Wii sales increase in Japan; ranks three in top 10

Sales for Nintendo Co.'s Wii increased on strong software demand in the latest sales figures from Japan.

Media Create Co. on Tues. reported that the Wii sold 65,120 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12, an increase from a total of 61,498 units the week prior.

The Wii is becoming to Japan what Starcraft is in Korea. You know, something that will eventually slow down in sales because everyone got 2 for themselves and one for their dog.

Seriously, the Wii's numbers are just...insane. It's too bad Nintendo can't get the parts the need to increase production. I wonder if that means all the little companies that make the pieces that go into the Wii can't keep up with demand, either.

I think the holidays will be interesting just for the Wii. Shortages, still, almost a year later...we'll see the Wii sold out though December, when sales really pick up, but Nintendo not able to make as much as people want.

i know this can be seen as news here, but isn't it getting a bit old?
one week, it's "360 on top," then it's "PS3 pwns," then back to "Wii #1"
