Harmonix Gets DLC Right

Whether you love music games or not, you have to marvel at Harmonix and their DLC support for their Rock Band titles. As many developers scramble to appease the masses by releasing expensive maps, outfits, game modes, and more, Harmonix simply gives people an option every week to add songs to their game or not. I know, sounds crazy that a system like that works... giving gamers what they want, but apparently the idea is a good one.... (PS3, Rock Band, Wii, Xbox 360)

Great article. Yeah, Harmonix is certainly the leader in DLC. Wish other devs would pay attention

It's funny how when someone does something right, people follow. Hence why Rock Band leads the music genre pack...

Sort Of
I like the size of the library but their content has been shakey lately. I would like to see them rename the game to something else other than "Rock" Band if they plan to keep including punk, rap, and country music in the DLC. I like the versitility but the new pricing for Guitar Pro tracks may be a killer for the guitar. Not to mention it costs $250 on top of the extra $1 per track. All the more reason I am happy to do the drums and get the DLC at the same price!

Personally, I don't care if it's called Rock Band, Music Band, or whatever... as long as they keep a variety of music coming out, they're meeting the needs of fans. True, that the Pro Guitar is not cheap... but it's a real guitar with added electronics... of course it was going to be expensive. And if it teaches people how to play guitar, then it's still a lot cheaper than personal lessons.
