The latest Medal of Honor game is just the most recent game to use contemporary combat as a backdrop for a first person shooter. But as developers have learned, setting shooters in ongoing conflicts is not without its share of controversy.
can we move past the ridiculous "modern conflict" controversies please? These are GAMES (i.e. this is NOT REAL). Mckay.....geez!!
I agree, but I can sort of understand how families of dead soldiers might have gotten upset. Objectively, I don't see anything wrong with it - but if my brother or sister had been killed in Afghanistan, I can imagine reacting in a similar way. Grief is a powerful emotion.
The "Allied" forces have killed how many innocents in this "war on terror" yet they bitch and moan about a game because of the name Taliban (the game is based on the Afghan war) with whom the "Allied" forces fight everyday. How come there has never been uproar about playing as the Nazi's, Maybe this is why we will never get a true game based on the Vietnam war maybe its every war the American's didn't or can't win where there will be this uproar.
Probably because we're still fighting the Taliban now (and we may even end up letting them have some place in the new Afghan government if it'll stop them from trying to overthrow it). I'm pretty sure there have been a quite a few Vietnam games though - none of them were major titles, but they exist.
