How would you change Windows Vista?

What do you get when you take a product used by hundreds of millions of people every day, add a few new features / polish up the interface, and then try to get everyone to shell out a grip of money for this delay- and bug- plagued upgrade? No, we're not talking about New Coke, although Microsoft probably could have learned a lesson from that failed experiment when it went about developing what would end up being Windows Vista, namely that consumers demand more than some glitz and fancy new packaging if they're to abandon an old, reliable friend.

id make it a version of linux....any version.

seriously though, they should've just released a visual update to xp with a couple of new features(search and sidebar) and people would've been much happier.

google, vista transformation pack 7, you'll need a few other thing like windowblinds 5 but it basically turns your boring old xp into vista, complete with all the sounds, icons, new sidebar and even the glass effect! most people wouldnt even know the difference, basically all the cool bits of vista minus the crap!!

Rewrite the entire operating system with Solaris file system.

MK_Red3984d ago

I'd make it take less system process and add some real and orignal features not just visual additions.

My sister has it and it sucks she has so many problems with vista! I would make it more compatible.

kcdude3984d ago

I'd make it much lighter. The amount of memory you need to feel comfortable using Vista, which is 2GB's in my opinion, is quite ridiculous.

FordGTGuy3984d ago (Edited 3984d ago )

I have 1GB and Vista works very smooth.

I love how people disagreed with fact.

Heres a picture:

I have two gigs.

Looking at the performance task on average it takes 50%+ of the memory to run the system.

Two gigs is not enough, in a few years it will take more than two gigs.

Here are the pictures.
Running everything in vista takes 1.14 gigs of ram. That's including Aero and Firefox with 3 windows opened.

gta_cb3984d ago (Edited 3984d ago )

@ Lord Anubis

i have also got 1 gig of ram and running Windows Vista Ultimate, with AnitVirus (AVG) and a firewall (Zone Alarm) and its running other things like my USB Bluetooth and i have the internet up with 6 open tabs and its only using 49% of my system ram, there is a picture to prove it (screen shot) i dont see how you can be using soo much system ram without running some kind of program.

although i do AGREE that it shouldnt need so much ram compared to Windows XP, it makes it harder as other people in my family wants to upgrade to vista aswell, but cant as there lacking ram :(

Lord Anubis3984d ago

how many megs are you using, is hard to see on the picture.
