GamerZines writes: Most movie based game tie-ins create a fair amount of apathy in the gaming community, but Propaganda Games' Darren Hedges has revealed that the primary focus during the development of TRON: Evolution was to buck that trend.
I really hope so, I love Tron and will be buying the game just for the extra story line and gap filler between the movies. Move implementation sounds interesting but I'm struggling to picture exactly how it would work, anybody have any video links or anything?
I cant believe Disney decided to cancel Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned instead of this. As awesome as Tron: Legacy looks, and as much as I respect the developers, Armada of the Damned wouldve been a much better game, considering it not directly tied into a film, and that its the only current-gen Pirate themed RPG game. Now we probably have to wait another 5-10 years for a good Pirate based game...
guess you missed this 'gem'... http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/... Why does it have to be one or the other? I don't know the reason that the new Pirates game got cancelled but I'm sure it had nothing to do with Tron: Evolution.
armada of the damned ran at like 10 fps, how they supposed to fix that
Like we've never heard that before........(thinks back to Avatar,King Kong,Batman Begins......)
Yeah many have said it and not one was able to do it. It's kinda something they have to say really. They are not gonna say something like "Well it is a movie tie in game and so it was rushed and will be a piece of crap" They are gonna try to praise it. Personally I don't think the game looks all that great. The game looks pretty enough and captures the look of the new movie well enough but game play wise it just looks bland and even a bit wonky and buggy(from the video's I have seen at least) Granted it's still not done but still I would expect it to look better if they really claim it was gonna beat the bad movie game stigma.
It's bound to happen sooner or later. One glorious day a direct movie-based game and/or a videogame-based movie will be great.
don't forget to add x-men origins wolverine, they put out a whole developer doc about it
Considering Tron 2 was just plain Win, i expect this to follow suit!
Sigh, that's what they said about Avatar the game.
...it's hard for a movie-based game to be good, when the movie itself is an overblown sfx-fest, with a cut/paste storyline and cut/paste characters.
Well lets sure hope so. If not maybe a step in the right direction. If any game movie coming out in the future i want Bioshock and Gears to be done right
...if anything, it's going to be compared as a "me too" product. White-washing the Prince of Persia with a coat of Tron does not make a game good...it makes it uninspired and flat. Based on what I've played over the last 6 months, it's enjoyable, but certainly not a genre defining entry.
Im Sorry but my stigma around these types of games was broken the same day my girlfriend got me Toy Story 3 on PS3 for my birthday. I had so much fun with that game it is just brilliant and got average 8/10 reviews. If the get the same developers as that they would be sorted!
Then again most, if not all, Toy Story games are usually of a high quality. TS3 was a blast, my son and I still boot up the Toy Box to mess around.
actually has the best track record when it comes to movie-tie-ins... They almost never made a stinker back on the genesis. Plus theres always games like Goldeneye, Escape from Butcher Bay, etc. If they put time into it, it should be ok. if they're stuck under a strict schedule that synch's up with the movie's development time, it'll probably suck.
Wasn't the last "Tron" movie released about 30 years ago? It doesn't count as a movie game if the movie is 30 years old.
@Darrius There's a new Tron movie coming out soon the only reason I'm interested in the movie is because Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack
