Empire: Castlevania: Lord of Shadows Review

Scratch everything you know about previous instalments in the long-running Castlevania series. Konami’s spectacularly dapper reboot of the beloved series has been given an eye-watering 21st century sheen and in place remains a game that has more in common with the likes of gaming titans, God Of War and ICO, than any other ‘Vania’s in the fiendish series canon. Spanish developer Mercury Steam has delivered something that begs to be ogled, explored and mastered, much like October’s other belter, Ninja Theory’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

great game, possibly one of the best i've played all year. i love the dense fantasy atmosphere.

Did anyone else run into a lot of glitches? I got stuck in rocks and walls at least 9 or 10 times. Great game otherwise. Character models are some of the best looking I've seen. Texture mapping was awesome as well. The attention to facial/neck hair especially, reminded me of Uncharted 2
