Homebrew DVD Player software released for Wii

Team Symbiote have released a DVD Player for the Wii, now all those Wii modders can jump for joy. It seems as if a lot of hackers were at work on the project and it is a total software solution to get DVDs playing on the Wii. In order to get it working, you have to Burn the application with Clone CD, then boot it in a modded Wii with a homebrew program YAOSM 1.8, when the menu pops up you simply hit Z to unmount, change the disc to a DVD movie and then hit START to play.

way too much work ps3 and xbox 360(hd-dvd addon) does this already not to mention in HD

Homebrew did what lazy Nintendo didn't. Of course, Nintendo will release a DVD-player enabled Wii Lite next year and people will Wii again.

Who cares....I already have a DVD player, and it cost more than my Wii.

If the hardware is there couldn't they just release a channel to enable this feature? Or an update?

yes they could but nintendo is a game company not no ps3 or xbox 360
