A week after PlayStation celebrated its 15th Anniversary, we're mixing nostalgia with the modern day and deciding once and for all what PlayStation exclusives you should have had on your shelf at some point to get the best out of Sony's consoles.
(Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid, PS3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves)
I dont know why people are getting disagrees. FF7 and MGS were both released on PC. The PC version of ff7 sucked and MGS will only run on an old machine but there still not exclusives in the literal sense of the word.
^^ There's a patch to get MGS running on current hardware. I got it running on Windows 7 without the startup error or crash. Another problem is if your graphics card is too new then you can't run fullscreen right away or the game will crash. I had this issue but asked around in forums and you gotta run it in windowed mode first, turn hardware rendering off I think it was, then restart in fullscreen. That's how I got mine to work
Posers Its funny how almost every major list by a major website that talks about "Greatest Exclusives" for Playstation always leaves out SOCOM 2. The fact that they leave this game out shows me they haven't been around all that long or they just don't have a clue of what they are talking about.
one of my faviroute games from the ps2 was onimusha 2. Im pretty sure it was exclusive and i remember the graphics being stunning. Especially the water in my opinion its still the best ive seen. Other than that metal gear solid 2 and granturismo 3 are my other faves and tekken 1 and crash team racing on the ps1.
I'm sad to say that I never played ICO on the PS2, but I will be buying the ICO/SOTC collection for the PS3 though. I've heard nothing but praise for ICO and I won't miss out on it again.
Yeah i never got to play it either i think i seen a friend of mine play it before years ago. But just never got the chance with the game i will get the collection also right away.
I skipped PS1 and PS2 consoles (didn't play games) but on PS3 tried to play SotC. The quality was so bad on my HDTV I just skipped it. Now that it's being remastered I will give both a try.
re people are going to disagree with you because you said the quality was bad, but I did the same thing. Even though it's a stunning game, with all the innovation in the gaming industry graphics wise, its hard to go back to such a dated game but with the it being remastered im deff getting it too
MGS3 or MGS1 or MGS4? It's really hard for me to pick the best.GT4 over GT3?. U2 i think its too early to be on a all time greatest PS exclusive list. The same as LBP.
There are a lot more then 7 It says Playstation which one can only assume since they are listing PS2 and PS1 games that means every generation. This list should be a LOT longer if we are talking about the best playstation exclusives since PS1. Rather then listing a single game I would list series...
Jak and Daxter Crash Bandicoot Final Fantasy Twisted Metal Ratchet and Clank God of War (how was that not on the list) MLB The show SOCOM Metal Gear Solid (every game was frickin awesome)
That's just to name a few "series" of games that are awesome and have help defined what the Playstation is today.
I might be old school but... Front mission 3 Time Splitters Onimusha Legend Of Dragoon Zone of the Enders Tekken Tag Tournament Shadow of colosus Ico GTA3
No way I could just pick 7 Here's my top 10 in no particular order.
Shadow Of The Colossus
Ico
Sly 2: Band Of Theives
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
Twisted Metal 2
Twisted Metal Black
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 4
Uncharted 2
God Of War Collection( this is kind of cheating since it's 2 games rereleased but the original is my favorite)
Technically Playstation was the only platform that has all the main MGS games on it so you can say that the series itself is an exclusive. As for the my list ( in no order ): Gran Turismo, MGS, Team ICO Games, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Dexter, Final Fantasy 7, KH. Of course there are many others that are maybe better than ones I've mentioned above but no one can grab all the flowers at one pick.
i cnt really say never played any gran turismo neva played ico neva played any mgs except part 4 i just started gameing hard since ps3 played onli handfull of ps2 games i will be getting all the re-makes i know for sure sony brings quality software and hardware
Warhawk Even with good games like MW2, BC2, and Halo:Reach and it being an old game....Warhawk is still the most enjoyable and exciting online experience. Simple fun that is withstanding the test of time.
If it only had (1) campaign mode, (2) bots, (3) Sprint function, and (4) modern-cool looking weapons, equipment, vehicles and environments, it would have gone down as one of the all time great shooters.
Warhawk deserves a proper sequel as Killzone got with KZ2....a chance to get everything right this time. But even as it is, Warhawk is still one of the all time great PS exclusives...and grossly under-rated and unappreciated.
the thing about PlayStation, is that it has too many amazing titles to just narrow it down to 7. you could make up another list of 7 without having a single one of the titles in that 7:
1) God of War 3 2) Shadow of the Colossus 3) Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (can also be swapped out for A Crack In Time) 4) Final Fantasy VII (or IX) 5) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) 6) Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy 7) Demon's Souls (or Valkyria Chronicles)
that's not even including PS1 gems like Alundra, Legend of Dragoon, Vandal Hearts, Suikoden, Vagrant Story, Ape Escape, Jumping Flash, etc, even Killzone 2 and the Resistance franchise.
i absolutely LOVE the diversity of the PlayStation library. i was skeptical back in 1995, when the PS1 landed on the scene. i was a diehard Genesis fanboy, but still had love for the SNES. it really wasn't until Tomb Raider, MGS1, Castlevania: SOTN, FFVII, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill hit the PS1 that i was like, "ok, i think Sony has what it takes." three superb consoles later, and they haven't disappointed me yet.
this upcoming year is looking AMAZING for the PS3. i have no doubt that it will match it's older brothers when all is said and done in terms of delivering fantastic gaming experiences exclusive to the platform.
My favortie playtation games that I were introduce to would be reisdent evil 2, metal gear solid 3, silent hill, and twisted metal, plus a bunvh more im not even gonna bother naming.
This is quite possibly the worst list ever No Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night (I know it's on Saturn, but they added MGS1 which is on Gamecube and PC and FFVII is on PC as well) or Lament Of Innocence? No Megaman X4. No Devil May Cry. No Shadow Of The Colossus. No Crash Team Racing. No Legend Of Dragoon. No Zone Of Enders. No Resident Evil. No Silent Hill.
Why this list is the worst, is because it just looks like they didn't actually research anything, just used the same games they always use with no thought process.
Metal Gear Solid was not exclusive to PlayStation as it was also released for PC Windows, Konami also did a remastered version on the GameCube called Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Final Fantasy VII was not exclusive to PlayStation as it was also released for PC Windows.
This guy or girl needs to do research before making up facts.
For me Gran Turismo is the best thing Sony PlayStation has, can't wait for my Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition

Was on PC, so not really an exclusive. Same for MGS. SotC is awesomeness!

i agree with 54.2
SotC should be on that list

i mean technically speaking it was also on gamecube
fact is not allow here on N4G but only fanboy opinion is allow :)

"there was an amazing version of MGS on the gamecube"
It WAS amazing, until... Snake jumped on a missile to fire his stinger.
That was simply... Lame..

It was Gamespot's GOTY for crying out loud.
and the list is fail w/o Shadow Of The Colossus
but not that bad of a list overall. Seems like a best of 7 PS1 exclusives was more appropriate.

I have the PC version of Metal Gear Solid so it's not a PS exclusive.
Therefore add San Andreas and Killzone 2
+shadow of the colossus
