Itchy Thumbs: NHL 11 Review

It often baffled me why EA’s NHL series always got an annual European release, while its old MVP Baseball titles never made it to the other side of the Atlantic. However, just because Hockey conjures up images of girls in short skirts on grass for us Brits, it shouldn’t be underestimated how much love there is for the colder version of the sport amongst the continent – not least in the Scandinavian countries and the former Eastern bloc.

So here we have NHL 11, the latest edition of a franchise that has been running since the early 90s, and helped to spawn the immortal line, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned for Sega”. For nearly 20 years, we’ve been skating, fighting and finding it difficult to score without first putting in hours and hours of practice, and with this year’s game it’s no different.
