I really don't see the point of these HD remakes besides another way to make some money.

So if MS remakes Halo 1, it's trying to get every drop of milk! And Sony remaking GoW 1 and 2 is a god send!

I can understand your logic, seeing how you have never owned an Xbox console! I on the other hand have owned every console beginning with the Atari 2600. Only ones I havent were the Neo Geo, Atari Jaguar and a few of the handhelds. Currently own X360 and Ps3.

OSU_Gamer2587d ago

@DarnNikon

Aren't all PS3 fans hoping for a shadow of the collosus remake?

With that said, I don't see how remaking THE game that made the 360 relevant is a bad thing.

Lifendz2587d ago

Immediately after beating Reach I wished there was an HD remake of Halo CE. Hope this is true. I think they should offer some sort of trilogy pack with Halo 1-3 all updated and using the Reach engine.

logikil2587d ago

The only thing that this shows me is the still lacking First Party portfolio of MS. I am not going to knock HD remakes, because I will most likely buy this just like i bought the GoW remake pack, but what else is MS going to remake?

Blinx?
Azurik?
Kakuto Chojin?

Now here's a good idea, go back and remake Mech Assault, or hell even just bring out a new Mech Assault. Or perhaps a remake or new version of Crimson Skies? I like Halo as much as the next guy, but please MS move past this and give us something new besides Gears, Halo, Fable, and Forza.

Halo ce played great on the original xbox. SoTC should really have been a ps3 game in the same ico got moved fom a ps1 game to a ps2 game. If you play sotc you will really notice how the scope the developers tried to set was severly limited by the ps2 hardware, and thats why people want a ico collection, to se what the developers really intended the game to be.

Now sotch may be my favourite game of all time, but a friend om mines favourite is halo ce, so i think this remake is a great idea. It would be great if they added some of the scenarios taking place between halo 1 and 2 as some form of movies/extra missions because if you go by the books a lot of stuff most halo "fans" have no idea about took place in that timeframe.

Perjoss2587d ago

i think the original still looks great, was one of the first games to use bump mapping, characters look rubbish but the environment had that trick where if you got really close the walls and stuff seemed to have extra detail like scratches and dirt. I've seen this in other games (unreal engine 1) but i cant remember what its called.

lastdual2587d ago

I'd be all for it, the same way I'm all for the Team ICO collection. CE with the Reach engine would be fantastic.

However, it would be best if it was $40 and just single player (or included a map collection disk like ODST did). Reach will have online legs for years to come, and there's no need to split the user base with a whole new MP.

secksi-killer2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

i was expecting this as a launch title for the next xbox.

343 industries first halo game to be a new engine remake of the first halo.

Hideo_Kojima2587d ago

Awesome game I still play it online on PC.
Its HD but it would be more fun to play it on Xbox Live I guess.
On the PC we have to chat threw text only and there are no leveling up systems or ways of joining the same room apart from typing in the IP of a match which makes it hard to find friends.

However the community is amazing best I have seen even better than L4D everyone is up for a joke... you know what am going to go play it now.

Spydiggity2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

i hope this doesn't divide up the Reach community. i guess since they are using the same engine, it could be like ODST where it worked with Halo 3 for the multiplayer.

Hope this means we get all the original Halo maps like Hang em High, Battle Creek, Rat Race, Prisoner, and SIDEWINDER!!!

They're nice if you missed the game first time round, but other than that, only good if your a fan of gamerscore/trophy BS.

T9X692587d ago

I think it depends on the game. If SOCOM 2 had a remake, I could give two shits about the trophies if they had a new network code for it to stop all the cheaters. I would pay over $100 for a SOCOM 2 remake with new servers.

Shadow Flare2587d ago

Well, you say that but if they released a hd version of the original FF7 with trophy support, I don't think I'd play another game for a full year. And I'm getting the team ICO collection. I'm not a trophy whore at all, but it adds something new when you have trophies and I'd love to play SOTC again in hd with trophies to aim for

PS360fanboy2587d ago

Now this is what I call milking!

But Halo 1+2 in HD, à la PS3, would be cool for about 40bucks, no?

siyrobbo2587d ago

halo 1 and 2 are in hd, as they are on the PC

TreMillz2587d ago

5 Halos in 360s 6 years on the market wow.....

Nac2587d ago

Would that not be five God of War games in three years?

TreMillz2587d ago

Because im sure Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta are available for the PS3 right? Im sure you dont have to go out and buy a different device if you only own a PS3....

jony_dols2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

5 GOWS? The God of war collection was pretty much a platinum edition (it wasn't remade with the GOW3 engine was it?) Ala greatest hits editions on Xbox 360.

The GOW on the PSP don't count either because they were made by Ready at Dawn, not Sony Santa Monica, and on top of that most people dismiss handheld games as fodder anyway, would you consider Call of Duty World at War Nazi Zombies on Iphone the direct successor to Modern Warfare instead of MW2?

Anyway I hope MS do remake Halo 1 & 2 with the Halo Reach engine, because that'd be awesome.

Nac2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

So your gonna use the "portable" card? They are still games. And yes, I know the PSP games were developed by Ready at Dawn, to be fair, Halo Wars was developed by Ensemble Studios, and people want to still group that in with the Halo "Milk". Hell, if I recall that game is in a whole different genre than the rest of them, unlike say the RaD GOW games, which play exactly like the other games. There are valid arguments, then there is flamebait from Fanboys, I hope people can tell the difference.

From a business standpoint it makes perfect sense. The sales of HD remakes must be pretty good - meaning many people want it so why not make them.

I think they're great because many of these I never played and the originals look like ass on a 55' big screen TV. The HD coat of paint and added achievements/trophies are a great bonus.

I do not understand how having more game choices is ever a bad thing.

KillerPwned2587d ago

Hey HD remakes work the consumer wants it. I like them its more then just updated graphics. I would not doubt this at all but till MS announces it. This is strictly rumor for me a ton of people would spread false rumors about this game getting a HD remake.

fossilfern2587d ago

Perhaps they are to make money but Halo CE is the best in the series IMO and I wouldn't mind seeing a "next gen" remake of the game

hennessey862587d ago

halo ce is already avalible on games on demand so i dont see the point of having another version with shinier graphics. Im more than happy with the original.

otherZinc2587d ago

Achievements come with it!
Other than that, I'll pass as I have a copy of my own & 1 for my son.

iPad2587d ago

The should also add online.

TROLL EATER2587d ago

hope this rumour is true!!!

Imperator2587d ago

Knowing MS they'll probably bring out Halo 1 and 2 separately for 60 bucks each. Unlike Sony which is releasing packs of games for only 40 bucks. MS will milk it as much as possible.

EeJLP-2587d ago

Play one of your favorite games at 640x480 or play them at 1280x720 or 1920x1080..

I don't get where you don't see the point.

Most of these games getting remastered were originally designed for 640x480 displays AT BEST.

NES for example (think the Bionic Commando remake) had a resolution of only 256x240. Mario was only 16x16 pixels I believe.

So if you're somebody that would still go back to play mario or bionic commando every once in a blue moon.. would you rather go back and play it at 256x240 or whatever resolution the remake (Rearmed) is [720p+]?

I think the answer should be pretty obvious and that's why people are willing to buy a better quality version of something they already have or had and liked in the past.

It's like your favorite song. The version you have.. do you want it to have been recorded off AM radio? Or would you rather have the CD or Super Audio CD version of it?

BillOreilly2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

this is why gears was pushed back. HALO
where is my kotor 1-2 HD???????

frostypants2586d ago

Because it's awesome, perhaps? Just like the God of War Collection was awesome.

They should put both Halo and Halo 2 into a single HD-remastered pack. How would that NOT be cool?

I'm not even the biggest Halo fan in the world...Reach is the only one I really enjoy, but come on, props where props are due...

hell yeah ive been waiting for news on a halo remake, if it uses the reach engine ill be blown away, but even if theres a hd remake with achievements then ill be happy.

NickX2587d ago

If this happens I will cut off my head, Mikami style.

Blaster_Master2587d ago

I would freakin buy another 360 if they made a morrowind and conker hd remake.

STK0262587d ago

I just wish they would at least put Conker Live and reloaded on the game son demand service, a HD remake would just be icing on the cake. Same with Phantom dust, Panzer Dragoon Orta (though I still have it) and Deathrow.
