With steering wheels dropping in price, and more gamers choosing to use them with games such as F1 2010 and GT5, is this putting controller users at such a disadvantage that they'll avoid playing online all together?
Lower cost wheels means... just get a low cost wheel. What a ridiculous crybaby article. Let me guess - buh....but that means people who can afford a wheel go faster. Yep that's right, just like real F1 - the teams that invest in the equipment go faster. r.
Although I respect your approach, I still reckon that it will piss off some mature gamers. I mean, if im playing with a 6 speed gear stick G25 on Manual with clutch, it would be much more fun if the other online players were also using it. It would feel much more authentic.
Don't feel gimped from using a clutch, because it's proven that you can shift gears faster with a clutch in GT5P than without. That's why the clutch was disabled in GT5TT so it was fair for people that weren't using it.
It's a freaking driving game. it should be played on a wheel. That being said does Gt5 support the clutch on the G25 cause I have one and would to use the clutch.
for a wheel but i do just fine online
Ryuzu did you even read the article? It concludes by saying they haven't ruined online racing but makes a point that developers might want to consider to level the playing field. Read the full story before making stupid comments.
Defend your own site much?
Look, if you don't even read the article then there's no point having a paddy about it. The intro here clearly suggests it's a two sided article.
Then write, submit it and move on. Don't sit here and defend it unless you don't believe in it. Anybody with webspace is now a critic. So be it, but learn how to take the critcism like a man. Don't rush here up in arms to defend it. I don't agree with your opinion. Deal with it!
then maybe you should consider giving it a less misleading title.
Stop using sensationalist headlines before posting your stories. The content should merit the hits and not the title.
Just get one of these and be done with it :) http://www.break.com/index/...
I've got to get me one of those! Just one thing. Anyone got €20,000 I can borrow for a while?
it reminded me of the Days of Thunder ride at Kings Island. imagine getting all that just watching a movie. that looked sooo fun. i want one now.
Playing motorstorm with that would be the best!
awesome! lol @ "20,000 euros, which must be 50 dollas nowdays" xD
lol @ "20,000 euros, which must be 50 dollas nowdays" more like 27.306 dollars and increasing everyday
Do you know how mauch it costs?
buying a car would be cheaper, i think. q:
it's less cheaper than byuing a real f1 though :)
It makes me want to walk over to my rig and take a sledge to it. LOL! That simracer is insane sick. It's better than the setup they had at gamescon. http://www.youtube.com/watc... fast forward to 19:30 or so.
I would have to install a toilet on that thing because I would never leave.
My racing setup is a joke compared to that but I have it set up right next to my bathroom for that very reason. I can go quick between races while it's loading the next track. It's also set up 6 feet from the fridge and micorwave. ;) Some of the setups you guys are linking are sick! I just wish I could bankroll a VRX racer. It's a racing cockpit built on dbo and imotion technology. Those setups start at 5k and are upwards of 30k. I love racing games but that's too rich for my blood. Guess I will stick to my G27 and 911 S for now.
@Fishy Fingers,.. oo ,..holly shit,.. needs 3d glasses,.. :)
gt5 should have online lobbies for people using only controllers and people using steering wheels.... seems simple enough
Buy a cheap wheel and move on.
I think you missed the point somewhat.
And your newly edited comment about the wheel being a learning curve proves you haven't read the whole article. Figures. And edited again to stop yourself looking stupid? Smooth.
I am planning on buying a wheel for GT. Never bought one before.. Are these less expensive wheels worth it ?
a logitech g25, that's enough for me
I wish I had the G27 but the Driving Force GT is good enough for me. I remember using the dualshock, it's much too sensitive and requires more braking. It would be nice if PD give an option to separate those with a steering wheel or no steering wheel but honestly, the steering wheel is what separates the more dedicated players from the not so dedicated. If you want a good experience, get the wheel.
All the best Laptimes are set on controllers, on most games. I held the top LT on 2 of the tracks on Dirt, and top 5 on 8 of them. With a pad...
^Here ladies and gentlemen we have someone that knows what in the hell he is talking about! A buddy of mine rushed out and purchased a wheel and cockpit. Dropped nearly 2k on it and barely uses it now because he does much better on a regular controller. Something this author obviously doesn't understand. Most console games are written for controllers and not 900 degree FFB wheels.
using a wheel requires learning curve ! I used to play GT5P with the DS3.. and i wasnt bad online... then i bought the DFGT, lol.. i lose 2-3 seconds per lap easily... compared to when i was using the DS3. But i was persistent, i kept on practicing and practicing with the wheel, so i start to do better.. but i did not shave 2-3 seconds off the time set with a ds3. maybe half to a second.. and that's it.
I do just fine against people with wheels. I have been racing in car games iwtht he dualshock analog sticks since GT2 and I do just fine. I think companies should allow mouse and keyboard support for FPS if they allow steering wheels and arcade sticks. Its not cheating if its optional to everybody and some people are better with dualshock then they are with mouse. Its just what you prefer. Steering wheels are optional too so if you dont want to buy it then dont. You should not be separated by lobbies just because someone decide they wanted to shell out money for something optional that you did not.
