And how many people complained about DS when it was PS3 exclusive?... XD

kaveti66162625d ago

What do you mean?

It may have been a financial decision to bring their next game to the 360. The porting process to 360 is relatively easy and cost-effective. FROM software would be neglecting one of its critical advantages as an independent developer if they only made the game for one console.

There just doesn't seem to be any reason why they wouldn't, considering Demon's Souls wasn't a graphically intensive game nor did it take up a lot of space on the disc. It could just as easily have been a 360 title.

RememberThe3572625d ago

This is great news for 360 gamers. From has to share the love. Hopefully this is as successful as Demons Souls.

Cueil2625d ago

however it's just another reason for me to get a PS3 though I think the service is going down soon... that sucks I may not be able to actually enjoy the full game

WildArmed2625d ago

Service of Demons Souls has been CONFIRMED to be up ATLEAST till March of next year.

So, the looming deadline of the servesr is March, 2011.
And i'm sure they probably won't discontinue the servers if the copies keep selling.
(that means go out and buy it!! ^^)

Redrum0592625d ago

japanese 360 owners realy do get singled out.
i kinda feel srry for them.

oilahize2625d ago

Sony's probably pissed. Sony Japan helped From Software with Demon's Souls. Bet they wish they published it world wide now. Ah well, for all the above reasons it doesn't really bother me.

Maybe that's why it's Project Dark not Demon's Souls 2...?

mikeslemonade2625d ago

I guess we can just throw them a bone after-all considering the 360 has no exclusives.

bjornbear2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

since I'll only be able to start / continue demon's souls after Jan 2011 =(....*tears*

still, good news for 360 owners =) From Software are one of the most solid Japanses devs out there

now lets hope this game sells =/ it isn't an FPS people!

Red_Orange_Juice2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

@redrum, I doubt there is a single Xbox-only gamer in Japan, Xbox 360 is the last console to buy there.

Plus it's not Demon's Souls 2, it's owned by Sony.

WildArmed2625d ago

I can't wait to play the spiritual successor of Demons Souls.

Oh, it really takes the 'hard' in hardcore seriously ^_^

I hope Project Dark is more ruthless than it's spiritual predecessor.

LiquifiedArt2624d ago

its a completley different game. Sony owns the Demon Souls IP.

Pandemic2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

My bad, didn't know that many PS3 exclusives were announced for PS3.

Well done Sony :]

Lovable2625d ago

Dynasty Warrior 6. It's not great, but it's exclusive nonetheless.

soul899er2625d ago

Pixel Junk Lifelike. The Musou Game is exclusive. And Project Dark is exclusive in Japan if that counts *kanye shrug* there's still a ton of exclusives announced this year, so I didn't expect many new game announcements.

WildArmed2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

beats me..
all I know this was Sony's weakest TGS yet o_o (I guess they had too strong of an E3 and ComiCon!)
usually I'm really hyped up after TGS.. but not tonight!
ONTO GDC!

The highlight of the show for me was:
Level 5 games : Ni oh something something
The last gaurdian and the new HD pack of Ico/SoTC
and yes, the BIGGEST thing on my list: Project Dark.. spiritual sucessor of DS.

Oh, GT5 left me breathless with it's new features and game-play videos like it always does.

TGS was definitely aimed more at Japanese with all the crazy good PSP content

Imperator2625d ago

I just hope it's not dumbed down to accommodate the 360 audience.

The Maxx2624d ago

I'm sure both copies will be the same, I mean except for the better textures and performance the 360 version will have like so many other multiplat titles are. But I am sure the PS3 version will be somewhat playable.

testerg352624d ago

Dumbed down? Weird that Demon Souls is like 5gb and on the newsgroups.

sashimi2624d ago

They'll add a easy,normal mode

YoshiMeetsU2624d ago

Right! Which console again has all the crappy multiplaform games??

If anything maybe 360 owners should be concerned because it seems if there is major sh*t wrong(missing grass, massive tearing, etc) it's a Ghostbusters kind of Mafia 2.

Imperator2624d ago

I wasn't talking about graphics, I was talking about the difficulty.

Ultraplayerxd2625d ago

project dark ain't a successor to anything, sony owns the Demon's Souls IP, It's NEVER going to the 360.

DigitalAnalog2625d ago

And From Software is 3rd party. If they wanna go multi-plat then by all means do it. Demon's Souls itself wasn't more than 7GB of space. Now they can improve their gameplay (hopefully learning from Demon's souls) and push better graphics.

On the other hand, their earlier statement about "for the Demon's Souls fans" was very misleading, and if I'm correct, you NEED to own Demon's Souls to be a fan. Something that doesn't exist in the 360 division.

-End statement

raztad2624d ago

Only a couple of things to say:

Demons Souls is Sony property

Project Dark =/= Demons Souls

kaveti66162625d ago

Good. I didn't really like Demon's Souls for a number of reasons. It just wasn't my cup of tea, not that there was something inherently wrong with the game. Maybe the ragdoll physics. I played a little game with the ragdolls, where I would see how far I could kick them across a map.

T9X692625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Did you suck at it?

EDIT: By the way, I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything, its a serious question. I'm asking because I sucked at the game at first, but once I started to learn how the AI behaved and learned from my mistakes, I really enjoyed it.

dark-hollow2625d ago

who wouldn't? That game is punishing hard.....i like it
hard games are rare these days

kaveti66162625d ago

Nooooo.

Yes.

All the reviewers said that even when they failed they were motivated to keep trying, so I kept that in mind when I purchased the game because I felt that it wouldn't be a reason to quit playing, but it turns out it was for me.

But there are other things I didn't like very much. The environments were a little too dark, the enemies a little too annoying. It just didn't fit my taste at all.

There are plenty of reasons for not liking the game beyond just whether or not I sucked at it.

I'm not very good at Halo but I love that game because it fits my tastes. So, whatever. I don't know why I get disagrees for speaking in such a light-hearted manner. I'm not saying anything negative about the game.

T9X692625d ago

@kaveti6616

That's why I edited my post. I know quite a few people who said they didn't like Demon's Souls after playing it, and when I asked them if they sucked at it, they said "Yea kinda, I kept dying and it was just annoying so I quit playing it." So I was seeing if you was one of those people.

Akagi2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

It's not hard. If you are attempting to rush past every enemy with your little wooden shield and basic sword, then yes, it's hard.

WildArmed2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

The last thing you have time for in DS is kicking around the bodies.. The game has enough content to keep you glued for hundreds of hours.

Though, if you did get stuck on a particular level, you might end up playing Rag DolL kunfu in Demons Souls.

But then again, not everyone has to be a fan of DS.
As he said himself, "It just wasn't my cup of tea"

British people and their tea.. tsk (jk)

@below
Your first run of the game can be extremely overwhelming.
Esp. since bosses are Tower Knight and the mining stage (2-1) are not easy if you dont know what you are doing -- chances are you wont on your first run

kaveti66162625d ago

I made it to the second world, with the mines.

I only played the ragdoll game in the tutorial and the first world.

bobcostus2625d ago

Tower Knight is a cakewalk. Sprint up the right side take out archers, then shoot tower knight in the head with soul arrow or bow, and back away when he is attacking. It's soooo easy. I don't understand why people found that boss hard.

Demon's souls was a very fun game, but it wasn't that hard. Don't get hit, use blocks and roll/evade. Really easy once you get that part.

Mayle2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Magic is for the weak...Just watch his attacks (the big shield attack) while attacking the back of his legs and eventually he will fall to his knees and then it is a cake walk from there

Jdoki2625d ago

@shovelface

And that was the beauty of DS. You could find multiple ways to kill almost anything in the game.

Using bow/arrow on Tower Knight was an easier option, but for those people who had built a melee character, it was a lot tougher. :)

ThanatosDMC2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Pansies! Y'all used ranged weapons/magic missiles. I never did. Real men, ummm... poke things with their sword or spear. Running attack on the legs but making sure now to use up all your stamina or it'll be a one/two hit kill.

WildArmed2624d ago (Edited 2624d ago )

Yeah those are the ways you usually doing it on your first or second NG+. (spamming magic/bow from afar)

Now, I just go up there, stand next to it's leg and kick it's ass!

(or just use firestorm.. but I try not to make bosses soo easy for myself though)

Anyways, I use my dragon (knight)sword and bring it down to it's knees.
BOW TO MY GLORY.

But, like I said. The game is easy once you learn the strategies, not so much the first time around (which is why I appreciate the game alot! Though even I die sometimes, and I'm on my 20th or so NG+ run)

During my first run of new characters, I tend to just use my Scimitar, and attack it's legs till it's now. And do heavey damage to it's face!

"I don't know why I get disagrees for speaking in such a light-hearted manner. I'm not saying anything negative about the game."

What? People can't disagree with your opinion?

kaveti66162625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

This site doesn't work that way. If it worked the normal way, then I wouldn't have asked why.

If I made the claim that a game sucked, then I can understand people disagreeing with me.

If I said I didn't like a game, then how can people disagree with me about me not liking the game?

So, yeah. It doesn't really make sense if I get a disagree unless I were trolling, which I'm not.

I didn't say anything negative about the game.

I don't want to take agree/disagree numbers seriously, but they're there.

Lovable2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Sureeeeee....Whatever you say...<_<

I seriously don't get people's obsession about this agree and disagree buttons. I couldn't careless if people always disagree with me. As long as I can share my thoughts to everyone then that should be enough.

Ri0tSquad2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

It starts off pretty frustrating, almost boring, and kind of stale. However, after you start beating more bosses, leveling up, acquiring more magic and start getting stronger, that's when the game becomes addicting and rewarding. Some people give up and just think it's a bad game. The best part about the game IMO is playing it again 2-3 more times; you can hop around each world and the the difficulty is harder but you get more souls which can give you new magic, weapons, etc.

ThanatosDMC2625d ago

One of the funniest/most frustrating thing that caught me off guard in the game was those floating spherical lights in the underground cave where there were a lot of slugs and little walkway.

I didnt know that those things explode and cause fatal damage. I died instantly and loss a ton of souls because after i died. I was careless and died another way trying to get to my corpse... errr... soul.

BYE2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

I thought the ragdoll physics are awesome. They're one reason I like the game.

ThanatosDMC2625d ago

You cant kick them!! They get stuck in your legs/feet. HAHAHA! But seriously, it's true the corpses do get stuck which i found funny.

It wasnt a game for everybody. The setting is about demons, evil fog, corrupted castle, corpses, death, etc. Of course, it'll be dark and not a rainbow road of sorts.

Wizziokid2625d ago

I still need to play Demon Souls so I'm currently indifferent about this.

dark-hollow2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

This is no paper mario
You gonna get your a#@ served to ya
It very very VERY EXTREMELY hard

Wizziokid2625d ago

yeah I know it's a hard game but I love challenges :)

ThanatosDMC2625d ago

Just be happy to die... you're going to die... A WHOLE LOT!

One of the major things that will piss you off is after a long slow journey in the darkness full of things that can kill you. You die and have to start over again. Always have your shield up when you dont know where you're going.

poopface12624d ago

if you turn of the ps3 right after yuo die you will start baack right before you died. But you gotta do it fast, and this could corrupt you save maybe?? Its worked everytime for me, but Ive only done it a few times when I had ALOT of souls.

Apotheosize2625d ago

I cannot wait for this game

Mr Exclusive2625d ago

This isn't even Demons Souls 2, its a spiritual successor just like Demon's Souls is the successor to the King's Field series. Sony owns the Demon's Souls IP.

DORMIN2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Thats likely why its multiplatform.
Namco Bandai is publishing. Kind of weird that this isn't PS3 exclusive and Dynasty Warriors is. LOL

Either way, can't wait to hear more about Project Dark.

dark-hollow2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

I love how was some of you was saying "its like demon souls 2 F YEAH" in the other article that says its a ps3 exclusive
But here "meh...its not the true successor...anyway good for xbox gamers"
Stick to your guns....

Akagi2625d ago (Edited 2625d ago )

Yep, don't see this game being as fresh as Demon's Souls.
