PAX 2007: Hands-On with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

With the exception of Beautiful Katamari, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the one game at PAX that Gamers Today found the easiest to just pick up and play. No checking the Options menu for button layouts, no taking a few minutes just to learn the controls; it took me 30 seconds to figure out how to play the game. The game's controls are just that easy to use. And what a sweet game to control at that.

another AAA title for the ps3 this year can't wait

TheMART6081d ago

Another?

You mean the first? There are no other AAA titles yet

Ri0tSquad6081d ago

game to come out looks great.

WilliamRLBaker6081d ago

wrong mart, there are 4 for the ps3 that gamespot has scored over 9.0.
and ign too.

TheMART6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

Can you name those 4 with an extensive list of reviews that gives an average of 90% or higher?

Resistance has something like 88%, Motorstorm like 84% or so. Games like Heavenly Sword, Lair and Warhawk are reviewed by trusted sites like IGN, EGM and Edge and are reviewed from 6 to 7 or so.

Which other games are there that are extensively reviewed and have an average of over 90%?

EDIT

Again dude, really can you name them, your post under me still doesn't mention those four games...

Ah Only Oblivion... Nice. One game that's also AAA on the 360.

No exclusives on the PS3 that are AAA and the only one that is AAA is Oblivion.

So let me restate the thing then:

No AAA exclusive on the PS3. I was pretty darn close with my comment though you've got to admit

EDIT #2

Dude, AAA can only be given by average of all reviews. You give different sites. I bet the only one is Oblivion having an average review of all reviews together of over 90%.

BTW I see I indeed didn't mention it the first time that's why my comment was pretty darn close. But even with one real AAA like Oblivion... It's not much. In exclusive AAA's 'another' is certainly not right.

AAA on 360 are mostly exclusive, or at least console exclusive. Either way Vista/360 is MS exclusive.

WilliamRLBaker6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

like you care about gamerankings when it comes to 360 games.

Face it ign gave 4 ps3 games over 9.0, so did gamespot thats 2 reviewing sites that have ps3 at 4 AAA games.
What other sites gave means nothing since gamespot and ign are my only trusted sources:)

P.S: gamerankings says only oblivion is AAA....so your still wrong, you said ps3 had no AAA games when it has 1 via game rankings.

Gamespot:oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, Ninja Gaiden Sigma...Ok i was wrong it was only 3.

IGN:Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Oblivion, Resistance, Motorstorm [uk]

P.S: you never said exclusive, maybe next time you should.
Because exclusive means nothing, if exclusive means any thing then the top rated 360 games need not be so top since a few have come out on other systems. *edit forgot to say a few, and instead said all*

power of Green 6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

I agreed with both of you.

* Mart said PS3 has no AAA's: Agreed! but PS3 does but they're multi platform.

* William said PS3 has AAA's like Oblivion: Agreed! but they're just Multi platform games. No exclusive games screaming buy a PS3(the only thing that bothers me about this game are the graphics).

xaphanze6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

TheMart can you plz remind me of of the AAA titles that came out for the 360 on its first year on the shelves?
thank you

WilliamRLBaker6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

WRong, AAA status does not have to be given by an average of score. Because not all sites are reliable.

4 of the 360' AAA games at game spot are not exclusive regardless of it being on vista.

here is the list from gamerankings.com
http://gamerankings.com/ite...

THE 360 AAA Games
1. BioShock X360 2K Games 36 9.0 96.1%
2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion X360 2K Games 103 9.2 94.1%
3. Gears of War X360 Microsoft Game Studios 107 8.7 93.8%
4. Guitar Hero II X360 RedOctane 53 8.1 92.2%
5. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter X360 Ubisoft 89 8.7 90.7%
6. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night X360 Konami 21 8.3 90.1%
7. Undertow X360 Chair Entertainment 1 -- 90.0%
8. Call of Duty 2 X360 Activision 87 8.8 90.0%

6 of those are multiplatform, 2 are XBLA....so yeah...If exclusiveness is all that matters, Then ps3 has no AAAs but 360 only has 3, undertow being an XBLA....so there ya go.

After 7-8 months by your logic ps3 has no AAA games, after all most 2 years now 360 has only 3....

P.S:vista doesn't=360 so it being on 360 and vista means its not exclusive.

b777conehead6081d ago

hey mart your wrong there is many aaa games for the ps3 your just x box 360 blind so if the same exclusive games that you say arent aaa games for the ps 3 were 360 exclusives you would call them aaa games your so biased to microsoft if they put out stick finger games you would say there aaa.

it says PAX 2007...but at the top of the video....it says e3 2007 trailer... so timmyp you had no need to add that video its nothing to do with the article. and is a completely different event.

The Inconsistent Harmony: 5 Examples of Ludonarrative Dissonance in Video Games

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I finally have a proper designation akin to what I've always referred to internally as 'the line that must be crossed' or 'The Line', for short – ludonarrative dissonance – the separation from a video game's story in relation to its gameplay. Why isn't PETA all up in Mario's grill for jumping on turtles and killing fish, or charging Samus Aran with the extinction of the Metroid species? Ever notice how fire has that habit of making bosses in Resident Evil stronger? Read on my friend, for I endeavor to imbue you with the ability to engage in basic queries concerning the concept."

UC 2, 4, 3 and 1. Great read and article

ABizzel1997d ago

No Golden Abyss -_-, otherwise I agree with the order.

UC2: Best overall
UC4: Best graphics, best gameplay, best locations, best environements
UC3: Best set pieces IMO (the boat and desert fights will always be amazing)
UC1: A rough Draft of what was to come
UCGA: Basically UC1 on Vita

Levii_92998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

Great list and great article nicely writen and explained. Although for me personaly i would put Drakes Fortune above Drake’s Deception and Uncharted 4 is absolutely my favourite of the franchise and number 1 for me.

Inverno998d ago

U2 is the only game playable on crushing without causing a great amount of frustration. Not to mention just how much influence it had that they redid some of U2s set pieces like the caravan twice, and armored truck chase in U4.

DFresh998d ago (Edited 998d ago )

I'd rate it as the following.

1.) Uncharted 2
(Close to perfection of any game I've played in years. Single Player/Multiplayer/Co Op all amazing.)

2.) Uncharted 3
(On par with UC2 multiplayer/co op wise minus the kickbacks [aka killstreaks]. I really liked the Lawrence of Arabia story.)

3.) Uncharted 4
(Single player is amazing. Multiplayer was meh. Co Op had potential. Absolutely hated the health revive system it slowed down the game way too much. Always preferred the fast pace action of UC2/UC3. Made it way more fun that way. Recoil was too ridiculous that most people in lobbies would only do hip firing, using power weapons and using that OP grappling hook to melee people after dropping them. Nobody wanted to revive anyone.)

4.) Uncharted
(It's the first in the series so it's hard to judge. Though I loved the story.)

NecrumOddBoy998d ago

I agree here but it’s also a series you can play from front to back and truly enjoy. Story-wise, they are all great and flow so well. I wish they threw both Golden Abyss and Lost Legacy on this list. Lost Legacy is the best mechanically in my opinion. You can see it’s stepping stone framework for TLOUS2.

Michiel1989998d ago

uncharted 2 is one of the few games that actually surpassed its pre-release hype.

medman997d ago (Edited 997d ago )

I am a single player gamer...I barely ever touch a multiplayer component. The only exceptions over the years have been the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, TLOU factions, and the Uncharted 2 multiplayer. The Uncharted 2 multiplayer saw me spend more time playing it than all my other multiplayer experiences over the years combined. That game really was a masterpiece all around.

brando008997d ago

I agree completely, those are all stellar MP experiences, coming from another SP gamer who only occasionally gives MP some time.

Gardenia998d ago

Come to think of it, the step between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 is huge. It goes from the weakest in the series to one of the best games ever made.
I think I'm going to play all of them again soon.

Ninver998d ago

Yeah all of a sudden I've got that Uncharted itch.

Michiel1989998d ago

is multiplayer still up for the remastered trilogy? or did it never have UC2 mp?
