Naughty Dog Comments on Move and Their Next Game

With Sony's new motion-based controller, Move, now available to gamers, many may be wondering if Naughty Dog plans to implement the new controller in their upcoming game, what they think of the controller, and if they feel it has the appeal to become a lasting presence in the industry. Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra share their views on Move.

edit:well done you fixed .....some of the title. omg why are your friends disagreeing with me. fine

back to serious commentary.

Okay. i just hope the next game (move or not) is not as confined as uc2. in every level you have to kill everyone. you couldnt walk pass the guards, without killing them. i got through stages without killing anyone (because the game is so damn hard on crushing mode), but it was in vain, because when i reached a check point a whole bunch of magical bullets killed me. it took me hours to get it right only to die by nothing.

fight4love2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Failure troll. Naughty Dog are among the best developers.

I wonder what there next project is. Seems like they been working on it from a while.

monk3392925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Naughty Dog is up there with the likes of Sucker Punch, Polyphony Digital, Pop Cap, Bungie, Turn 10 and Blizzard, Valve Santa Monica Studios and Harmonix. Amazing Dev! I even have an original copy of Way of the Warrior!

goosepoose2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

who da fu*k are u? (thats better)

@nitrowolf2 because it was easier not to get caught then shoot the guards. a few shots you dead no matter what. ammo is always low esp for the good guns. so it was cqc all the way, for most of the way oh ja and for the trophy. why els would i do it. like i said it took hours. it took planning and dying a lot.

my word, this game is look the holy grail or something. any criticism about this game and i get slandered. and you guys were so quick. not even the 'queer' dmc announcement recieved so much attention.

it was a flaw in the gameplay.

ExplosionSauce2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

So yeah, I agree ND are amazing devs.

It isn't that hard to sneak past people. I had to sneak past some mercs on crushing to survive. I remember in particular in the snow area by "the tree".

inveni02925d ago

You're talking about the part after the train wreck and before the Tibetan village, right? Yeah, I died that way the first time I tried it, too. I spent a lot of time in crushing mode coming up with a strategy. A lot of time was spent studying patrol patterns and getting my plan right. Eventually, I had it to where I only had to shoot about four guys, and it was actually quite easy. Actually all of the parts that I thought were hard on Normal mode seemed easier on Crushing mode because I played them smarter.

rockleex2924d ago (Edited 2924d ago )

Why? Because it only takes 2-3 bullets to kill you in Crushing Mode.

If you shoot when there's still 10-20 enemies, it would only take a couple seconds for 3 bullets to hit you.

Therefore you should use stealth until only a small percentage of enemies are left.

From then on, you can shoot.

Nitrowolf22925d ago

first off it isn't that hard to sneak past them even on crushing
and secondly why would you try to run this game on crushing?

The Lazy One2925d ago

"and secondly why would you try to run this game on crushing?"

so you are recommending that people completely ignore a large portion of the game's content?

Nitrowolf22925d ago

yeah that came out wrong
i meant him trying to just get straight threw the game, like as fast as possible

ReservoirDog3162925d ago

I think he meant speed run.

Pennywise2925d ago

This is like a bad Albott and Costello movie mash up in comment form... Greatest game this gen meets the horrible troll.

UC1 was great.

I expect ND's next game to be even better.

bennygunner2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

goosepus was just stating a major problem with the game. nobody picked up on it. I am pretty sure thats not trolling. I think praising the game for no reason is the worst type of trolling. atleast he backed up his his claim.

The Lazy One2925d ago

Reach has a horrible checkpoint system and on harder difficulties the friendly AI is useless.

See. Great games are allowed to have problems.

Oner2925d ago

This is like the third time me posting this but it is on-topic ~

A few weeks back a rep from ND was at my GF's College for an orientation/scouting event and was asked a few questions by the students/perspective hiree's about UC3. The rep answered that it's in development & that it wall also have support for PS Move. I am not saying this is 100% concrete evidence, but this should be expected...hopefully we will get some info soon...but then again look at how quiet R3 has been up until recently ;)

blahblah2925d ago

UC1 was more than amazing.
UC2 had awesome graphics and a lot of gaming flaws. for me it felt like bad copy of UC1 where everything had to be "more and bigger"

just for the record (before i start getting disagrees), UC1 is probably sharing 3rd place in all time favorite games with MGS3 (MGS4 following behind) behind Demon's souls and Mirrors edge. i have 2 platinums for UC1 (on 2 ps3s), while UC2 i only got to around 35-40% on one

flaws that i hated in 2:
- stupid boss fights (UC1 with his enemy swarms instead of bosses felt much better) where you thrown few grenades and emptied few mags into some guy wearing ordinary helmet and naked arms (train boss) that kinda looked too surreal in my book.
- confusing stages like tank in the village
- story that was way too predictable if someone played UC1 (same plot twists at the same time)
- unbalanced multiplayer (weapons have 0% balancing) with real shit code for matchmaking. instead of taking precautions to match people from same regions you end up with people covering whole globe in same session. this is not racist from me, but i hate being pitted with someone from mexico and australia. distance between us can't provide anything but laggy game with 2sec lag.

Imperator2925d ago

LMAO, UC2 is the most awarded game in history, even more than Half-Life 2. Only possible on PS3.

Convas2925d ago

I know I'll probably get some flak for this. But I'd love to see what Naughty Dog could do with a current gen entry to the Crash Bandicoot Series. Imagine if Sucker Punch did Sly Cooper 4 and Naughty Dog did a Crash Bandicoot Reboot. Sweet Mercy, the nostalgia alone would sell copies.

skatezero2462925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

that would be awesome, I remember playing Crash Bandicoot back in the day ... those where the days

White-Sharingan2925d ago

Sony doesn't own the crash bandicoot name anymore.

despair2925d ago

unfortunately they don't own the Crash IP it and spyro, I believe are owned by Activision.

plb2925d ago

Was thinking the same thing just yesterday.

Rubberlegs2925d ago

They sold off the rights to Crash Bandicoot a long time ago. I'd rather see them do a new Jak game.

TheBatman_Fanatic2925d ago

I would like a new Crash Bandicoot for this generation. Crash started to suck after Wrath of Cortex in my opinion but the best Crash games were from Naughty Dog no doubt. Before anyone try to correct me I know Naughty Dog stopped after CTR.

Trroy2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

ND/Sony created Crash, but they sold the IP to Sierra, and then Sierra became part of Activision, years ago.

MGRogue20172925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Naughty Dog FTW!!

Rockstar Games are my #1 favourite games developer (Always have been).. But ND definately come in a very close second.. I love them. :P

YoshiMeetsU2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Please don't ruin this game by putting crappy Move controls in. If it's one thing Move has taught me, there is no substitute for a good controller and all these alternate controls do is take a simple task and make it more frustrating and difficult.

If you make it as an option I guess that won't be a big deal. Looking forward to a new ND game.

Rip-Ridah2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Curious to know what Move game taught you that. I've only played Gladiator Duel, Disc Golf, Table Tennis, and Tremble. I couldn't be more happier with the way Move was implemented in these titles. Maybe navigating the XMB? Nice name/avatar by the way. "Show me thy skills!" -Yoshimitsu

Marceles2925d ago

It's optional of course, and aiming is actually more accurate if you take the time to get used to it.

That's like saying aiming with a mouse is worse than using a thumbstick. Some people aim better with a thumbstick since it's their preference, but a good thumbstick player will get their ass handed to them by a good keyboard/mouse player all day.

The precision on Move is really good since you're using your wrist to aim and it's tracking your own sensitivity instead of relying on toggling the game to do it for you.

Spydr072925d ago

"but a good thumbstick player will get their ass handed to them by a good keyboard/mouse player all day."

You can't state facts like that on N4G, you'll hurt some kid's feelings and he'll pop your bubbles/disagree.

Kingdom Come2925d ago

I would love to see Naughty Dog try their hand at a different genre of games.

Chucky20032925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

i would like them to remake Soul Reaver games knowing that Amy Henning who written and created the Soul Reaver universe is making the Uncharted games story

Pennywise2925d ago

I would love ANYONE to revive soul reaver....
