmao. Now it's a three way race with KB/M looking strong in the beginning.
Edit#2 - An hour in and the fanboys found me, Now I am getting creamed with double digit disagrees. Damn, **Walks away in shame**
Who cares about console controllers? PC's Mouse and Keyboard is still the best especially in the genres of MMO, RTS, FPS, RPG, and Third person shooters. The only time any other control is necessary is for flight or driving sims or the occasional ported action title which don't really belong on PC.
I mostly play PS1 and older emulators on my PC, so I always use the sixaxis. I don't like the d-pad on the 360 controller and I wish I could use the Sixaxis to play Street Fighter HF so I can finally get those achievements. I'm always stuck using Blanka or Guile since the 360's d-pad gets slippery after a couple of matches if I play with Ken. I do like the 360's analog, but the Sixaxis's analog isn't so bad that I totally wouldn't use it for the PC at all. The d-pad is a totally different story, not to mention I wouldn't need rumble for those games
Do you guys see what this means? This news should be huge! Any PS3 gamer can play pretty much any game he wants. Even Xbox 360 games. Bioshock, Gears of War, Halo 3 (To be honest, just playing Halo 2 is no different.)...virtually any game worth playing on the 360. I only say that 'cause a decent PC is pretty much standard in most homes and I'd rather play PC games than 360 games. Better quality. This is the best. Screw even thinkin' of buying a 360. This rocks!!!
Or you could just get a 360 and play for around the price of a high-end graphics card. Unless you don't intend to play at full resolutions with all settings on high.
but this looks interesting if someone would release a driver allowing the full sixaxis functionality in other programs.
I usually connect my Six Axis to my PC to charge it, and Vista without any drivers recognized it as something like "SONY PLAYSTATION 3(R) Six Axis"
no thanks i'll use my keyboard and mouse not general sense of direction LOL.
"Will I be able to use the SIXAXIS controller wireless?
You may not use your SIXAXIS controller wireless. It could be possible if you have a PC desktop or laptop that has built-in Wi-Fi; however, there is no mod to do this. "
the sixaxis uses Bluetooth, not WI-FI... if they dont know that, i dont think they know much about this controler.
at least it better then using that cluncky (and crapy) 360 controler on the pc =)
What's with all these news sites spewing out a heap of age-old news lately...
i have ps2 look controller that work really good
this is really old, I'm been doing that for quite some time.
But the Wireless Xbox 360 controller is the best in the business, damn, I love that controller and it's fantastic "rumble".
i've been using my PS3 controller on my PC since i bought it back in *FEBRUARY.
i *USED to use a PC controller i bought, which was basically just a poor-man's Dual Shock controller, so when i got my PS3, i would use it's controller to play emulator games and PC games when i wasn't playing the PS3, as it's just much more comfortable than my crappy PC controller.
it's been a while since i've done it, but playing Super Mario Bros 3 with the PS3's digital pad is rather sweet. i also played F.E.A.R. on my PC with the PS3 controller.
the sad thing about that, is that it was, like, a *MILLION times better than playing the sh*tty PS3 port of the game. oh, sweet irony.
It works for me but it won't let me use the directional pad. I have to use the analog sticks. Any way i can fix this? I'm using it on a snes 9X emu.
*Edit- NVM, it just started working*
This is old news. I've been using it since I bought PS3.
Anyway, I'm also using it for my emulated Amiga games and to control camera in 3DSMax and Maya (with help of joytokey program for keypoard to joypad mapping). It's great, since I like to work from my bed or couch and I don't need to hold a keyboard in my lap!
I use my Xbox 360 controller to play PC games, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that the Xbox 360 controller is INFINITELY BETTER for playing PC games!!!
Who in the universe would even consider using the Playstation 3 controller on their PC!!! The PS3 controller does NOT have rumble, which means that it AUTOMATICALLY is NOT the controller you would want to use when playing shooter games or sports games, or any game with contact.
And the Xbox 360 controller has Trigger buttons that are SO MUCH BETTER in terms of realistic feel, analog sensitivity, and overall comfort!!!
Speaking of overall comfort, the Xbox 360 controller is BY FAR the BEST controller ever designed for thos First-Person Shooters, Third-Person Shooters, and even Real-Time Strategy games. Playing Command & Conquer 3 on the Xbox 360 is AWESOME!!!
Even Playstation magazines have said the Xbox 360 controller is the best controller ever designed.
The "sixaxis" function of the Playstation 3 has very poor precision. That is the whole reason Lair was rated with scores of only 5.5 out of 10 by EGM and only 5 out of 10 by PSM.
Sooooooo...I'm gonna have to stick with my Xbox 360 controller for PC games.
I'm looking forward to the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3, because the performance is SO MUCH BETTER than the PS3 version. The PS3 version of Unreal 3 only runs at 30 frames per second at 720p resolution, while the PC version will run at 60 frames per second at 1200p (yes Twelve-Hundred progressive).
