Your enjoyment of the game will largely depend on how much you’re willing to forgive the issues. If you don’t mind working around them then this could be a game of the year contender, otherwise, you might just think it’s broken.
Shame it's so buggy.
"We’ve also had a couple of complete system freezes and an almost constant case of occasional and sporadic mini-freezes which only cause the game to stutter for a fraction of a second but are nevertheless extremely frustrating" Says it all they used the same engine as the previous games without patching. DAMN LAZY DEVS. Well guess what you can kiss my £40 goodbye! No way I am buying it now. I just cancelled my pre-order had this and Rorona pre-ordered from GAME.co.uk. The freezing and glitches is what ruined it for me on fallout 3. I will probably pickup the pc version off steam when its cheap as it will have mod support so at least something will outweigh the constant crashing and bugs.
yeah i agree with what you said. I will gamefly it instead of buying it now.
Be sure to dupe...
I got six hours so far on Fallout NV and it is running very well . I just crashed twice to the desktop so it is far from beeing as buggy as Fo3. It is better then what I was expecting. Very, very good addicting game.
I dunno man, you've only played it six hours and it has crashed twice? And a reviewer pans a GotY sequel specifically calling it out as buggy? NO THANKS. There's enough awesome stuff coming out this holiday season to make this a pass on it @ $60 and wait for a used copy title, right there.
There are so many other options for entertainment this season that actually work as they are supposed to. I will wait for a cheap copy of this game next year. I was really looking forward to it too. :(
It crashed twice in six hours and that's BETTER than what you were expecting? Dear God. What would the game have to have done to be worse than expected? Burst into flames and burn your house down?
I will pass on the PS3 version if they have not bothered to even try to stabilize the engine on the PS3 in the what? Two years since F3? It's pathetic that they released the GotY in such a crappy state, but it was CRIMINAL to not even make an effort to patch it. They obviously had enough resources to repackage and resell the product as a GotY, yet they couldn't bother to get it into a state where it wasn't essentially defective? Talk about sh*tty ethics. If this review is accurate with regard to this issue, to not improve the engine for the next product borders on outright fraud. Just think how buggy this title will be when they add DLC. I'm hoping this review was just an unstable version, but if not: F*CK YOU, Bethesda! You guys have no PS3 skills.
Blame Obsidian, not Bethesda. There the ones who were to lazy to try to fix anything and just built on top of a buggy game.
no i blame bethesda .it's not as if they told obsidian , "you have a choice , build a new game from the ground up , with a new engine , or hell our newly acquired and exclusive id tech 5 ". They kept them on the same crappy engine that hardly anyone would succeed at fixing
"Your enjoyment of the game will largely depend on how much you’re willing to forgive the issues. If you don’t mind working around them then this could be a game of the year contender, otherwise, you might just think it’s broken." this has to be the most funniest line I have ever read in a review before when speaking of a GOTY contender. ignore the problems and the game is a GOTY contender... lol
well given how many nominations something like mw2 received , that kind of stance aint even surprising anymore
I ignored the problems with the PS3 version of FO3 and it was definitely my Game of the Year in the end. I could see myself ignoring the supposed problems with New Vegas as well, but there are many other games out there to pay for instead. These guys just seem a bit too greedy for my tastes, what with the DLC announcement they made. I am sure it is an excellent game though.
this game should be reviewed low because of all the bugs/glitches....but many big sites are giving this title a pass because its mainstream status but are quick to rip on lower end games because of all these problems...
Same thing happened with Red Dead Redemption. Bugs and glitches galore, yet it has been praised as the greatest thing since sliced bread. As for myself, it was probably the biggest disappointment of the year. At any rate, I think that I will fully enjoy New Vegas more than Fallout 3... bugs and all. I'll be popping it in this afternoon and will find out soon enough.
Someone on gamefaqs has played 25 hours and has had no problems. I think their are bugs but you're not guaranteed to get them, same as Fallout 3. I had very little trouble with that game on 360 and PS3. Yet lots of people did. Most people who have no trouble, don't mention it. Where as those who do have problems go online to tell people. Which makes it look like the game is 100% buggy. I don't think it's as bad as some people think it is.
that's an exageration too ... buggy games are buggy . The silent people arent suddenly all experiencing a smooth ride with no bugs . They just dont make as big a deal (like calling the game unplayable on ps3) of it , and enjoy their game if its still good .
One they fix all the bugs, I'll buy it used.
