DS - 261,682 (-7%) 360 - 163,774 (-7%) PS3 - 158,220 (-8%) Wii - 130,689 (+1%) PSP - 85,699 (-7%) PS2 - 26,282 (-4%)
360 and PS3 still outselling WII worldwide, I hope it will die at some point, in the future
@Raikiri- Agreed. Looks like pretty much everyone who wanted a Wii already has one. "Who Cares It's VGCHARTS You can't take this site seriously. This site is far from official." I like how the people who say VgChartz can't be taken seriously CONTINUE to enter threads about VgChartz just to say how unrealiable it is. If VgChartz is so unrealiable...why waste your time even commenting here? "Because for the welfare of the site, we must stand up and try to eliminate FAKE and deceptive numbers." And I assume you have proof that these numbers are fake right? I've been hearing about the unrealiability of VgChartz for about a year on this site and no one has been able to prove it. Also, I find it hilarious that VgChartz numbers are called into question..yet NPD numbers aren't. Darkcharizard, the point I'm trying to make is..why so serious? These numbers and NPD numbers are 'estimates". There not 100% accurate. Unless you have stock in Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft..why in the world would you care if these numbers are off by a little?
Because for the welfare of the site, we must stand up and try to eliminate FAKE and deceptive numbers. Just because precious NPD numbers have gone, doesn't mean we have to start believing the fake stuff from VGChartz. @Wii-related-hate: Save it guys, Wii is beating PS3 in worldwide sales and don't worry, you'll eat your words when Wii beats PS3 in October and November thanks to Kirby, DKC, Sonic Colors, Epic Mickey and GoldenEye. Not to mention the Super Mario 25th Anniversary Bundle. EDIT: PROOF - (a) Super Mario Galaxy 2 had sold 4.09 million as per official numbers. VGC reported as 3 million. [I was following the numbers that time] (b) It shows PS2 totals as 136 million, when we all know it sold well around 140 million. Also, they are not 100% accurate? I'd say thats reason enough to call them fake.
I don't think there is any evidence that those upcoming Wii games are going to boost hardware sales for October and November. In fact, a new PS3 model is being released in Japan next week (320GB HDD, new chipset etc) so if anything PS3 is likely to see another boost. On the topic of software sales, Ninja Theory seem to have shutup all of a sudden...
You need to learn what "proof" is. Definition: http://www.merriam-webster.... Your "proof" is not proof. It is a writing that you have typed out on this site. You link no creditable source to where you got your numbers from. Your "proof" is absolute failure to prove anything. "PROOF - (a) Super Mario Galaxy 2 had sold 4.09 million as per official numbers. VGC reported as 3 million. [I was following the numbers that time]" LOL pathetic.
Not a big achievement considering the Wii has already sold 70+ million consoles.
yeAAH and this means war is over, winner = WII
Looks like the 360 effect finally died down.
This is a bunch of guess work and has no base on real world figures right?... right?
LoL, obviously, however, you do know VGchartz is known to bump up 360 numbers and lower PS3 numbers. So logically, that would lead to the assumption that the 360 effect has indeed died down.
This holiday season will be murder for Sony.
it already died for M$
The biggest support for the 360 has been in the US. And then somewhat outselling the PS3 in it's strongest territory, Europe. -End statement
PS3 outsold 360 in EMEAA this week. And after adjustments it did it 2 weeks ago as well. It even outsold DS that week.
Uhm...no it didn't http://n4g.com/news/626549/...
I said after adjustments. The numbers are subject to change as more data comes in. http://www.vgchartz.com/wee... http://www.vgchartz.com/wee...
That is not an adjustment Postal buddy, that is the differents in sales for each system over the previous week. PS3 did not out sell 360 in EU. May be next week. 360 has fallen off a bit.
You can't take this site seriously. This site is far from official.
NPD commented about VGChartz saying their sample size for the US was about 2-3% compared to 60-65%, and it shows. VGChartz numbers, when compared to NPD data is often as much as 30% off, and even VGChartz themselves runs a disclaimers saying "Don't take our weekly data seriously." As far as official numbers, they've always reported that the 360 sells more consoles than Microsoft says they've shipped, and PS3 numbers aren't even close. At least N4G has finally started labeling these numbers correctly - as rumor. Official data from each company comes out around the 28th covering the quarter. Those are the only numbers that anyone should pay attention to.
'VGChartz numbers, when compared to NPD data is often as much as 30% off' -------------- 30%? Thats a random number to claim? Do you sit at home calculating the differences? Anyway, as you say, NPD uses estimates just like VgChartz although I agree they are more accurate - they have to be with the sample size. 'even VGChartz themselves runs a disclaimers saying "Don't take our weekly data seriously.' ---------------- No they don't, they say their numbers our estimates and not 100% correct. Which is true. NPD do the same. 'As far as official numbers, they've always reported that the 360 sells more consoles than Microsoft says they've shipped, and PS3 numbers aren't even close.' ---------------- Not once has VgChartz reported that MS have sold more consoles than MS say they have shipped. The only time they made that mistake was when they overtracked the Wii during Christmas 2008. I agree that the PS3 is probably undertracked but with their adjustments its not far off now. Sony shipped 38.2 million at the end of the June. I expect them to report that they have shipped between 40 and 41.5 million by the end of September, so VgChartz figuers for the end of there should be over 39 million. As it stands at the mo tho they have it at 38.7 million, so yes the ps3 imo is undertracked. 'At least N4G has finally started labeling these numbers correctly - as rumor.' ----------------- Agreed but then again by the same token, NPD numbers should be labelled as rumor too. 'Official data from each company comes out around the 28th covering the quarter. Those are the only numbers that anyone should pay attention to.' -------------------- Finally! Agreed. These are the only numbers that are 100% accurate. Double finally, when did this gen become solely about sales? Jesus.
Mint NPD gets paid by the 3 video game publishers to track the sales of their consoles, so no NPD does not predict numbers, they get retail sales data of units sold, vgc however make predictions and uses very little hard numbers. And it shows, vgc just adjusted the PS3 up 400k in America and 300k in EMMA, that means vgc have been off on ps3 by 700k world wide. That is a crazy error on the part of vgc. These adjustment just put the ps3 and 360 gap back to where it was before the 360 slim got released, the truth is the ps3 have kept up with 360 dispite halo reach and the slim.
'Mint NPD gets paid by the 3 video game publishers to track the sales of their consoles, so no NPD does not predict numbers, they get retail sales data of units sold, vgc however make predictions and uses very little hard numbers.' ------------------- NPD does predict numberes because they do not get data from 100% of the market. Therefore they must estimate the numbers that they don't recieve on top of the numbers that they do get. That is the SAME as vgchartz but it is more accurate because they get data from more of the market. 'And it shows, vgc just adjusted the PS3 up 400k in America and 300k in EMMA, that means vgc have been off on ps3 by 700k world wide. That is a crazy error on the part of vgc.' --------------------- Agreed, you could see the ps3 was undertracked, although it hasn't been adjusted up that much in the EMMEA (although it probably should be). Sony will release their shipments soon anyway.
Ok, so they predict the data they are missing, they just have to predict less than vgc because they (NPD) gets more official data than vgc. So why then use vgc if NPD gives more accurate numbers, wouldn't NPD accuracy and vgc inaccuracy make vgc irrelevant?
So why then use vgc if NPD gives more accurate numbers, wouldn't NPD accuracy and vgc inaccuracy make vgc irrelevant? ---------------------------- For a few reasons. Firstly NPD doesn't actually give out numbers to us anymore and even when they did they were purely for America. VGC estimate worldwide sales. NPD accuracy doesn't have to make the free VGC service irrelevent - VGC can adjust their numbers if they need and they provide weekly estimates unlike NPD.
Hmm nice numbers ... Dam ps2 is still selling lol .. Seriously take my hat off to that
I love it how now all VGChartz articles will be stated as rumor =) great sales all around, strange how Reach only pushed 5K more for the 360 O.o i'd expect a huge leap! oh well, both are going strong =) seriously the DS is just silly...might as well scrap food and start selling them to african refugee's -_-
*puts fingers in ears* I am not listening VGC! La! La! La! La! La!
Are kicking Wii ass and will continue to do so till the end of this gen. Why ? because Move is better than Wii and Kinect is something new to people. Go Ps360
Sorry I had to disagree becuz 360 and PS3 are not twins lol. 1 have bluray and the other don't. I am happy they both above the Wii though.
what's interesting is that it now looks like multiplats are selling better on ps3 and buy quite a considerable margin with pes. Even F1 2010 sold a fair few more on ps3 which i find surprising, although it could be more racing fans have bought ps3's recently in the wait for GT5
its because they have had nothing exclusive to play since god of war
If those numbers are somewhat correct, the biggest surprise is, IMO, that PS3 SW is on top, with FIFA11/PS3 the most sold title, overall PS3 SW sales leading 400k over the 360 - and that incl. Halo Reach (even though in it's 4th week). Makes you think what install base is worth - or how many machines are actually used.
Week Americas Japan EMEAA Worldwide Running Total 1 97,102 N/A 1,281,111 Those europeans sure love their soccer
This is getting burring 360 is always best seller....
Reach almost 6 millions in one month!
PS3 selling 400k more software than 360 although the hardware sales are close.
npd-3 millions in 1 month in us vgc- 4.2 millions in 1 month in us
were 3.3 millions and it was in 3 weeks npd.
