There's going to be a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and Spanish developer MercurySteam has apparently already begun work on it.
Thank you :D I loved Lords of Shadow and I would love the sequel.
I've just cleared Chapter 6--about halfway through--and it's FANTASTIC. I can really tell they used Castlevania IV as their model. It manages to be tough without being cheap...I can't say enough good things about it at this point.
i agree. it's so awesome! played it for quite a while last night
Not finished the game so dont want any spoilers, but based on the ending would it be a direct sequal?
Probably not. They talked about DLC, which will probably link the in game ending with the post credit ending. The sequel will probably be set quite a few years after the first one. Remember to watch after the credits! Its one of the biggest surprises of the year for me and gets me extremely excited for a sequel.
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT so gabriel becomes dracula, but im a bit a confused, did this happen because of the evil mask left behind by lucifer or was it the same as the others (the power of god raised their spirits to heaven and leaving their darkness behind on earth) so is this dracula/gabriel the dark side of the original gabriel, or is it the original gabriel with the power of the evil mask???
@redrum. Yeah, I don't really know. I'm guessing thats what the DLC will explain.
Hopefully they can capture the true essence of Castlevania this time. LoS is a good game but it certainly isn't Castlevania.
I just started the second to last chapter, som Im glad to know that there will be another game like this in the future.
thats good news. maybe this one will feature another character?
. That was fast.
Pretty soon, but we've seen faster.
Work starting on a sequel doesn't indicate release. The sequel likely won't come out until 2012.
Eh.......doesnt even compare to the metroidvanias which will probably happen on the 3ds
Yup, despite the way Konami treats Iga like crap. He already said he started on a 3DS entry but hasn't even seen the dev kit yet!
Hopefully this will feature more traditional Castlevania elements to accompany the new Lords of Shadow formula.
Such as? The only difference between this and previous castlevanias is the fact that it's in 3d. Other than that it's pretty much the same thing, except less castles and more, you know, jungles...
Sounds EXACTLY like Rocksteady and Arkham City. Good for them.
there was really no point in calling lords of shadow a castlevania title because it really wasnt (not that it was a bad game) but its not a castlevania Give me metroid plus castlevania, thats what catapulted the series to new heights, not this
Lycanthropes, necromancers, and vampires, oh my! I can see your point, but Castlevania for me is about the atmosphere. I always played the NES and SNES titles because I love campy horror films. As long as a Castlevania has those elements I really don't care what they do to the gameplay. I've never been a huge fan of Symphony of the Night compared to THE Super Castlevania IV or Castlevania III.
The game is bombing at retail. It'll be in the bargain bin very quickly.
where do you live ? just to know THE ONLY PLACE ON EARTH where castelvania isn't selling .....
This is good news! i hope the sequel goes a little farther than being a God of War obvious inspiration and actually introduces something more refreshing. Bass Fisherman
Just in case we were confused and thought it was Trout Fisherman posting? I suppose its better than "End Statement" I mean duh, of course its the end of the statement, nothing else is written afterwards, no need to write End Statement. I'm sorry, I'm having a rough morning, my bridge is being renovated and I'm out in the sun, troll skin and sun do not go well together.
That´s understandable no problem.
This is excellent news and I haven't even finished the game yet. For a 3D Castlevania game it's fantastic but I would still like to see an HD sequel to Symphony of the Night.
Did you know that symphony of the night was a sequel to rondo of blood? rondo of blood was a japanese only pc engine game until the release of the dracula x chronicles for psp which included: rondo of blood, rondo of blood remake, and it's sequel one of my favorite games that I have ever played which is symphony of the night. Though maybe one day I would like to see a third installment in the metriodvania style. I plan on eventually getting lords of shadow when it gets cheaper.
I'm playing castlevania right now and am only on the second chapter. I have to say that this is one of those great games you cant miss out on.
meh.. slow news day.. castlevania is a franchise.. lords of shadow is just a reboot.. multiple sequels were pretty much confirmed from the beginning.
Sweet! Hope this one will be a buy this time!
I am sure that they spent a lot on the engine and Konami is hurting so all they have to focus is Castlevania and MGS. Might as well give the fans what they want and what they will buy.
Oh yes! Thank you, thank you MercurySteam!!! I can not wait after that cliffhanger in LoS. Ive been plaing LoS a few days ago and the game is just downright AWESOME!!!
So to keep up with the 2011 PS3 graphics exclusives, the sequel will run at blazing 15fps? Amazing!
I will probably buy this game, the demo was really fun. So hearing theres a sequel is good news
use the chainsaw move!
sweet and i just beat the game yesterday very interesting ending
