Snailien Invasion is a multiplayer-centric Xbox Live Indie Game that features over 30 weapons and a style that's very reminiscent of the Worms series of video games.
CFD!'s Rob Rich takes a closer look at a particular Xbox Live Indie Game:
"A spoonful of Super Smash Bros., a cup of Team Fortress 2 and a pinch of Square Off. These are the ingredients needed to create a Snailien Invasion!.
"It’s very important to note that this game is specifically designed to be a multiplayer affair. You can certainly try to play alone, but this will limit you to only one out of four game types and it will probably get old fast. But if you can play with friends, either with a second controller or over Live, you’re bound to find plenty to enjoy here."
Sure. Worms kind of wore out its welcome for me by the end of high school, but for other games to pick up that torch is a good thing.
I feel like one of the few people out there who never played Worms or any of its derivatives :/
DIYGamer: "I got a little hot and bothered yesterday when I reviewed Circa, a game that didn’t play at all like its Xbox Marketplace description described. Fortunately, the opposite end of the spectrum then fell into my digital lap. Snailien Invasion is described by developer Manly Games as a take on the classic multiplayer blaster Liero, and would you believe it, it totally is!
Now I don’t know about you, but I spent a fair amount of time with Liero back in its heyday and really enjoyed its company, so I was looking forward to booting Snailien Invasion up. I wasn’t disappointed, as the action is just as mental as brilliant as its inspiration – well, as long as you have a couple of friends handy!"
“Snailien Invasion!” is an indie game, which was inspired by the old DOS game “Liero”. Having never played “Liero” before, my first impression of it was that it reminded me of “Worms” – you are a snail armed with four different weapons (which change depending on your class), a grappling hook, a jet pack and a shield, and you have to either work co-operatively or on your own to try and survive wave up on of waves of enemies, or you can play against others – locally or over Xbox Live – in deathmatch, team deathmatch or capture the flag games.
