Sales for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 continued to decrease in the latest retail sales data from Japan. Media Create Co. on Tues. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 2,112, a decrease from 2,691 units the week prior.
This is shocking!!
very very shocking, that in japan, it went down 2000 sales to the exact same ammount its pretty much been selling every week since since a month after launch...and that magic number IS!!!! 1500-2000 units..
hahaha ps3 rules (reply) i will enjoy warhawk i play the demo its great go play boring azz bioshock dont fall asleep crapbox360 suckzzzzzzzz
ROFL man your so smart, enjoy your "AAA titles" your 5.0 Lair and 6.5 Warhawk from your own mag
man you're an idiot. PSM isn't owned by sony you fool. why the hell would anybody rate their own games??? besides both lair and warhawk have been given high ratings by other people. not to mention the guy who did these ratings use to work for OXM. check the 360 side for the story i don't feel like looking for it but im pretty sur others can confirm it.
i wonder how long will it take for 360 to reach 1, 000, 000 in japan
I think the 720 will be out by then, if it ever happens at all.
the xbox1080 will be out and it comes with a Fire Extinguisher just spray when once when the red rings come on
If they sold it for $3.60 . Hell even at that price for the Japanese consumer might be asking for too much :D
should just abandon any hopes of selling thier system in japan its crystal clear the japanese dont want anything to do with the console instead wasting all that effort over there they should concentrate on other regions who have accepted thier system.
From the country that brought you winners like Beautiful Kalamari.....Ack! There's no accounting for taste, although there is something to be said for buying domestic. Here's how to bolster 360 sales in Japan. Instead of a basic white case, market the 360 wrapped in images of semi-nude cartoon girls. It would be a huge seller. Go figure.
and One of the most original games ever made. I was obssessed with the game for a while. America is much worst in the games they choose, imo. They only enjoy sports, and shooters.
Microsoft could stop selling defective hardware.
The only thing Japan is good at is art and character design. I think the real problem is that the developers are complacent. With the exception of a few devleopers like Team Ninja and Capcom, Japan is stagnant. Random battles, fixed cameras, and turn-based combat have been around way too long.
I'm amazed by the amount of people who diss Japan, and their "tastes." It's on the opposite side of the world from the U.S., the culture is entirely different. Instead of trying to assimilate them into playing FPS games online, which is apparently an advance according to some people, it's up to console makers to market their machines to appeal to the people there. Microsoft has failed to do this properly, as Sakaguchi himself would tell you, and the Xbox 360 is suffering because of it. Different genres appeal to different people living in different cultures. Some people need to understand this, and stop acting like the Borg.
Beautiful Kalamari damm good game. so what the hell are you talk about
I would have thought Bioshock would have helped the 360 sales atleast a little bit in Japan...go figure...
If the PS3 ever gets a good game they'll sell 2 million consoles in one day easy. The 360 could come out with a 4 dimensional graphic RPG in Japanese and it still wouldn't sell any consoles.
You speak truth.
that is sooo ture MS should just give up
take the games like blue dragon and trusty bell and see what kind of sales they get being ported to the ps3.
He who loses Japan, also loses the...
IN that view... Nintendo is winning, so MS and Sony are both losing?
feel sorry for MS. Almost... It's actually quite embarrassing.
I would feel sorry for them if anybody.
In other news,Al Quaeda hates America...
Do you know Europe Cars and Japan Cars sell pretty well in Japan and not US cars???? Applied the same reason to XBOX 360. Crappy failing hardware. I owned and 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra and cousins owned a Ford F150. That thing was superb in the beginning but started to falling apart in just 3 years time. Mine in the shop at least 5 times per year. Same went to my cousins F150. so before pulling the nationalism card, ask why other US products sell perfectly in Japan but some other don't. It's simple than you think. Well all I can say is Japanese are more consumer-awared ppl. Don't even try to slip in crap to them.
before the RROD really became an issue.
RROD issues was there since launch. RROD issue is not a sneaky bastard, it didn't sneak itself in sometime in the middle of something. It just that there are so many cumulative reports that microsoft can't avoid it anymore. RROD is there since launch. There are reported hardware failures in the beginning. Peter moore tried to brush it off with 5% in case you forget.
You just spoke what I had in mind - the car analogy. Bubble 4 u.
exacta mundo... american cars only sell well in america because of nationalism.. while german and japanese cars sell everywhere because of quality craftsmanship. I will never buy an american car, but I do want one of those sweet looking new mustangs, but I won't let myself do it. I'll stick with the 68 mustang when americans had pride in their quality of work.
and they would not take it. Success in Japan does not carry the same weight it used too. I think the 360 doesn't need Japan, but MS is far from giving up on it. I would rather see them focus on the UK, Korea, India, etc where the system is more accepted. First thing MS needs to do is fire their entire Japanese marketing team, they have failed miserably in their jobs. I like to see the 360 have some success their, but really I could give a flip what Japan does with the 360. As long as companies like Capcom keep getting huge sales from the western gamers they aren't going to stop supporting the system.
The sole reason why MS continues to market their console in japan is because japan is a very important gaming market. Whoever says it is not important should face this fact. On a side note I hope noone shouts out "the Japanese hates us Americans because of WW2." You know this is not true..
With the console selling for what amounts to $150 (based on the news article yesterday saying that they were selling for about 85GBP) and the AAA titles coming out for it, starting with Bioshock today, there is no reason NOT to buy a 360. Hell, if PS3's were selling for $150, I'd buy one! ...even if it's currently not good for anything other than keeping my feet warm as a foot rest during the cold Canadian winters! In my opinion, there just isn't any good games for the PS3 right now - and with Lair and Warhawk getting the reviews they are, that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon - but it would still be worth the $150! That's chump change. How the Japanese don't feel the 360 is worth $150 is beyond me. Isolationist. That's all it is. You can't say there's no appealing games for them either; the Japanese are known to spend over $150 for a SINGLE GAME (provided its for Sony or Nintendo) - they have more than a single game that is geared towards them on the 360. That should equal a purchase. ...It must be "uncool" or something to own a 360 in Japan, that's the only real explanation I can come up with. (And a pretty sad one at that).
And they're going to rise in USA and Europe. Just got the new MediaMarkt brochure delivered. The Core 279 Euro (although before my local MM already had it @ 269) Premium 349 Euro Elite 449 Euro There you go. Combined with Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Moto GP 07 and Two Worlds this month the sales will spike again because whats on the PS3? Warhawk rated about a 6? Lair that sucks? mmhhhhh and then Halo 3 is coming up. Major explosion of sales in Europe/USA for sure. Japan? Wiiiiiiiiiiiiii No 360 nor PS3
Ohhh i know what M$ is doing.. it looks like they got mixed up in a game of limbo.... How low can ya go... oh how low can you go.. ba da dum.. how low can you go... woohoo.. M$ wins the limbo contest.. everyone goes ape wild.
LOL @theMART ....I feel sorry for you all xbox fans hehehehhe.....you know why? because japan is the land of gaming as we know it ...where were videogames born ? japan ....where do all the great games come from ? japan ....from where do we get the most original and fun-playing games ? japan ....where's the home of the most successful gaming franchise in the world ever ? yep ...japan .....and where does the console war end ? you guessed it ...it's not the frikkin US, nor the porn and gay infested netherlands....it's JAPAN. get over it mart ...the 360 is a failure in every respect...as i said in another post ....the 360 buzz is just premature ejaculation (it got released first so hell yeah it offers more games now)....but you just wait for ps3's load starting this holiday season ....it will blow you away marty boy.
Land of gaming... wow... that's a big statement right there... mmm... I wonder why non-Japanese games like Halo, Madden, bioshock, etc... piss all over most Japanese games in terms of sells.
At least Microsoft managed to prove that an american console can't succeed in Japan. It's not about the games or price. The xbox 360 currently have more games targetted to their audience and made by their own developers. They will not buy it. I don't blame them for avoiding american products as much as they can. Didnt the US nuked the crap out of them and prohibit them from even having an Army? Heck.. it does not matter how much they pretend to like americans I am sure they remember that. Anyways.. I don't live in Japan. I live in the US. And as long as games are released in my region I can care less what Japan buys or does not buy. I think Microsoft should just support Japan in order to keep the releationship between japanese developers open. Concentrate primarity on the US and EU. let Sony and Nintendo fight over Japan. try making exclusive deals with companies like EA. reach a large enough installbase. Microsoft and developers are making lots of money selling games to only 11 Million consoles... if they can push it to 30 Mil... they would do just fine.
I think it's really ignorant for u to say japanese hate Americans. Do you know after WW2 the japanese have a inferior complex, in which they adore the products and lifestyles of Americans? Hollywood movies, Mcdonalds, and ipods are all very popular in japan, and they are all American products. 360 fails in japan on the basis that it is plagued by hardware problems and that the games don't really appeal to the japanese, not to mention that the brand name is not as popular over there. Please, do me a favor, don't bring out the nationalism card every time the sales of 360 fall in japan.
Japan is a dying wh0re... Just kidding. But I do think that the U.S. is MS no.1 priority.
they was no sale to even talk about come on they are selling xbox 360 for $170 and no one is buying it that is tell me some "give it up"
your cut price xbox and with every xbox sold we will give you one absolutley free red ring of death!!!
My guess is that they didn't marketed the system enough, and the games that were coming out for it didn't appeal to the Japanese audience.
Whether it sells 0 units to 3,000 units it's basically nothing. They should just stop reporting 360 hardware.
Seriously, how can any gamer applaud this? M$ should just give up on japan and concentrate on the US and Europe. The only way M$ will ever succeed in japan is if they put out fruity dating sims, tired Gundam titles, and non game time wasters that the japanese seem to love. It doesn't matter if they succeed in japan anyway, because the installed bases in the US and Europe are too big for third party publishers to ignore.
