I am a bit confused...

I don't think that game store employees are unfairly exploited in any sense of the word...I realize that I only rarely visit a few local stores on occasion, mostly a gamestop to by very early ps2 titles that I never happened to own...but I have not once met any knowledgeable employee that didn't attempt to push garbage opinions on me...at any of the local stores...This is very regular at bigger retailers, such as Best Buy or Circuit City, in which the floor staff rotates area to area, and not one of them has any clue of the items they are actually trying to sell...but that is acceptable, in that these said peeps may or may not be gamers in the first place...

however...it is bad enough around here that I simply don't interact in any way shape or form with any of the employees at that gamestop...ALL of them try to get me to buy a Wii, despite the fact that I am no where near any of the Wii's shelf...and when I say "I don't want or like that thing"...they get extremely confused, and say "oh you are a 360 owner then huh?"...which is equally suprising/confusing/annoying considering I am not looking for any 360 titles as well...when i reply with "no"...it is 100% always "well how are you going to play Halo 3"...

it is pretty much a no win situation for these guys...they are in the business of selling stuff, which by its own merit is stereotypically annoying...Most of them probably realize that the they are only helping ignorant consumers...and a vast majority of the sales people are ignorant as a supplier as well...

Now there is hope for anyone attempting to sell games to become more knowledgeable to what they are selling...if they read this site and others, they would at least be aware of various news aricles in the industry...I have heard ignorant mom after ignorant mom being told to buy a 360 that day, when in a few months the hardware issues would be completely worked out most likely...something an ignorant mom would very much appreciate hearing...the staff didn't even mention the MS public hardware beta still being administered right now, even though the ignorant mom (by means of regular tevelivision news watching) could have put him in his place very quickly by asking "what about the hardware problems"...

I know there are guys on this site that work there...and I am assuming that since you are on this site you are one of the few that actually care about the products you are selling, and would most likely be of very good service to a parent or anyone purchasing a gift for someone else...and would also hopefully know that there are non-ignorant people that go to the store that simply know what they want, and if they have a question, will simply ask...rather than being word-raped with your opinions on why the PS3 sucks...and I also understand working in a situation where you are under commission...I worked as a car salesman through college at a local Hyundai dealership...I had the higest sales of any part time employee for those 3 years running...and all I did was read about hyundai's in magazines and consumer reports every day at lunch...and although i have always loved cars, do you think I loved hyundais?...hell no, I would have preferred working at a Porsche dealership...but that still didn't stop me from at least understanding as much as I could about the products I was trying to sell...so at least, i wasn't feeding someone buying something a load of crap...
