SystemLink: "Thanks to a job listing on Gamasutra, we know that Ubisoft Massive, formerly Massive Entertainment, are now hiring for a Gameplay Programmer on a brand new game."
I want rainbow six
Ubisoft Massive don't make that. But I'd love to see them try - it would shake up the series a bit, changing dev team...Maybe a more realistic, gritty theme?
Could they even make R6 more realistic in regards to the combat?
Realistic maybe wasn't the right word - gritty, darker. More blood, more grusome, less bright colours and happy endings
Gee, another FPS. Just what the gaming industry needed. I heard Activision was coming out with another Guitar Hero, too!
Far and away the biggest selling and most popular genre of this generation, so clearly, FPS is something the majority of the gaming puplic are happy to see more of. It's all supply and demand, if there is demand, manufacturers will supply.
Yeah they should bring rainbow six back
Because the gaming world needs more FPS. *rollseyes*
BUT DIZ 1 IZ MULTIPLYR! OMFG INNOVATION! /sarcasm. Honestly, I don't care if it's another FPS - if it's good, I'll like it. If it's bad, I'll set fire to the disc.
If it's bad, why buy it only to burn it?
'Coz that's the way I roll. BOW CHICKA WOW WOWWWW
Neck, if you've never set fire to a disk, you haven't lived yet.
Actually if Neck hasen't set fire to disc, then he just isn't cool.
I don't mind more fps games if they are good. I know it's the latest craze to hate fps games, to make out that they are evil, but I like them. I'm not too keen on MP games though so I'll likely miss this one out. Because I don't have to buy it! EDIT:@McCCCCOrmo It certainly seems to be the latest craze. I see that sort of comment all too often - Oh great, another fps /s
No, the "latest craze" is not to hate FPS games, just to hate games that churn out the same ol' thing with no innovation or improvement. And I guess it's not the latest craze, either. You'll find that most discerning gamers have that attitude.
a MAG contender maybe?
hmm dont think its a new ip
Rainbow six would be nice hopefully. A diffrent location like los angles
why Los Angeles? don't they get enough gun fire around anyways? (Zing!) lol just messin' all you LA fans. love LA myself.
must be FAR CRY 3.
To be fair to FPS titles, it was never so much the genre as it was the innovation behind each individual title. There was one point where every other FPS was related to WW1 or WW2/Nazis/Vietnam somehow, and it just got boring playing pretty much the same, but tweaked, storyline each time. At least nowadays a fair few FPS titles are "new" and "modern"; Modern Warfare/Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company/Bad Company 2, Medal Of Honor (IRAQ etc). All of which have their unique features and take into account modern wars or have "new" storylines. As long as each title raises the standard of the genre or adds something new to shake it up I couldn't really care less about how many are made... as long as it doesn't revert back to WW1/WW2 titles continuously churned out.
i think the problem goes beyond that. it's not so much that modern FPS shooters are played out, that the whole sci-fi thing has been done since practically sci-fi's inception, or that historical war games has been done over and over again. i agree that its constant rehashing and familiarity is what drives gamers mad, but i think it's also how poorly developers try to offer a unique experience. it seems like to me that just about every developer has been opting for the same controls and format similar to COD4, same mission types and mission structures, same weapons and feel, and almost all online mulitplayer games seem impartial to weapon-pickups like in the good ol' days. i don't know if i'm making too much of a point, but i guess what i'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter what the theme of a game is (although i guess you could account for WW2 shooters since it's usually based upon existing knowledge we already know about the war), but more so of offering unique story premises, better set pieces, more uniqueness and variety, etc etc. some of the best games to offer that this gen has been bioshock, mirror's edge, killzone 2 (not so much for the campaign since it has some of the problems that i've mentioned, but more so because of the technical and graphical fidelity of the game was unrivaled, arguably even to this day as a matter of fact), halo reach (THIS is the true Halo 3 imo), singularity, resistance 2, rainbow six vegas 1 & 2, borderlands (before it starts getting boring), and a bunch of other FPSs. other FPSs to look forward to based on what i think looks unique about them: brink, killzone 3, rage, crysis 2, and again other titles that i'm too lazy to mention. it's not the genre or the type of game that makes it lame, it's the developer's lack of originality to put into a game's mindframe. games
Really...FPS # 1,925,347,680. You know its starting to get old. We get it really we do. Question: If everyone is pushing out the next FPS...why do they not innovate these things. I mean seriously have a real Zombie game. Real consequences for your survival. Hell have a population increase and decrease. make that a game mode...call it "Lunch Meat" or "Dinner for 3 Billion". You know what If I become a millionaire my first order of business after making sure my moms is set up for life is to make said Zombie game. Might treat it like an MMO so we can change sh!t around on you. Otherwise it will be a typical survival type thing, food, water, shelter, guns, zealots, racism, all that with zombies. A evolving dynamic Structure. You are either a Zombie or a human. You might even just start out as human and as people make mistakes the zombies become more and more...until humans are out numbered. There is the loop hole of when the zombie gets its head blown off...hmm. But no ultra gear, none of that. No flying mounts lol but their can be realistic things like planes, buses, malls, houses, etc.
