The recently announced Project Dark, which is the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, is also apparently coming to the Xbox 360.
And how many people complained about DS when it was PS3 exclusive?... XD
What do you mean? It may have been a financial decision to bring their next game to the 360. The porting process to 360 is relatively easy and cost-effective. FROM software would be neglecting one of its critical advantages as an independent developer if they only made the game for one console. There just doesn't seem to be any reason why they wouldn't, considering Demon's Souls wasn't a graphically intensive game nor did it take up a lot of space on the disc. It could just as easily have been a 360 title.
This is great news for 360 gamers. From has to share the love. Hopefully this is as successful as Demons Souls.
however it's just another reason for me to get a PS3 though I think the service is going down soon... that sucks I may not be able to actually enjoy the full game
Service of Demons Souls has been CONFIRMED to be up ATLEAST till March of next year. So, the looming deadline of the servesr is March, 2011. And i'm sure they probably won't discontinue the servers if the copies keep selling. (that means go out and buy it!! ^^)
japanese 360 owners realy do get singled out. i kinda feel srry for them.
Sony's probably pissed. Sony Japan helped From Software with Demon's Souls. Bet they wish they published it world wide now. Ah well, for all the above reasons it doesn't really bother me. Maybe that's why it's Project Dark not Demon's Souls 2...?
I guess we can just throw them a bone after-all considering the 360 has no exclusives.
since I'll only be able to start / continue demon's souls after Jan 2011 =(....*tears* still, good news for 360 owners =) From Software are one of the most solid Japanses devs out there now lets hope this game sells =/ it isn't an FPS people!
@redrum, I doubt there is a single Xbox-only gamer in Japan, Xbox 360 is the last console to buy there. Plus it's not Demon's Souls 2, it's owned by Sony.
I can't wait to play the spiritual successor of Demons Souls. Oh, it really takes the 'hard' in hardcore seriously ^_^ I hope Project Dark is more ruthless than it's spiritual predecessor.
its a completley different game. Sony owns the Demon Souls IP.
My bad, didn't know that many PS3 exclusives were announced for PS3. Well done Sony :]
Dynasty Warrior 6. It's not great, but it's exclusive nonetheless.
Pixel Junk Lifelike. The Musou Game is exclusive. And Project Dark is exclusive in Japan if that counts *kanye shrug* there's still a ton of exclusives announced this year, so I didn't expect many new game announcements.
beats me.. all I know this was Sony's weakest TGS yet o_o (I guess they had too strong of an E3 and ComiCon!) usually I'm really hyped up after TGS.. but not tonight! ONTO GDC! The highlight of the show for me was: Level 5 games : Ni oh something something The last gaurdian and the new HD pack of Ico/SoTC and yes, the BIGGEST thing on my list: Project Dark.. spiritual sucessor of DS. Oh, GT5 left me breathless with it's new features and game-play videos like it always does. TGS was definitely aimed more at Japanese with all the crazy good PSP content
I just hope it's not dumbed down to accommodate the 360 audience.
I'm sure both copies will be the same, I mean except for the better textures and performance the 360 version will have like so many other multiplat titles are. But I am sure the PS3 version will be somewhat playable.
Dumbed down? Weird that Demon Souls is like 5gb and on the newsgroups.
They'll add a easy,normal mode
Right! Which console again has all the crappy multiplaform games?? If anything maybe 360 owners should be concerned because it seems if there is major sh*t wrong(missing grass, massive tearing, etc) it's a Ghostbusters kind of Mafia 2.
I wasn't talking about graphics, I was talking about the difficulty.
project dark ain't a successor to anything, sony owns the Demon's Souls IP, It's NEVER going to the 360.
And From Software is 3rd party. If they wanna go multi-plat then by all means do it. Demon's Souls itself wasn't more than 7GB of space. Now they can improve their gameplay (hopefully learning from Demon's souls) and push better graphics. On the other hand, their earlier statement about "for the Demon's Souls fans" was very misleading, and if I'm correct, you NEED to own Demon's Souls to be a fan. Something that doesn't exist in the 360 division. -End statement
Only a couple of things to say: Demons Souls is Sony property Project Dark =/= Demons Souls
Good. I didn't really like Demon's Souls for a number of reasons. It just wasn't my cup of tea, not that there was something inherently wrong with the game. Maybe the ragdoll physics. I played a little game with the ragdolls, where I would see how far I could kick them across a map.
Did you suck at it? EDIT: By the way, I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything, its a serious question. I'm asking because I sucked at the game at first, but once I started to learn how the AI behaved and learned from my mistakes, I really enjoyed it.
who wouldn't? That game is punishing hard.....i like it hard games are rare these days
Nooooo. Yes. All the reviewers said that even when they failed they were motivated to keep trying, so I kept that in mind when I purchased the game because I felt that it wouldn't be a reason to quit playing, but it turns out it was for me. But there are other things I didn't like very much. The environments were a little too dark, the enemies a little too annoying. It just didn't fit my taste at all. There are plenty of reasons for not liking the game beyond just whether or not I sucked at it. I'm not very good at Halo but I love that game because it fits my tastes. So, whatever. I don't know why I get disagrees for speaking in such a light-hearted manner. I'm not saying anything negative about the game.
@kaveti6616 That's why I edited my post. I know quite a few people who said they didn't like Demon's Souls after playing it, and when I asked them if they sucked at it, they said "Yea kinda, I kept dying and it was just annoying so I quit playing it." So I was seeing if you was one of those people.
It's not hard. If you are attempting to rush past every enemy with your little wooden shield and basic sword, then yes, it's hard.
The last thing you have time for in DS is kicking around the bodies.. The game has enough content to keep you glued for hundreds of hours. Though, if you did get stuck on a particular level, you might end up playing Rag DolL kunfu in Demons Souls. But then again, not everyone has to be a fan of DS. As he said himself, "It just wasn't my cup of tea" British people and their tea.. tsk (jk) @below Your first run of the game can be extremely overwhelming. Esp. since bosses are Tower Knight and the mining stage (2-1) are not easy if you dont know what you are doing -- chances are you wont on your first run
I made it to the second world, with the mines. I only played the ragdoll game in the tutorial and the first world.
Tower Knight is a cakewalk. Sprint up the right side take out archers, then shoot tower knight in the head with soul arrow or bow, and back away when he is attacking. It's soooo easy. I don't understand why people found that boss hard. Demon's souls was a very fun game, but it wasn't that hard
