Dragon Age 2 - ZTGD Preview

Cat writes, "Before getting our hands on the game we were given our Dragon Age 2 lessons. Seated in a room at their booth a fresh batch of gamers were taught the three tenets of the game's sequel, each of them things from Origins that the team said most needed fixing: story, combat and graphics."

The story is too old to be commented.

I'm afraid Dragons Age is a linear, commercially driven game franchise masquerading as an RPG, designed to appeal to the more casual gamer (wider audience!).

Despite excellent story-telling and narrative, don't be fooled by the RPG tag. Origins was more like an interactive book than an RPG and DA 2 looks like being no different and should be re-classified as a Fantasy Action Adventure.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion is an RPG - choice of camera perspective, in-depth character choices, open world, better graphics, flexible micro-management, larger scale and scope.. etc, which came out early 2006 ! Nearly 5 years on and the Dragons Age franchise is nowhere near Oblivion's quality in any regard whatsoever and coupled with the fake RPG tag is hugely disappointing for adult gamers and fans of the genre.

I loved Oblivion, but I really liked Dragon Age, too - for all its problems. They're definitely not the same game, and I think with 2 they're making their predilections for action-adventure a bit more clear.

Of course it's not the same game. One is an RPG and the other one isn't. And I think we all know which one is the RPG !
Nothing wrong with DAO - I played to conclusion & enjoyed it - but I enjoyed a Fantasy Action Adventure, not an RPG.
