Super Smash Bros. Brawl using Havok physics

This popped up via EGM a few months ago. Everyone passed it off as a mistake or rumor. Well now it has been confirmed via Havok's site

Havok physics combined with original XBOX graphics should be quite incredible if you've never played an Xbox360 or PS3... FUGGIN SA-WEET!

Im sorry... I don't know why I just said that...

I guess I just find it funny whenever someone tries to make a Wii game sound like it will be impressive to look at.

I've never found the PS3 or 360 to be overly impressive themselves. They have better graphics than the Wii, but its nothing compared to waht Nintendo bridged when it's Gameboy threashed the Game Gear in the hand held market nearly 2 decades ago.

Brawl looks wonderful, like it or not. And if you want to talk about all Wii games, I missed the memo, so what exactly did it say about Mario Galaxy not looking like Mario should look?

If you want to be a graphics whore, be my guest, but you're the one missing out on great games. I'd rather have great games with good graphics than good games with great graphics, because, quite frankly, I can't stand the thought of playing another FPS where I am the scowling man shooting down the aliens, even if it is in HD and the aliens look real.

( If you don't know what Havok Physics Engine is Its used on
ES:Oblivion for Physics....so yes, this is a good thing...)

Why do so many insist (w/out providing supporting evidence) that 360 and PS3 hardware allow for physics calculations that the Wii simply cannot do? Sonic and the Secret Rings used PhysX and now it's been revealed that SSBB is using Havok, both of which are industry-leading and cutting-edge physics engines.

I would give you bubbles too, but after seeing you make great comments like this day after day, I already did. :P

But to answer the question, people say it because they actually believe the Wii is 2 gamecubes duct taped together with half the power of the gamecube, for some reason.

It's the same people who make the comments that the Wii is only able to make PS2 level graphics, when the gamecube was much more powerful than the PS2 (and very nearly as strong as the 360).

They are the people who look only at numbers to figure out how good a game or console is, and many of them learn from bluray or HD DVD how to manipulate those numbers into something to prove their point (I find that out talking on the bluray/HD DVD news).

Wonderful, point, though, but I have to wonder how many disagrees you'll get before you get an answer as to why some people think how they do about the physics on the Wii.

Psy Ops for PS2 used Havok physics. This isn't a big deal.
