Nintendo's sent over the official Nintendo 3DS spec list, which details just about every nook and cranny of the new handheld.
CPU and memory please!!!!!!
It's a portable Wii.
Ahh.. It haz teh internetz.. very nice!
yes but does it have the same poorly designed TCP stack as the DS? And I'm not impressed by that screen resolution. I knew we'd lose half the horizontal resolution for 3d mode but I had hoped they would have had higher resolution than that. 240 vertical resolution for a screen that size is pretty lame. I have several phones with screens about that size and they have 800x480 and 800x600 resolution.
Pretty lame if you ask me. The total res including both screens and both rendered fields for 3D is lower than EDTV standard. I don't understand where all those "360 like performance" comments came from.
at least you can tranfer games off old dsi's instead of them being tied to the console. looks amazing but i might wait for the inevitable 3DS Lite
i am sooooo happy :-) I would love being able to launch games from the SD card. Hopefully they will address that for the 3DS/DSi like they did for the wii.
Alright, what is this AR stuff? Surely it can't be Action Replay.
Augmented Reality. Invizimals is an example of an augmented reality game.
Once this baby is in consumers hand, word of mouth will let people know how amazing the screen is. You can't see 3D effects in a trailer. But just wait till it hits kiosks/displays. ;)
I don't know about that. I've seen this tech before, it's not new. There were phones with it a couple years ago. It's interesting but it's problematic due to having to stay in the correct position all the time and on such a small screen the 3d effect isn't all that impressive. It's cool the first time you see it but quickly wears thin.
whatever you saw on the phone wasn't nearly as polished as anything that the leading videogame devs are doing with the 3ds.
I don't think the devs will have much impact on this. It's sort of like looking at a little diorama set up inside a tiny box. The screen size is the problem, not the content. It's not very immersive at such a small size. The 3Ds screen is a bit bigger but I expect it's still much too small. For a handheld device I expect you'd need at least a 10-12 inch screen for a good 3D effect, but then it's too big to really considered a hand held. And if I recall the screen resolution was higher than what the 3ds is doing, and this was a couple of years ago.
@kneon. what phones had this tech? links please. when you play a hand held theres basically one position you look at it from... right in front of it, plus or minus a degree of two. i think they might have taken that variable into consideration. Unless you're on a plane watching a guy play it three seats across from you i think it'll work pretty well.
looks like a psp
no, the psp looks like a psp. I have psp and this definitely doesn't look like mine.
I'm really excited to see what this thing can do in person. I'll be the one in the Wal-Mart electronic center not letting the 12-year old behind me play. XD!
