Analysts, console makers respond to July sales

July is usually a very quiet month for game sales, representing the last lazy stretch of summer before Electronic Arts' annual release of Madden NFL and murderers' row of blockbuster hits that usually carries the industry through holidays. While the industry-tracking NPD Group yesterday released US retail sale figures for July showing the expected growth for the industry, there were plenty of interesting stories for analysts who looked beyond the recap numbers.

I'm really surprised how well every console sold this July. It's normally a very slow month for sales

So with Sony selling slightly below par with X-box 360 they are effectively standing still while M$ slightly increases its lead. Looks like role reversal for the two companies to me!!
