Doesn't seem very powerful at all.

Uses 2 last gen iPod touch/zune processors (one for each screen I assume)

EYEamNUMBER12885d ago

considering what ive seen seeing from the 3DS so far i disagree

darthv722885d ago

its the software and dev talent that count. Those that are able to pull off amazing tricks you couldnt even think possible.

I can think back to the genesis and the first batch of titles and then look at the ones it had near its end and its like night and day. Same hardware folks...just a different approach to getting every last drop.

I hope they wise up and revise it so that the control stick/nub is on the OPPOSITE side of the screen from the D-pad.

I wanted to punch a wall when I found out that they did the same thing PSP did with the control nub.

fatstarr2885d ago

how would that even work... for non fps games and such?

CrazyForGames2885d ago

i never did like rumors that were based on nothing but oh someone we know who we can't say who it is said it was this and that

i prefer the rumors that have some kind of source credible or not over no source at all

Muletroid2885d ago

im not too sure but shouldn't this be classified as rumor?

EYEamNUMBER12885d ago

actually now that you mention it your right

shouldn't it have a rumor tag in it?

ozstar2884d ago

HEY Ign were eventually right about Kid Icarus.

It took 2 years, it was on a different console, but it came true.

frankymv2885d ago

The PSP2 will blow this out of the water

qface642885d ago

it depends on what exactly you mean by blow out of the water?

remember when everyone was saying the psp would destroy the DS it was the end on nintendo blah blah etc etc look how that turned out

frankymv2885d ago (Edited 2885d ago )

Ok, let me clarify..

The PSP2 will graphically blow the 3DS out of the water.

As for sales, I have no idea.

Stealth20k2885d ago

Who cares about graphics? The 3ds wil be the greatest handheld ever

qface642885d ago

well considering the 3DS is getting a HUGE graphics upgrade over the DS and considering the excellent line up of games so far that really doesn't matter at the moment

hot4play2885d ago

The PSP KILLED the GameBoy brand and forced Ninendo to come up with a...(ahem)..."third pillar" called the DS. :)

qface642885d ago (Edited 2885d ago )

i really hope your just joking and or being sarcastic with what you said i seriously do if your not then wow.. just wow
normally id take what you said as a joke considering it is just that a joke but here on N4G not so much

considering the DS brand released november 21st 2004 while the psp brand launched december 12th 2004
not to mention the DS name was shown practically 2 years before its release
not to mention the gameboy brand still has outsold the psp brand

so honestly i hope you were just joking
i can't tell the jokes from seriousness on here anymore...

ozstar2885d ago

PSP apparently killed the Gameboy DURING the height of Pokemon global domination? WOW, you must be right.

Stealth20k2885d ago

And yet the 3ds will be the biggest handheld ever, go figure

Trunkz Jr2885d ago

FF6 Remake with voice acting and 3D, etc FTW!

fatstarr2885d ago

the 3ds is pretty powerful more than 3x as powerful as the dsixl

2 processor and a dedicated gpu and nintendo is always conservative with the clock speeds.

Dr-Zoidberg2882d ago (Edited 2882d ago )

With game consoles it should never be about the hardware, it is always about the games. If we have to talk about hardware then just look at Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 running on out dated hardware they look superb. Why? because it is how games developers utilise the hardware not the power of the hardware.

I detest PC gamers and any other hardware powerhouse fans who come along and chuck money and nonsense at how much better their games look. They have a point indeed but I am much more amazed by developers who use witchcraft to bring out amazing titles from old hardware. On a side note yes I do have a laptop that plays games fine and my all time favourite is L4D2 because it is a blast to PLAY not to look at.

For me it is how enjoyable a game is. The DS may be lacking in the hardware department and indeed some games do look bad but for me the DS. It has some fantastic games, a few are not too bad looking either. I am a 24 year old male and I love the DS much more than the PSP. The PSP is a good gaming device but it lacks the amount of quality titles compared to the DS.

Look at Metacritic 7 DS games have an average in the 90 region, the PSP has 3.

I can't specualte how good the PSP2 will be but given the track record I think in the handheld war Nintendo will win again.

IGN has learned that the Nintendo 3DS will pack not one, but two 266MHz ARM11 CPUs, along with a 133MHz GPU, 4MBs of dedicated VRAM, 64MBs of RAM, and 1.5GBs of flash storage

4MB dedicated Video RAM, nah can't be with the graphics it can pull off.

darthv722885d ago

in the right hands, amazing things can happen regardless of limitations.

EYEamNUMBER12885d ago

that is so true the 3DS games we have seen so far look absolutely amazing (resident evil for me) and this is just the consoles start the games released later on down the road will look and be even more amazing

its always like that for every console the games later on down the road look waaay better than the games in the beginning

Trroy2885d ago (Edited 2885d ago )

Most of the games shown have been on par with their PS2 counterparts, albeit in 3D.

The PS2 had 32 MB of RAM, a 295 MHz processor with a 180 and 150 MHz coprocessor, and a 147 MHz GPU.

I think the 3DS is performing exactly as the specs here would suggest.

drewboy7042885d ago

I think this hints a cheaper then expected price because most phones have 1 ghz and dual cores are coming so why would they use in total 582 mhz when they could do so much more. I suspect they're trying to keep it at under $200

MGRogue20172885d ago

3DS is a whole new experience.. That's all you need to know, Now get excited! You probably already are.. xD
