Profit and sacrificing the souls of innocent devs to Satan.

Bobby Kotick is the Shang Tsung of the gaming industry.

Immortal3212860d ago

when profit became their main focus.

badz1492860d ago

whatever Kotick! at least I know I'm not and never will be one of those putting money in your account!

GWAVE2861d ago

Hey gamers! When you argue about sales and attach rates instead of the quality of games, you breed executives such as Kotick. You've brought this on yourselves.

imvix2861d ago

But hey it sells so much so it must be great lol.

Double Toasted2861d ago

He is a businessman, what do you expect? Kids these days...

@Double Toasted- Bubbles. Kotick isn't a gamer, he's a businessman. I wouldn't expect him to act any other way. If I were in his position and I were publishing the biggest multiplatform franchise this gen, I'd try ta milk it as much as I could as well.

Its a stretch to call him "evil" just because he wants to make money. If that many people were adverse to what he was doing...then why do gamers keep buying Activision games??? No ones putting a gun to anyones head to buy Call of Duty.

I LOL'd at the first comment though. Shang Tsung..ROFL.

Whether you like it or not, if a business does not make money, it fails. It is a public company, therefore its job is to keep the people who own it (share holders) happy. IT is not good Saying, "I will make a game, it does not matter if it only breaks even or fails to sell. As long as it is the best game ever"
Do you think the games industry would be here if it did not make money? No. Why do you think apple has seen the light to try and bleed it fanboys dry.
In any case, there is a compromise. Look at EA, they were the scum of the industry not too long ago. Now Activision has taken over that mantle. At least EZ takes some risk. Activision, if it not a sure thing, they want nothing to do with it. They will also screw the devs anyway.

Sony3602861d ago (Edited 2861d ago )

If people were sheepish enough to buy my over-priced products in the millions, then I guess I'd be milking it for all it's worth too.

Just look at the hype behind Black ops. Why wouldn't he charge more than the RRT again if people are dead set on buying it regardless?

Screw the recession, we deserve more than other publishers and people are happy to keep our greedy trend alive.

he's just a greedy bastard. that is all.

Garrison2861d ago

I wholeheartedly agree, gamers these days are talking too much about sales and therefore think that if it sells a whole lot it MUST be good. Casuals notice when a game catches on big in sales and hop on the bandwagon quick. They think that particular game is the best that the industry has to offer and who is there to tell them different when a lot of people here play Call of Duty cuz don't know any better than to hop on a game cuz "it sold big".

darkequitus2861d ago

Well then, Actvision are making their share holder happy, because whatever they are doing is work. At the end of the day, this guys job is to tell share holders good figure at each report meeting. He is a cookie cutter exec. It could be knitting needles he is selling for all he cares. IT just happens to be games.
