Pre-Order Pet Peeves

Amazon recently yanked the carpet out from dozens of gamers by abruptly canceling its $20 bonus for pre-ordering Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It seems the company realized many of its customers were preparing to use their $20 off coupons from their Halo: Reach purchase on Treyarch's military shooter.

What really gets under my skin – is the pre-order bonus that replaced the cool twenty: a Black Ops Laser Cell. In the good old days, this was also called a poster. C'mon this isn't worth $20!

Mr. Durawa is writing the truth. I've checked my order on Black Ops and the $20 coupon has been removed. Fortunately, I'll be looking towards other retailers for future coupons before canceling this order but I'm definitely purchasing this game somewhere else.

THE $20 HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED If you pre-ordered while promotion was running. It wont show on your account but you will get it Amazon says.

I just got through talking to a Amazon Rep. You still WILL RECEIVE the $20 credit IF you ordered when the promotion WAS available. Only thing available now to amazon pre-orders bonus is the poster. Call them yourself if you don't believe me.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Not likely, otherwise they would withdraw this deal from all games.

What they realized is that they didn't need to promote it with a $20 pre-order deal because people will buy a ton from them with our without the deal.

I think they should still honor those who had the deal when they pre-ordered. I hope they do so, otherwise it's kind of a d*ckish move.

I get all my games from Amazon.com, and this would anger me if they made a decision like this on a game I pre-ordered (such as the upcoming Castlevania game that has a $20 pre-order bonus and the only reason I'm getting the game at release rather than a few months down the road).

Still, very unlikely that those who pre-ordered while the deal was valid would get it taken away.

Dude they ARE giving you the $20 if you had it pre-ordered before they stopped it.
