So two different guys (separately from GameSpot and Destructoid) went to two different expos (GC and PAX) at the same time and saw two preview demos of the same game. One reported the dialogue lacked life, the other reported the dialogue was polished and flowing smoothly.

Did they preview two completely different games or what?

Ignore7.2 - yeah that's surprising
Every other preview I've seen all of them who had time with the game they all had great things to say, but then you never know, alot of early previews for sony games had great things to say too yet they didnt deliver, but then again I've actually seen short gameplay vids and also downloaded the trailer on my 360 and the gameplay looked nice too, still with games you just never know for sure how they will turn out until you can actually get an impression from a few creditable sites that actually reviewed the final copy=

I just don't believe Bioware will not deliver a [email protected] game, its in their gene's, they always make awesome games. yeah and you're right round peg everybody talked shiii about Halo3 beta and now look at all the sites eating their words=

thats the frame-rate they're talking about, hopefully the whole game turns out solid

until you actually get to play the game (or hear or read it from someone who *has* actually played the game.)

You won't know how the gameplay is until you have actually played a demo or the game yourself, or until you read or hear it from someone who has actually played the game himself.

You won't know how the story is until you actually play the the story, or until you read or hear it from someone who knows what the story is. As of now, Mass Effect's story is still a mystery to the public; no one outside Bioware knows what the story is really about. Do you know what the story is?

Wasn't the story about Aliens attacking Earth, and how Shephard is a half-specter and possesses superhuman capabilities?

I remember hearing something about the story and telling myself it sounded alot like Advent Rising (Which, by the way, had an excellent story by all regards...)

Also, The Round Peg, I never see you use that gameplay argument in Heavenly Sword news threads. Play the game before dissing the games gameplay, it can be repetitive, but if you love it, it doesn't feel so. Unless of course, you've played the demo, in which case, I apologize. sorry.

Do you know the difference between: (a) previewing an incomplete version of a game that's being demonstrated by someone else for 10 to 20 minutes, and (b) reviewing a game after having played it oneself for hours?

Lair and Heavenly Sword received the bad/mixed reviews from the reviewers who have actually played the final version of the games for hours. It's not like they stood and watched someone else played a demos for 15 of 20 minutes.

I trust the consensus of many reliable, professional reviewers who have actually played the final version game, not a blogger who saw a preview of an incomplete version of a game when someone else was playing it.

Do you see the difference? Preview vs. Review?

Gamespot gave a much more detail reason for what they said and it wasn't just graphics they also talk about the combat system, actually almost the whole update on Gamespot is about the combat system which is why the original headline says "GC '07: Mass Effect Combat Update" and here is the full quote at the end:

"Mass Effect is looking great at this point, with both combat and dialogue sequences exhibiting a lot of polish and flowing smoothly"

well unlike sony kids I'm not saying the other opinion is wrong but its very different from all the ones I have read before=

Bioware would have been the perfect developer for Fallout 3. Bioware and Black Isle even worked together back when Interplay was still in business, but Bioware games were always ,ore stable than Black Isle's.

Bethesda's Fallout licensing is only temporary and set to expire in another 3-4 years. If Microsoft has any brain, they would pay big money to grab the Fallout license permanently and let Bioware develop it as Microsoft exclusives.
