"When I first started writing stories for games, I began by trying to figure out what I wanted to say. This approach never turned out so well, so I started just to write, trying to let the story tell itself. This ended up being much harder than simply planning out a story from start to finish and I still ended up with spotty results. So lately I've begun to start working on game stories by asking myself, "What questions do I want to ask?" This approach, so far, seems to be the best.

Over the course of this article I will go over each of these approaches, explaining their differences and investigate into why the final one appears to me to be superior."
