With NBA Elite 11 having been delayed, and NBA 2K11 such a success, will EA Sports be able to compete in the coming years?
Live could never compete with 2K even when it was exclusive to dreamcast
Truth.. I loved those Dreamcast sports games..that was probably one of the best piick up and play basketball games ever.. Sheds a tear for EA's monopoly on Football though NFL 2K11 probably would have been amazing as well.. But the truth is with the focus on the NBA we got Jordan this year.. I'm with the article..go back to calling it LIVE again..I still always loved the NBA LIVE All Star weekends..especially the 3 point contest
totally agree NYC...once NBA2K came out Live was never able to catch up
nope the game is garbage and IF IT WEREN'T FOR THAT DEMO GAMERS WOULD'VE BEEM RIPPED OFF YET AGAIN BY EA. I remember at one point EA approach the NBA to buy and own the rights to the NBA video game , which in turn would have wioed out the 2k basketball series. Glad the NBA wised up and said no to them.
As an NBA fan it would of been a very sad day had EA gotten exclusivity like the Madden series with the NFL. And just for fun, if you thought the game breaking Jesus glitch was bad just search "double jesus" on youtube. I was ROFL.
Ever since Nba 2k5, live was grasping at the shoes of the basketball throne. Live can not and never will compete with 2k5. Last year was the only shot and now they fail.
when even the wii version of nba jam gets dogged for not being a downloadable title due to lack of content (watch gametrailers review), the answer is NO and also NO WAY am i paying 60 or even 50 for that same rushed crap on ps3, should be 19.99 psn download TOPS
live games been ass for a minute now. 2k is where it's at.
... of course not!
NEVER !!!! Live/Elite will never be able compete with the NBA 2K franchise but I like the fact that EA hasnt gave up ....... unlike Madden they still believe in competition !!!
why would they even give up ? it still usually sell a ton , and for a while , even if a long long time ago , Live was the reference , wich shows that everything can chang ein the market over time
sad part part is there are nba live/elite fanboys that pay for that garbage year after year and actually think its better than the 2k series. I hope 2k11 opens there eyes...
I never really seen one of them say outright live is better . What i've mostly heard is somewhat true : Live is way easier to pick up and play , wich make it more appropriate for casual fans and kids who dont wanna get their butts kicked by the proper simulation that 2kxx usually is
It hasn't been good since the NBA Live 2001 for PS1. I remember when the PS2 debuted with Madden 2001 as a feature launch title and it was superb. So we was thinking NBA Live PS2"s debut will follow but we was wrong. EA hasn't recovered since. too bad i waited untill 2K6. Excluse rights suck. I mean 2K baseball sucks but The Show is still same game from The Show 06/07. I just played the PS2 version of The Show 10 last night and the only difference is the player model. Its too bad EA's MVP Baseball didn't get a PS3/360 makeover.
HAS changed on the PS3! They have made some graphical tweaks but really they have done some things with the pursuit angles to fly balls and ground balls that reach the outfield that really change the way playing defense works. They have also made tweaks to the career modes and managerial system that are a bit smarter. No...there are no sweeping changes that revolutionize the game. But, as a solid title already, The Show wasn't really looking to re-invent itself...just better itself with every title. I don't think that the focus of the devs is on the lesser consoles. The PSP version has been a carbon copy from year to year as well. As for EA basketball, they just don't seem to be consistent with what they want to deliver. They have yet to get a good core game. Year after year they keep changing core mechanics, but to what. Then, they add something on TOP of that ever changing and still broken core mechanic that doesn't work. So, you just get a mess. The BEST chance that they had was with the former 2K man Wang...which was last year...and he went BACK to 2K because of creative differences.
